In addition to the fact that none of the majority of scholars concerned with the photos. The author found three significance conclusions in the hadith: The first is the device to always worship God with full obedience and make distance from all forms of shirk. The second reason is to always instill the nature of laughter in the heart, which is to humble yourself before God and consider all strength and greatness only belongs to God. And the last intention is always doing what God has blessed and leaving what invites his wrath.

Abstract

Normatively, the existence of a statue has been agreed upon as forbidden in Islam. The argument for the prohibition of its existence can also be found in various textual traditions, so that among Muslim scholars and intellectuals, there are almost no rejection regarding the prohibition. Therefore, the objects of art that are accommodated in Islamic traditions are limited to inanimate objects such as flowers and plants, which then give bring up to distinctive ornamental arts in the Islamic tradition. However, in the Prumpung Magelang area, there is a center for the andesite sculpture industry, with the majority of the carvers being devout Muslims. The gap that arises between the doctrine of the prohibition of statues on the one hand, and the existence of Muslim sculptors on the other is the main theme discussed in this study. Meanwhile, the approach used in this study uses the semiotic-communication concept initiated by Umberto Eco. The study concludes that the existence of statues according to the sculptors in Prumpung Magelang does not have theological problems as the doctrine understood by the majority of Muslims, therefore the profession as a sculptor for them is a lawful profession like other professions.

Abstract

The tradition of mangaji during the death is a form of acculturation of Minangkabau culture and Islam, perceived as part of the prophetic traditions. However, some people interpret this tradition as bid'ah, and even, some others accused the practice as haram because it was part of jāhiliyyah traditions. This living hadith study is going to investigate the practice using a phenomenological approach during field research. The result of this study indicates the tradition of mangaji during the death in the Lareh Nan Panjang community is an acculturation between Islamic teachings based on the Qur'an and hadith. Historically mangaji refers to the interpretation of Shaykh Burhanuddin, a scholar who spread Islam in Padang Pariaman during the sixteenth and sevententh centuries. The syaikh changed the people’s habits of grieving at death with reciting verses of the Qur'an, ṣalāwāt, ẓikir, taḥlīl and prayers ‘led by tuangku or labai. These recitations have been compiled in the mangaji guidebook. In a nutshell, mangaji has many values including worships, educations, empathies, maintaining harmonies, helpings and caring, solidarities, brotherhoods and affections.

Abstract

This paper tries to describe some of imam al-Tirmidizi's views related to the theory of hadith quality found in the book al-Jami al-Şahih al-Sunan al-Tirmîdzi , this paper is a literature study with a descriptive approach that yields the conclusion that Imam al-Tirmîdzi has a different concept than the hadith expert in describing the hadith ṣahīh, hasan and dha’īf. In the case of ṣahīh hadith, the theory used by imam al-Tirmdizi is almost the same as other hadith experts i.e. hadith sahih is a hadith whose isith continues, Narrated by the 'adil and dhabīt, while in the theory of hasan hadith, Tirmidzi has a unique concept that divides hasan into three namely hasan ṣahīh (hadith hasan approaching ṣahīh), hasan (hadith that exists about hasan sahih and gharīb) and hasan gharīb is a hadith that is close to hadith dha’īf. Then, the theory of dha’īf by Imam al-Tirmîdzi is the same as other hadith scholars who do not meet ṣahīh and hasan and the connection of sanad is questioned.

Abstract

This study describes the phenomenon of the tulak breuh tradition in the procession of taking care of the dead in Manyak Payed District, Aceh Tamiang Regency as a living hadith phenomenon. This tradition still raise questions in the aspect of dalil that forms the basis for the practice. However, people still practice this tradition because in their opinion it is in accordance with the hadith and the understanding of the fiqh scholars in kitab kuning. This study aims to find out the argument for the implementation of the tradition and how it is practiced in the society. Qualitative research with a living hadith approach is used to reveal the practice of this tradition. In addition to conducting a literature review, the interview method was also used to collect data. The results showed that the practice of tulak breuh in Manyak Payed district, Aceh Tamiang regency was assumed to be a way to accommodate the fidyah shalat for people who died. The procedure is to refuse rice (tulak breuh) which is placed on a wheeled place that allows it to be shifted from one person to another until it reaches the number of fidyah shalat left behind. This tradition has been practiced for generations and run consistently. From the side of the argument, the hadith mauqūf from Ibn 'Abbas ra. used as the basis for implementation. From a living hadith perspective, understanding this hadith forms a tradition in the procession of taking care of the dead in Manyak Payed District, Aceh Tamiang Regency.
