Abstract

Information technology is now unstoppable, this is the impact of the continued development ofscience. To support this, the library must also be designed to follow the progress of the times, this is done to support the need for digital information. The formulation of the problem raised focuses on regulatory, funding, and technology aspects in creating a technology-based librarywhich is the main concern so that it can be seen in terms of what needs to be improved in the future so that the library that is run will continue to develop according to the needs of generations Z and Alpha. This research uses the literature study method by looking at Law No.43 of 2007 concerning Libraries as a basis. The results obtained from this research are that libraries in generation Z and Alpha need to be designed in such a way according to the regulations in law no. 43 of 2007.

Abstract

The reading interest of the Indonesian people is the lowest in ASEAN. The government and society should pay more attention to the crisis of culture and interest in reading in Indonesia. One of the efforts realized by the government and the community is to establish various kinds of reading places for the Indonesian people, one of which is the Jenny Bookstore Community Reading Garden. This study aimed to determine the role and constraints of Jenny's bookshop community in developing the people's interest in reading. This study used descriptive methods and by qualitative approach. The data in this study was collected by observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the research results, it was known that Jenny's bookstore is a place to meet and exchange ideas with library concepts. Programs or activities carried out by Jenny's bookstore in developing people's interest in reading were established some program like KBJamming, menangisi akhir pekan, sajakkan saja, buka buku, books publishing, and happy stage program. The obstacles faced in growing people's interest in reading were operational funds, limited room, and lack of volunteers.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has attacked various levels of society from all parts of the world, including Indonesia. Many of the people affected by Covid-19 have begun to adapt to the new situation in various ways. Libraries as sources of information are required to adapt to the needs of their users. The author uses literature studies or literature reviews in compiling this paper. The role of technology in the pandemic period provides convenience in using the library. Librarians adapt services online: consulting services, digital source tracing services, plagiarism checking services, and building digital libraries. The role of technology in libraries in providing services during the Covid-19 pandemic requires librarian skills in understanding the tools used. Media Zoom, GMeet, WhatsApp, Youtube, Instagram, library websites are indispensable in disseminating information. The purpose of this paper is to explain how the role of information technology, especially from online services in libraries, in order to meet the information needs of users. The results of this paper can be concluded that libraries have an important role in disseminating information through the role of technology during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The library as a source of information must of course provide sources of information that can be utilized by users in meeting their information needs. Libraries must have collections that can support the needs of users by providing reference sources that can be used as sources of information. By providing secondary sources of library information such as bibliographies and government publications. Bibliography and Government Publications are one of the general reference sources that contain various important information that can be useful in information retrieval. The purpose of writing this article is to provide an overview related to the use of bibliography and government publications as a source of information, especially for users to meet information needs. Constraints in the use of Bibliography, namely the user does not know how to use the Bibliography. Meanwhile, obstacles in the use of government publications, namely human resources with educational background in Library Science are still minimal so that management is not optimal, lack of responsibility and initiative for library staff to manage government publications, has not been inputted to a computer which results in difficult retrieval processes and collections of publications are not yet available. neatly arranged. Besides that, so that the general public can take advantage of the services of general reference sources in the library as a reference in finding information.

Abstract

Reference unit is the core service of the libraries in fulfilling the information needs of their users. As technology develops, reference services are currently switching to virtual to facilitate users in reach their information. The purpose of this research is to review and analyze the actual implementation of the impact of information technology on current library reference services, in Asian continent countries; and to know what are features used in reference services development. The method used is a qualitative approach through literature study. Data were obtained by making virtual visits to public library websites in Asia that have implemented the Ask Librarian reference service. The results show that (1) the impact of technological developments on reference services made it easier for users to ask questions through the Ask Librarian for 24 hours to obtain an information that they needed; and (2) there are five types of virtual reference Services applied that can be used by users, namely: (a) Internet Reference Enquiry Service via email and/ or form; (b) Live-chat; (c) FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions); (d) Links to Other Library Reference Services; and (e) Call the Librarian.

Abstract

Good collection management is also good information management. Collections are also a key factor in determining user satisfaction, therefore collections need to be developed. The purpose of writing this article is a best practice carried out by the University of Hayam Wuruk Perbanas which can be an illustration or an addition to the treasures of knowledge in the world of libraries, especially in terms of collection development. This writing method uses a literature study. Up-to-date information in a library is an important thing and must be done in order to preserve information and develop knowledge. This cannot be separated from the use of information and communication technology (ICT) which is applied in the library. Collection of library materials is an embodiment of the information preservation process. Collection development carried out by libraries is a very important process because in these activities, libraries involve users and leaders or stakeholders. The collections owned must be in accordance with the needs of users and the direction of the purpose of the formation of the library itself. So it is necessary to develop a library collection management that can meet the needs of users. Collection development needs to be carried out on an ongoing basis so that users can use the library continuously so that dependence on the library arises. The collection development process consists of analyzing user needs, selecting library material collections, holding library materials, conducting stock taking, maintaining library materials and weeding. This is done as an effort to maintain the up-to-date information contained in the library because the main purpose of a library is to be a user. From the results of the discussion writer concludes that the collections owned by the Hayam Wuruk Library at Perbanas Surabaya are in accordance with the needs of users.
