“Library is the heart of the university” andai ilmu adalah darah dalam tubuh dan tubuh merupakan sistem dari sebuah perguruan tinggi, maka perpustakaan bagi perguruan tinggi tersebut adalah jantung yang melahirkan ilmu yang ditujukan kepada mahasiswa melalui dosen sebagai pembuluh darahnya. Dari pernyataan di atas, eksistensi sebuah perpustakaan sebagai resource center mempunyai fungsi sangat krusial dalam kegiatan akademik di perguruan tinggi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan formulasi strategi membangun eksistensi perpustakaan perguruan tinggi (UNS), melalui metode survei lapangan, deskripsi fenomena yang ada, dan studi pustaka, kemudian diuraikan secara deskriptif kualitatif, penulis melakukan “capture” gambaran perpustakaan perguruan tinggi yaitu UPT Perpustakaan UNS melalui analisis SWOT. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah (1) Strategi SO: membangun differensiasi layanan baru “Javanese Corner”, menambah ragam content digilib; 2) Strategi ST: layanan SAT sebagai media penelusuran informasi digital, lokasi perpustakaan yang strategis sebagai learning center dalam menciptakan academic atmosphere; 3) Strategi WO: mengakomodasi kebutuhan informasi berdasar market share yang sudah tersegmetasi, pengajuan programmer untuk pengembangan SIM perpustakaan, share collection melalui kartu sakti FKP2TN. (4) Strategi WT: workshop literasi informasi untuk semua pustakawan UNS, memunculkan pustakawan profesional dalam perannya melalui kolaborasi dengan tenaga pendidik (dosen) dalam pemanfaatan teknologi perpustakaan untuk mendukung pendidikan dan riset. Diharapkan, hasil tulisan sederhana ini dapat diimplementasikan (follow-up) sebagai bagian dari tata kelola perpustakaan ke depan sehingga eksistensi perpustakaan melalui pustakawan dapat dilihat dan dirasakan oleh pengguna perpustakaan secara maksimal.Kata kunci: perpustakaan, learning center, eksistensi, SWOT

Library website is one of the information retrieval media for students who are in the academic environment. Library website thus should adapt to the needs of students especially in conducting research. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Sebelas Maret University Library website (UNS) as library education media after the redesign. Redesigning the website focuses on how to present the information sources in which the collections of UNS Library either in printed or electronic form exists. The results of the analysis after redesigning the website showed that the use of the website is as expected. This is showed through the statistics of the web pages most frequently accessed, the number of visitors, time spent from new visitors and returning visitors to visit the Library website UNS, user behavior -especially switching between web pages- and device platform used by a visitor to visit the Library website UNS. As a conclusion, after the redesign, UNS Library website is capable of facilitating student learning behavior that is independent, techie and mobile.

Human resource development is the personnel development activities in order to meet the desired career plan. Librarians in the organization of the library is expected to develop its potential. For that, it takes several factors in the career development of librarians and can not be denied that there will be issues in it. For development factors, including 1) fairness in career librarians; 2) care and supervision of a body builder; 3) awareness of career opportunities; 4) interest librarian; 5) librarian career satisfaction. While the issues in the career development of librarians, among them 1) membership librarian; 2) doubt in promotion; 3) the enforceability of the career development of librarians; 4) career opportunities for librarians; 5) diversity librarian position; 6) promotion of librarians; 7) the organization’s commitment to a career librarian.

At the century, library has offered exceptional service via mobile web users. This concept refers to the components of the mobile web - Ellyssa Kroski: users, devices, operating systems, services, content. The device not only machines, including human resources (librarian). Course professional librarians, brave move on, becoming a greater. It leads to the aspect of librarian professionalism - Steers & Porter (1991) that professional librarians are not different from other professions. Its benchmarks 1) the skills, abilities, and knowledge; 2) psychological maturity. The professionalism of thiscentury was also characterized by a global culture which is full of competition and fast-paced change. Not just the usual professionalism, but world-class professionalism that will enable us to dominate the Mobile Library and align us with other professional organizations worldwide. Terbatasnya layanan perpustakaan oleh jarak dan waktu membuat pustakawan berkreativitas dengan memanfaatkan media sosial dalam memberikan layanan. Media sosial merupakan media yang dapat digunakan oleh perpustakaan untuk promosi, informasi, transaksi, silaturahmi, komunikasi, berbagi atau sharing, dan jugapengembangan diri. Dengan media sosial, perpustakaan dapat membuat grup yang digunakan untuk mengorganisasi pemustaka sehingga komunikasi antara pemustakadan perpustakaan dapat dilakukan dengan optimal. Agar media sosial untuk layanan perpustakaan perguruan tinggi berjalan efektif, diperlukan penyediaan sumber daya manusia yaitu pustakawan atau staf perpustakaan (admin) yang khusus bertugas memantau media sosial milik perpustakaan, tata tertib grup dibuat oleh perpustakaan, kemampuan pustakawan dalam penelusuran informasi yang tidak terbatas pada koleksi di tempatnya, dan nomor rekening perpustakaan. Dengan berbagai ketentuan tersebut, komunikasi antarperpustakaan dan pemustaka akan berjalan dan media sosial dapat digunakan sebagai media komunikasi untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi pemustaka secara optimal.

Perpustakaan desa dapat berperan sebagai lembaga pendidikan nonformal, agen perubahan, dan agen pembangunan bagi masyarakat sekelilingnya. Pendidikanberfungsi untuk mengembangkan kemampuan, membentuk watak dan peradaban bangsa yang bermartabat dalam rangka mencerdaskan kehidupan masyarakat dan bangsa. Perpustakaan desa dapat melakukan optimalisasi perpustakaan dalam mendukung program pemerintah dalam meningkatkan pendidikan masyarakat. Adapun strategi yang dapat dilakukan perpustakaan desa, antara lain: 1) optimalisasi koleksi; 2)penyesuaian jam buka perpustakaan dengan aktivitas masyarakat; 3) mengadakanpenyuluhan mengenai manfaat membaca secara berkala; 4) menyediakan taman baca di tingkat RW; 5) mengadakan lomba dengan topik kreativitas masyarakat; 6)mengadakan layanan delivery.

Advances in science and technology are increasingly causing increased the needand demand pemustaka. Here librarians are required to be able to answer thesechallenges, in order to meet the needs user. Librarian is a profession that requires education or training to manage the library. The professionalism of librarians should be increased because the librarian is an important element in the library. If the library does not want to be left pemustaka and want to continue to progress and evolve, the librarian should develop a professional attitude in order to create a positive image. A professional librarian who not only required to master the skill and technique of the library, but his soul felt called to become a librarian and aware that the profession of librarian is the servant of the library patron.

The library has the resources in the form of a library room that can be optimized to provide support to collaborative learning. Library as a public space open for anyone to come, move, and enjoy the facilities of library. Library room with the support of information and communication technology-enabled to support collaborative learning process. Limitations of classrooms available on formal and informal education supported by information and communication technologies to make the library into a public space that is appropriate as the choice of implementation of the learning process. The availability of private space in a library makes the library has the advantage not only of space and collaborative learning facilities, but also a pleasant experience for pemustaka. The library is a public space, also the private sphere that gives comfort pemustaka for collaborative learning both online and offl ine. The space is fl exible and responsive to the needs pemustaka become an important point in developing and optimizing the space available libraries.

Library and print media as a medium for the dissemination of information and knowledge resource centers. Both the media must have the positive integration of mutual benefi t. It is a form of strengthening the various models of information disseminated directly and indirectly. Various models of literacy and knowledge appeared in the print media and it is presented in the library. Therefore, it is necessary to unify the vision synergistic effort between the library and print media so that it can occur symbiotic mutualism between the library and the print media in a variety of contexts of science and technology and the arts.Key words: symbiotic mutualism, libraries, print media, reading, and writing.
