Abstract

The research on the ability of writing short stories is very important because writing is one of language competence that students must have. The skill of writing short stories is quite difficult to master due to its complexity and some factors that obstruct its learning process, like an ineffective learning model. For that reason, the appropriate method should be applied in the learning process. It uses a 2 x 2 (two-by-two) factorial design of experimental research method. The population in this research is 10th grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Samarinda. Based on the data analysis, it shows that (1) there is skill difference in writing short stories between students who have studied learning models of inquiry learning and two stay two stray, (2) there is skill difference in writing short stories between students who have high and low reading interests, and (3) there is an interaction between the teaching model and reading interest and the skills of writing short stories.

Abstract

This research aims to decribe phonological variation in Melayu Kutai Language in Kutai Kartanegara Regency. In this research, the researcher uses qualitative-descriptive methods, transcripts the data phonetically, and then classifies and analyses the data as well. It consists of three steps that are the provision of data, data analysis, and presentation of the result. The researcher applies identity methods, that are articulatory phonetic and referential identity methods, followed by a classifying technique to sort out the determinants and all subsequent techniques in the data analysis. This research is conducted in Tenggarong, Kembang Janggut, and Kotabangun. The results shows that variations between phonemes a and |, variations between phonemes i and e, variations between phonemes u and o, variations between phonemes u and O, and variations between phonemes i and E.

Abstract

It is a classroom action research. It discusses about how to improve news text writing skills using project based learning model in class XII Multimedia students of SMK Negeri 1 Samarinda in the academic year of 2017/2018. The subjects of this research are students of class XII Multimedia since their average scores are below minimum mastery criteria (MMC) compared to  other classes. The data collected here are texts of learning outcomes, observations of student and teacher activities, and portfolios. The data validity is divided into technique validity and source validity. Technique validity is in the form of observations, the score of student projects, documentations of result projects, and interviews. In order to triangulate the data, the researcher collects the information from observers, students, and informants of the student projects. It applies qualitative descriptive techniques. The indicators used here are individual scores (MMC 75) and the classical scores (80% of MMC). On the first cycle, 24 students or 61.5% do not reach MMC and only 15 students or 38.5% reach MMC, while on the second cycle, 39 students reach MMC 75.

Abstract

This study describes the social role of Dayak women, both in the domestic and public spaces in three Korrie Layun Rampan short stories, namely "Perlawanan", "Riam" and "Upacara tak Selesai". The role of women includes the ways women maintain their life and customary land as the important thing in their society. The focus problem of this research is what are the roles of Dayak women in the domestic and public spaces. To solve problems and achieve goals, qualitative descriptive methods are used, by describing the role of Dayak women in their lives and their resistance to gender injustice. Feminist theory is used to analyze the forms and roles of Dayak women in overcoming their problems. The results of the study prove/show that Dayak women are socially and intellectually independent women. This study concludes that Dayak women have a very important role in their community because they have social and intellectual independence.

Abstract

This research aims (1) to know the development process in the learning of short story writing, (2) to measure the validity and practicality of short story writing using synectics learning model, and (3) to measure the effectiveness of short story writing using synectics learning model. It uses a Research and Development (R&D) model of Borg and Gall. The population of this research is 30 students of class XI SMK Negeri 2 Samarinda. Trials were conducted in two stages, small group and large group or field trials. Methods of data collection include observation, interview, and test. It applies descriptive and qualitative techniques to analyze the data.

Abstract

Linguistic characteristics in Indonesian and Benuaq language may be different and have their own characteristics, one of which is in their phonological aspects. This research aims to do a contrastive analysis of vowel and consonant phonemes in Indonesian and Benuaq language. It discusses about differences in vowel and consonant phonemes in Indonesian and Benuaq language. It uses structural linguistic theory to analyze the vowel and consonant phonemes based on phonological studies. It applies literature study method and interviews, like recording techniques and notes. The data analysis uses descriptive analytical methods to determine the differences in vowel and consonant phonemes. The results of this study reveal that Benuaq language has 23 consonant phonemes (b, p, pm, m, w, d, t, tn, s, n, l, r, j, c, ~ n, y, k, kG, g, G, q , h, and ?), six short vowels (i, u, e, |, o, and a), and five long vowels (i :, e :, u :, o :, and a :). Whereas, Indonesian has 22 consonant phonemes (b, p, f, m, w, d, t, s, ş, n, l, r, j, c, ~ n, y, k, kh , g, G, h, and z), six short vowels (i, u, e, |, o, and a), and no long vowels. Both languages have differences and similarities in the contrastive analysis.

Abstract

Product development of interactive compact disc media in reading poetry learning with self directed learning model for class XII of SMK Negeri 14 Samarinda  is highly recommendedto be used as an innovation and improve the quality of learning. This study aims to determinethe process of developing an interactive compact disc media and reveal the quality of products in the form of validity, attractiveness and effectiveness of the use of interactive media product development compact disc in reading poetry learning with self directed learning model. This research uses Research & Development (R & D) approach. The results of this study mention the quality of products through the assessment of material experts mentioned 92%, designers oflearning mentions 92.8%, linguists mention 87.25 and media experts 1 mentions 90.6% and media expert 2 mentions 94.6%. The results of the assessment through APKG I and II with the achievementof  92 - 91.66 and 91.96 - 91.07 are in the range 75.01% - 100.00%, without revision, enter the categoryis very valid. Product attractiveness through small group trial with 88.0% percentage and large group trialwith percentage of 87,96% , entered very interesting category. The effectiveness of the product through student activity with the percentage of 85.51% enter the category very active (effective)

Abstract

This research aims to determine the design of teaching materials and to know the implementation and effectiveness in the learning of explanation text writing. It uses the development of teaching materials and cooperative learning strategy (STAD) on 11th grade students of SMK Negeri 6 Samarinda. It is a research and development. This study brings about teaching material products proved by validator teams and education practitioners. The data analysis shows that STAD can improve the average of students’ learning outcomes and percentage of students’ mastery learning. The average is 67.93 on the first experiment of big group and 92,57 on the second experiment.
