Abstract

Integral calculus is one of the mathematics courses that requires an adequate level of reasoning, communication skills and higher-order thinking skills to be able to understand and solve problems. The purpose of this study was to identify student errors based on Newman's Error Analysis (NEA) in solving integral calculus problems accompanied by the provision of scaffolding. The research subjects were students of STKIP Hermon Timika's Mathematics Education Study Program who attended integral calculus lectures. The results showed that there were no errors made by students on indicator type 1 (reading error), the average student made an error in indicator 2 (comprehension error) of 39%, the average error on indicator 3 (transformation error) was 71%. , the average error in indicator 4 (process skills error) is 76% and the average error most often made in indicator 5 (encoding error) is 87%. The scaffolding used to overcome all student errors only reached level 2 scaffolding, namely explaining, reviewing, and restructuring. The provision of scaffolding by lecturers is to explain, review and restructure so as to encourage students to correct these mistakes. Based on the results of this study, lecturers are expected to conduct meaningful lecture activities for students of STKIP Hermon Timika's Mathematics Education Study, so that it is not easy to forget the material concepts that have been explained.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of problem solving in the material system of two variables linear equations based on the level of mathematical ability of students categorized in 3 levels, namely high, medium and low. In addition, it was also to find out the problem-solving ability for each step of the solution. The population in this study was students of class VIII SMP Negeri 7 Mataram, with a sample of class VIII.B. Where the sampling technique was done by researcher based on certain considerations that best meet the information needed in research. This type of research was qualitative descriptive study. The results showed that students with high mathematical ability had an average problem solving ability of 66.2 with good criteria. Students with moderate mathematical ability had an average problem solving ability of 58.0 with sufficient criteria. Students with low levels of mathematical ability had an average problem solving ability of 40.5 with low criteria. The average problem solving ability of students was 56.3 with sufficient criteria.

Abstract

Mathematical resilience is a positive affective trait of students when learning mathematics. This study aims to obtain an overview of the mathematical resilience of junior high school students on the SPLDV material. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Contributing by taking 30 students of class VIII as research subjects. The research subjects used were selected by purposive sampling. The instrument used is a mathematical resilience questionnaire on the material of a two-variable linier equation system. Steps in data analysis include: (1) reduction of data and categories; (2) data presentation; and (3) drawing conclusions and verification. The results showed that the VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sumbang were divided into 3 levels of mathematical resilience, namely students who had a high level of mathematical resilience had high confidence, were very easy to socialize, had high mathematical communication skills, had excellent self-control and high self-motivation; students who have a moderate level of mathematical resilience have good confidence and trust, have poor mathematical communication skills, are less able to socialize, lack self-control but still have self-motivation to correct failures; students who have low levels of mathematical resilience have low confidence, low self-motivation, have difficulty socializing, have low mathematical abilities, and have low self-control because they are easily frustrated.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out mathematics learning using a realistic learning model on exponent numbers in class IX of junior high school 5 north Tanimbar, Tanimbar Islands Regency. The subjects of this study were students of class IX of junior high school 5 north Tanimbar, Tanimbar Islands Regency, totaling 23 students. This research was carried out in 4 meetings, namely (1) the implementation of the initial test, (2) the implementation of the first learning, (3) the implementation of the second learning, (4) the implementation of the formative test. Quantitative data in the form of student learning outcomes obtained through tests. The results showed that : (1) there was an increase in student learning outcomes by learning using the PMR model.

Abstract

Abstract This research was conducted to see whether the Peer Teaching method was effective in learning mathematics in class IX at SMP Negeri 4 Tarakan. This study uses a posttest-only control design with a quasi research type. The research was conducted at Tarakan 4 Public Middle School and the research population was class IX for the 2022/2023 academic year. The sampling method is Simple Random Sampling, with class IX-8 as the control class and class IX-10 as the experimental class. Data collection with description test instruments and documentation. The analysis technique uses descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Descriptive analysis namely standard deviation and average. Then test the hypothesis using the independent sample t-test (t test). The research results obtained 4.140 > 1.672, so H0 was rejected, namely the peer teaching method was effective for class IX student learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 4 Tarakan.

Abstract

Mathematics is a universal science that underlies the development of modern technology, so that mathematics has an important role in various scientific disciplines, one of which is physics. Physics students need mathematical skills to understand physics concepts. The purpose of this research is to analyze the mathematical problem solving abilities of physics education students in terms of the Myers-Briggs personality type. This type of research is quantitative. The population is physics education students at the Mataram University of the 2022/2023 academic year. The research instrument are a questionnaire to measure personality types (artisans, guardians, idealists, and rationals) and mathematics tests (essay questions). Descriptively, most students have not been able to make conclusions from the solutions obtained. Inferentially, the average math scores of rational personality students were higher than the average math scores of guardian, artisan, and idealist personality students. Thus, students of physics education of rational types have better mathematical problem solving abilities than guardian, artisan, and idealist types.
