Abstract

Plant growth and productivity influenced by light. Sunlight activates light-dependent reactions or LDR and Calvin cycle or LIR in plant. Different light intensity induce change of LDR and LIR. Adaptation through efficiency of photon absorption, regulation of photosystem II - photosystem I, and carbon fixation can make photosynthesis efficiently. This paper aims to review research on photosynthesis mechanism in sun and shade plants. Alteration of light absorption in plants produce morphological and physiological adaptations. Plant adaptation mechanism use sieve effect, light channeling, and acclimatization. Distribution of chlorophyll in both types of plants changed the photosynthesis photon flux density. Propagation and distribution of light needed through vacuoles to minimize the distance on electron transport chain. Physiological acclimatization accelerates by changing the composition of chlorophyll and PSII / PSI ratio. Shade plants have a high ratio PS II / PSI and high ratio chlorophyll a / b to increase the light-harvesting complex and make photosynthesis efficiently.

Abstract

Research on butterfly diversity has been carried out, especially in Java, but not all regions in Indonesia have obtained data on butterfly diversity. One in the North Central Timor Regency is still not much done, especially around the banks of the river Maslete, North Central Timor Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of butterflies, to know the diversity of butterflies, to determine environmental factors that affect the life of butterflies around the banks of the river Maslete, North Central Timor Regency and to determine the implementation of research results in learning biology in school. The method used in this study is the roaming method. Determination of sampling locations is done by purposive sampling method. Sampling was carried out by following a 500m transect line, the transect line was made on the transect line. The distance between subtransects is 250m. In each subtransect, 2 plots of 5x5 m2 were made. Butterflies are captured using nets and identification is based on the morphological characteristics of the butterfly. The data obtained were analyzed for diversity using the Shannon-wienner diversity index. The results of research around the banks of the river maslete found 7 types of butterflies belonging to 3 families namely Pieridae with 3 types, Nymphalidae with 2 types and Papilionidae with 2 types. The index of butterfly diversity around the banks of the Maslete River is relatively low with an H value of 0.9884. The results of measurements of environmental parameters around the Maslete riverbanks show that air temperatures range between 34.37-34.67o C and humidity ranges between 57-59%.

Abstract

Research on the effect of natural and artificial feed on the growth and survival of African catfish at the Noekele Central Seed Center in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The center only uses artificial food as fish food while natural food has never been used, therefore researchers are motivated to use natural food then researchers want to see how the influence of natural food is. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of natural and artificial feeding on the growth and survival of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus Burchell) at the Noekele Central Seed Center in Kupang Regency, knowing the implementation of research results on the learning process of biology at school. The method used in this study is an experimental study using an experimental design that is Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments, each treatment was repeated 3 times namely P0 (Control), P1 (Pellets), and P2 (Silkworms). The data analysis technique used in this study was that this study was analyzed using analysis of variance (Anova) in accordance with the Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The average subsequent treatment was tested using the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) with a significant level of 5%. The results showed that the treatment of artificial feed (pellets) and natural feed (silk worms) showed significant differences between the treatments for growth and survival of Dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus Burchell.). The highest absolute length growth results were found in the P2 treatment of natural silk worm feed of 3.10 cm and the absolute weight of 2.68 grams of survival of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus Burchell.) Highest seeds in natural and artificial food which was 100%.

Abstract

21st-century learning emphasizes the concept of student-centered learning, so that learning is more meaningful for students, because students are required not only to do the task but also to understand important concepts. However, the problem now faced is the still low understanding of students' concepts. One reason is the teacher teaching method that is still conventional. The learning model that is considered to improve students' conceptual understanding is guided inquiry with mind map and cooperative type TGT. The purpose of this study is to see the effect of guided inquiry learning model with a mind map and cooperative type TGT on understanding students' concepts. The subjects in this study were seventh-grade students of SMPK St. Yoseph Noelbaki. The data of the research results were analyzed by analysis of one-way variance and descriptive. The results showed that there was an effect of the implementation of a guided inquiry learning model with mind map and cooperative TGT type on students' conceptual understanding, with a probability value (sig.) Of 0.01 smaller than the alpha value of 0.05.

Abstract

This study discusses fatherly learning about the initial ability of learning outcomes of Biology participants in grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Kaledupa. This research can help educators in preparing teaching materials for students before starting learning. This type of research used in this study is ex post facto. The population in this study were all class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Kaledupa with a total of 3 classes, while the sample was obtained by 1 class using purposive sampling. The instrument for collecting data uses test instruments for students' initial abilities as well as for learning outcomes. The results of the research show what is meant by Preliminary Principles on the learning outcomes of Biology Science VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Kaledupa. This is based on the results of hypothesis testing using simple regression analysis obtained significance value of 0.004 <0.05. Also, from a simple regression analysis table supported by an initial ability regression coefficient of 0.764 which is claimed to support every 1% of the initial ability score, the added learning outcome score is 0.764. This regression coefficient is positive, so it can be agreed that the direction of the effect of the initial ability variable on learning outcomes is positive.
