Abstract

The study examined the effect of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) adoption on value relevance of accounting information of listed deposit money banks (DBMs) in Nigeria for the period from 2007 to 2020.  The pre IFRS adoption period spanned from 2007 to 2011 while post adoption period spanned from 2012 to 2020.  The study adopted an ex-post facto research design because the study is purely secondary in nature. The population for the study consisted of all the 15 deposit money banks listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited as at 31st December 2020, with a sample size of 12 banks. The Ohlson model was adopted for the study. Using ordinary least square regression, the study found out that post IFRS adoption model has more explanatory power than the pre IFRS adoption period.  Also, earning per share moderated by IFRS has a positive and significant effect on market price per share and book value per share moderated by IFRS has negative and significant effect on market price. The study concluded that earning per share is more value relevant with IFRS adoption of the listed deposit money banks in Nigeria while the value relevance of book value decreases with IFRS adoption of listed deposit money banks in Nigeria. The study recommended among others that prospective investors, shareholders, owners, and users of accounting data should place a greater emphasis on earnings per share, which has the strongest positive link with the market share price of listed DMBs in Nigeria

Abstract

The aim of this study was to establish ODA as an aid to manufacturing that leads to economic growth using data from Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) countries. The study adopted manufacturing as a percentage of GDP as a mediator between ODA and economic growth. The United Nations report (2020) observed that close to half of the population in the region are living below the poverty datum line. This is why the researcher saw it fitting to conduct a research on how ODA can better result into economic growth. The theory that was utilized in the research is the Absorptive capacity model which helped in developing a theoretical framework that links manufacturing as a mediating variable between ODA and economic growth. Absorptive capacity formed a very important aspect in this research and it is measured by manufacturing. The Random Effects Model was also used in data analysis which revealed that ODA has positive impact on economic growth.

Abstract

The decline in people's purchasing power can be caused by market conditions, which of course, has an impact on decreasing the income of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) actors. This research was conducted to determine the ability to understand market conditions and the speed of innovation of MSME entrepreneurs toward increasing their sales in the City of Ternate. Research data was collected through a questionnaire on MSE actors in 5 sub-districts across Ternate. A total of 339 questionnaires were collected. Research data were analyzed using SEM-PLS analysis. The results show that market conditions and the speed of innovation directly affect the increase in sales. The level of innovation can mediate the influence of market conditions on sales. This finding has implications for MSEs to have the ability to understand market conditions and the pace of innovation in managing their business amid rapidly changing market conditions. Another interest for the Regional Government of the City of Ternate is to conduct training and policy assistance related to very rapid changes in market conditions due to changes in consumer tastes.
