Abstract

Intoduction: Health education was one of nursing interventions that aimed to change behavior in increasing health status that can be done with syndicate groups discussion learning method. This study was aimed to examine influence of syndicate groups method about ARIs prevention in changing female adolescence’s knowledge and attitude at Amanatul Ummah Educational Institution, Mojokerto. Methods: This study was a quasy-experiment using pretest-posttest controlgroup design. Population was adolescence of Nurul Ummah Boarding School (20 respondents) as the treatment group and adolescence of Amanatul Ummah Boarding School (20 respondents) as the control group, which taken according to simple random sampling. Knowledge and attitude as dependent variables and syndicate groups method as independent variable. Data were collected by using questionnaire then analyzed with level of significance p<0.05 by Wilcoxon sign rank test and Mann Whitney test.Result: Syndicate groups method had effect on knowledge but not on attitude.Wilcoxon test of knowledge for treatment group showed p=0.001, where Mann Whitney posttest showed p=0.000. Otherwise, Wilcoxon test of attitude for treatment group showed p=0.655, where Mann Whitney posttest showed p=0.348.Discussion: The conclusion is health education with syndicate groups method about ARIs prevention in boarding school can increase the level of knowledge but there is no significant change in attitude. Researcher believes that there were other factors that influenced the attitude posttest results, such as: factors of respondents; factors offacilitators, and; weaknesses of the implementation process and method of syndicate groups.

Abstract

Introduction: The Diabetes patient’s have risk of gangrene 5 times greater than that effect of amputation and death. Prevalence of diabetic foot most happens in under 60 years old about 80% than > 60 years old. Health education on a diabetes foot care can prevent diabetic foot, beside blood glucose regulation. The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of simulation game of diabetic foot care toward behavior the patient with Diabetes mellitus.Method: The research used pre experimental pre-post test design with purposive sampling. The population was patients Diabetes mellitus in Posyandu Lansia Simoangin-angin. Total sample was 13 respondents, taken according to inclusion criteria. The independent variable was health education using simulation game method about diabetic foot care and the dependent variable’s were knowledge, attitude and action. Data were collected by using questioners then analyzed using wilcoxon signed ranks test, with level of significance p≤0.05.Result: The results showed significant changes in knowledge, attitude and action of diabetic foot care (p=0.002 for knowledge, p=0.034 for attitude, and p=0.004 for action) which means that there were influences of health education by simulation game of diabetic foot care on knowledge, attitude and action the patients with Diabetes mellitus in middle age at Posyandu Lansia Simoangin-angin.Discussion: It can be concluded that health education given by simulation game has influenced on knowledge, attitude and action of patients with Diabetes mellitus. The next research are expected to apply health education by simulation game in another cases.

Abstract

Introduction: Aging process affects physical and mental changes that lead to lower resistance, resulting in the onset of various diseases and most commonly found is hypertension. Therapeutic gardening is hobby that can be used as a medical therapy to lower blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of therapeutical gardening in blood pressure changes in elderly with hypertension in UPT PSLU Magetan. Methods: This study was a pre-experimental study using one-group pre-post test design. The population was elderly with hypertension at UPT PSLU Magetan. Sampling technique used was purposive sampling with 10 respondents who were selected based on inclusion criteria. The independent variables in this study was therapeutical gardening and the dependent variable was blood pressures, which were measured with sphygnomanometer and stethoscope. Data were analyzed using paired t test with significance value p < 0.05.Result: The average of systolic blood pressure pre-test was 161 mmHg and post-test was 149 mmHg with paired t test showed p = 0.013 and the average of diastolic blood pressure showed pre-test was 83 mmHg and post-test was 79 mmHg and paired t test showed p = 0.037, that showed therapeutical gardening is effective to change blood pressure in elderly with hypertension.Discussion: Therapeutic gardening effectively changes blood pressure in elderly withhypertension, so that the elderly are expected to perform therapeutical gardening as one of nonpharmacological alternative to lowering blood pressure, because it can be done independently or together and does not cause side effects.

Abstract

Introduction: Urology surgical is a current surgical procedure for tractus urogenitalis disease. Issue in post urology surgical is a pain. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is one of the nursing intervention that uses low-voltage electrical current for pain relief. TENS can improve pain mechanisms and release of endorphins to reduce pain. The aims of this study was to determine the effect of TENS on pain intensity of postoperative urology surgical patient in Haji Surabaya Public Hospital. Methods: A quasy experiment with non randomized control group pre post design was used in this study. Recruting sample by purposive sampling. There were 12 samples (6 respondents as the control group and 6 respondents as the treatment group) which recruit using purposive sampling. Independent variable was TENS. Dependent variable was pain intensity. The pain was measured by Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann Whitney.Result: Results of this study showed that there was a significant effect of TENS on pain intensity of postoperative urology surgical patient in Haji Surabaya Public Hospital. In the treatment group Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test p=0.084 (p<0.05), while in the control group p=0.020 (p<0.05). Mann Whitney=0.003 (p<0.05).Discussion: It can be concluded that there was a significant effect of TENS on pain intensity of postoperative urology surgical patient in Haji Surabaya Public Hospital. TENS is recommended for the independent nursing intervention to reduce postoperative urology surgical pain. Based on this result can be done to further research should analyze several factors that affects pain patients after surgical urology. Variable confounding are ethnic and cultural values, stage of development, environment and individual support, the experience of surgery pain, anxiety and stress, controls complication post surgical happened, alternative medication history, drugshistory, surgical history and disease history.

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus’s with high blood glucose level is at a risk to get ulcus diabeticum because do not do the foot care. The aimed of this research was to examine effectivity of foot care education by guidance motion picture and leaflet media in Diabetes mellitus type 2’s behavior in Puskesmas Loceret. Methods: This research was using quasy-experiment with pretest-posttest control group design. The population were Diabetes mellitus type 2’s at Puskesmas Loceret working area. This research used 3 group, they were treatment group (guidance motion picture+leaflet), positive control group 1 (guidance motion picture), and positive control group 2 (leaflet), each group consisted of 10 respondents taken according to purposive sampling from January-March 2014. Data were collected using questionnaire and observation and then analyzed using Wilcoxon signed rank test and Kruskal-Wallis test with level of significance <0.05.Result: Results showed that increasing knowledge is significant for treatment group (p=0.005), the positive control group 1 (p=0.011), the positive control group 2 (p=0.097). Analysis of attitude for all group (p=0.005). Analysis of action for treatment group (p=0.005), positive control group 1 (p=0.006), the positive control group 2 (p=0.011). There are different effectivity between guidance motion picture+leaflet combination, guidance motion picture, and leaflet in increasing knowledge (p=0.047), attitude (0.022), and action (p=0.037).Discussion: It can be concluded that education with guidance motion picture+leaflet combination, guidance motion picture, and leaflet media influence non ulcus foot care behavior, but for leaflet, it does not influence their knowledge. So, nurses can use one of that media to get effective influence when giving health education to Diabetes mellitus type 2’s. Further research should evaluate other factors of knowledge, attitude, and action also do direct observation of action to gain more accurate data.
