Abstract

This research aims to realize the implementation and integrated project-based learning (PBL) activities in education 4.0 towards EFL students’ activities. This study uses qualitative methods as a framework for analyzing and collecting data. The data were obtained from observations and interviews. The results showed that the use of Google Classroom, Comic Page Creator, and Learning Apps can complement projects in the EFL class; the use of Google Classroom, Comic Page Creator, and Learning Apps can help students access the material and complete the Project; and most students integrating PBL into Education 4.0 can improve their English language skills.

Abstract

This research aims to know the personality (introvert) affects the students on their speaking English performance and influences the students in their communication,and to know the effort of the introvert students to handle the personality problem inspeaking English performance. In order to collect the data, observation,questionnaire and interview was three research instrument used.The participant of this research was a 26 students in the second semester of EnglishEducation Department, Ibn Khaldun University Bogor. Finally for the result of thisresearch revealed that for the score was 2.23 in average of students speakingperformance, it means fair slightly good. This statement was strengthened with thedata analysis that the most affecting factors from psychological aspects towardsintrovert students in speaking skill were depressed (92%). From the linguisticsfactors, eight of thirteen students said vocabulary and grammar was the commonproblem. And six of thirteen students experienced difficulties in pronunciation.Introvert students used a various strategies to overcome their public speakingproblems, several students try to improving their speak ability by read a book andrecord it, sing an English song, have a conversation every day, by join thecommunity outside of the university, help their brother/sister do their homework,talk with the foreigner, watch YouTube.

Abstract

Corpus linguistics learns about language with the help of modern computer technology in language data collection. language corpora are one of the important aspects related to langaunge corpora is a matter of copyright, especially if the findings from the corpus will be disseminated through handouts or published in any form.The research explored the field of computational linguistics to find the meaning of Creative Writing Context in online learning during pandemic. Corpus-based research is also considered as a broad approach to qualitative research or as a method for gathering qualitative data. more than 1 million sentences that connect creative words with writing. Broadly speaking, if we are looking for creative words, it will be related to writing.

Abstract

Strengthening Character Education is an educational program in schools to strengthen students' character with moral values. The Indonesian government launched this program to faced students’ moral degradation. As the country that used English as a Foreign Language (EFL), this study investigates the challenges faced by a teacher in the implementation of Strengthening Character Education in the EFL classroom and to know teacher strategy to change the challenges become opportunities. This study conducted a case study of the EFL teacher in Junior High School. The data collection consisted of classroom observation, interview, documentation, and data triangulation. The findings gained, the teacher has implemented several character values in the EFL classroom activities. The teacher faced challenges coming from the students, learning situations, and learning materials. For the opportunities, there was classroom management and being a role model.

Abstract

Academic writing activities play an important role for students at the tertiary level. Because students are required to be mastered to write academically. The aim of this research was to know-how is the teaching of writing for academic purposes, to know how students perceive the teaching of writing for academic purposes, and to know how a teacher perceives the teaching of writing for academic purposes. Case study was used as the research design in the paradigm of the qualitative and 20 students (in the 5th semester) and 1 teacher from Bogor Ibn Khaldun University were invited as a research participant. Observation, interview, photovoice, voice recorder, and documents were used as a research instrument to get the data. The result of this study showed the teacher taught the materials before each student was required to write an essay. The teacher provided feedback and comment on their essay in the process of writing an essay. Students did the revising process to make their essays better. The students also had a positive perception of the teaching of writing for academic purposes. There were three aspects that students perceive on the teaching writing for academic purposes those were the teaching practice, teachers’ feedback, and students’ problems or challenges. Besides, the teacher perceives there were some problems encountered in the teaching of writing for academic purposes. The problems encountered were students’ level proficiency, students’ motivation, technical problems in the classroom, the production of the students’ essay, and the support from the leader.

Abstract

This short contribution is a brief theoretical perspective of English Language Teacher Education (ELTE) from the existing theories started from 1985 to 2014. It reviews the theories of English language teacher education around the globe and in Indonesia. The main focus of this article is concerned with the knowledge base and the curriculum viewed from various perspectives. To link the theories of English language teacher education in Indonesia with the needs of school context, an overview of the existing curriculum at secondary level adds further description.
