Abstract

Arthropods play a role in the decomposition process of organic matter. The existence of arthropods in soil is affected by environment. This research is aiming to find out the temperature of humidity and population of arthropods in a difference distance from the plate and ditch of application towards application field and without application of palm oil mill effluent (POME). The research is done in Bukit Maradja Estate, PT. SIPEF in April to August 2017. The research design is used random design of factorial group, the fist factor is the sampling area, the second factor is the distance from the plate to the application ditch. The parameter testing arranged on the list of variance and Least Significance Difference (LSD) test, with 5% value. The research result showed temperature and population of arthropods is no different between application area and without application area (POME), while soil humidity showed significance difference between application area and without application area (POME). Temperature, humidity and population of arthropods has no significance difference in sampling area 0cm, 100cm, 200cm, 300cm and 400cm from plate edge and POME application ditch. The number of arthropods is affected by temperature and soil humidity. In application area of POME was found 5 classes of arthropods and 34 species. Population of arthropods in POME application area is 261 individuals and without POME application is 146 individual.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the influence of Mucuna bracteata as cover crop on some physical and chemical properties of ultisol at rubber plantation area with immature plant period on flat and slope ultisol area. The research was conducted at Bandar Pinang Estate, PT. Tolan Tiga Indonesia (SIPEF Group), Desa Bandar Pinang, Bintang Bayu Sub-district, Serdang Bedagai District, Sumatera Utara Province from May to August 2016. Soil sampling is distinguished by plant age, topography and the presence of cover crop (Mucuna bracteata). The soil is taken composite by the zigzag method. From each point is taken as much as 1 Kg of soil using a soil drill at a depth of 0-20 cm then mixed well and used as much as 5 Kg. Data processing is done descriptively. The observation parameters were soil texture, bulk density, infiltration, organic matter content, nitrogen content and soil pH. Mucuna bracteata planting was influencing on some physical and chemical properties of ultisol in rubber plantation. The role of Mucuna bracteata to physical properties of ultisol is to fix bulk density in flat area as 9.22% and on slope area as 2.19%. The average infiltration class goes into the quick criteria and the soil texture is sandy loam soil. The role of Mucuna bracteata to chemical properties of ultisol is to increase soil organic matter in flat area as 44.96% and on slope area as 59.15%, increase the soil nitrogen level in the flat area as 57.14% and in the slope area as 91.67%, there was no significant difference between pH in both flat and slope areas.

Abstract

Mucuna bracteata is one of legume cover land that is currently much used by oil palm and rubber plantations. The benefits of Mucuna bracteata are rapid growth, high biomass yields, N fixation from the air, tolerant to the diseases and pest attacks is not well-liked by livestock because the leaves contain high levels of phenol . Activity fixation of Nitrogen from the air were marked by the formation of rhizobia. In some plantation crop Mucuna bracteata rhizobia form a slow, nodules, formed one year after planting. Based on this research required the addition of rhizobium bacteria in order to inokulan the formation of rhizobia can take place properly. The research was carried out in the area of nursery STIPAP. Research has been done from April – July 2017 with the parameter length swirl (cm), number of leaves (strands), total dry weight, root nodule rhizobia. Treatment of planting material (M) and Rhizobium no significant effect on the length of tendrils. Treatment of planting material (M) had significant effect on leaf number parameter, treatment of seed planting material(M0) 135,50; (M1) 30,75 (64% compared to M0), Rhizobium treatment had no significant effect on leaf number. The treatment of planting material had significant effect on the number of root nodule (M0) 135.50; (M1 ¬) 57 ie 42%. The effect on the weight of root nodule 15.06 g (M0), 10.08 g (M1) with a percentage of 64%. N content of Mucuna bracteata leaf in all observations belong to high category with value N> 3,1%.

Abstract

The research was conducted in July to August 2017 at Tanah Besih Estate PT. Socfindo. The method used Factorial Design with the treatment age of plant and tapping time. The results of this research show that the treatment effected to latex yield, latex volume, latex drops frequency, lump and scrub weight which are contained on W1 and tapping time was at 04.00 a.m.. Age of plant treatment effected to the latex yield, latex volume, latex drop frequency, lump weight and scrub weight, which are contained on the U1 at the age of 13 years old plants. Interactions treatment between tapping time and age of plant had no effect to the real production of Latex.

Abstract

The productivity of oil palm plants is influenced by genetic factor planting materials, soil, climate, cultivation and plant maintenance. Nursery is the first step to prepare the prime plant material. In the implementation of the nursery, fertilization is one important maintenance factor and should be done with reference to 4T (Exactly Types, Dosage, Time and Method). Loss of fertilizer is an important thing to be controlled. This research is a conservation action by packing fertilizer in sachet bag and conservation treatment. The research was conducted in August 2016- June 2017 at STIPAP. The study used 2x2 Factorial Design with the first Factor of Broadcast System, Sachet and the second factor was with and without conservation. The best treatment was SK1 Sachet application and conservation increased leaf number 14,44 (6%), girth 18,60 cm (14%) and chlorophyll 63,16 (20%).

Abstract

The use of leaf color chart is one way to analyze fertilizer needs. This tool is suitable to optimize the delivery of N, P, and K elements to oil palm. The use of visual technology in the form of image processing can facilitate in analyzing an object without directly related to the object being observed. The image of oil palm through image processing can be analyzed with the greenishness of the leaves so as to predict the fertility of oil palms.

Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) is one of important plantations in the Indonesia role economy. Oil palm can be attacked by various pests or diseases from the nursery. One of the important pests is Oryctes rhinoceros. Some control methods are manually, mechanically, chemically and biologically which are environmentally friendly. One of the biological controls of the Oryctes larvae is with Aspergillus sp. This research was conducted at STIPAP Medan in June - July 2017. Treatment of Aspergillus A0, A1, A2, A3, and A4 bioinsecticides, concentrations of 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 g / l. This study aims to determine the speed of mortality of larvae and concentration of Aspergillus effective. From the results of this study it can be concluded that mortality of O. rhinoceros larvae seen on day 18 after application of Aspergillus sp at the treatment A4 with dose 40 gram Aspergillus sp and Aspergillus sp. effective for controlling the O. rhinoceros larvae with mortality average above 90%.

Abstract

ABSTRACT White root disease (WRD) is a very harmful disease in rubber planting material preparation. The treatment method for infected budded stump has not been determined; therefore, the infected stump is usually directly eradicated through burning. This research aimed to understand the effect of the sulfuric compound to WRD rate and budded stump growth in polybag nursery. The research was arranged based on Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non-factorial with chemical concentration treatment using four levels i.e. 0 g/l (control), 2 g/l, 4 g/l, 6 g/l, dan 8 g/l that was carried out at Sungei Putih Research Center Greenhouse in Galang, Deli Serdang. The trial result indicated that the submersion of infected budded stump level two into sulfuric solution up to the concentration of 8 g/l for 15 minutes did not decrease WRD rate. The shoots growth showed was not significantly different than without submersion. The submersion method is seemed not proper to treat WRD on the budded stump since it only can be conducted once at the beginning of the stump planting into the polybag. Therefore, research on the effect of sulfur for WRD treatment on the budded stump has to be carried out variously from the dosage as well as application method viewpoint.

Abstract

DOBI (Deterioration Of Bleachibility Index) or purity power index is the ratio of carotene and secondaryoxidation products to CPO (Crude Palm Oil). Caroten is one of the minor component that present in theoil. The main components of carotene are α- and β-carotene. The purpose of this study was to determinethe effect of unripe fruits conditions and wounds to DOBI value and β-carotene content. The research hasdone at Palm Oil Mill Bagerpang and the Laboratory of IOPRI Medan. The results showed the conditionof unripe fruit has a value of DOBI 3.06 indicates good quality CPO and wound conditions have a value ofDOBI 2.88 and the condition of unripe fruit has β-carotene content of 600 ppm is still above the averagecompared to the wound.

Abstract

The results showed the condition of unripe fruit has a value of DOBI 3.06 indicates good quality CPO and wound conditions have a value of DOBI 2.88 and the condition of unripe fruit has β-carotene content of 600 ppm is still above the average compared to the wound.
