Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the results analysis of the emancipation of Harley Quinn in the Birds Of Prey movie (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn) based on feminism theory. The data analysis, the writer used descriptive analysis techniques. The method used is a descriptive qualitative methods, the writer used data in the form of movie scenes because the data comes from pictures of scenes, dialogue and text. The writer analyzing them by watching and reading the transcripts of the movies, and then describe and present them. The results of this study showed emancipation of Harley Quinn is her struggle to survive and fight against the enemies, even though everyone underestimated because she has been regardless the influence of the Joker who previously always protected her. However in the end she was able to prove her independence to rise from adversity and start a new purpose in life. So she and her friends formed Birds of Prey to quell evil.

Abstract

The Covid-19 epidemic, which started in Wuhan, China in 2019, has spread to a number of countries, including Indonesia. Learning from Home is another term for online learning (BDR). To show support for government policies and to assist students in meeting their educational needs, SMKN 1 Bakung adopts an online learning strategy using e-learning. The aim of this article is to show many types of literature and the use of devices in e-learning as a source of literature. Qualitative research is used for this research. After analyzing the data, it could be concluded that in e-learning SMKN 1 Bakung, there are some types of works of literature. They are separated based on their characteristics and locations. Due to the characteristic, they are textual, non-textual, and mixed documents. While based on the location, they are general and references collections. The literature is mostly in form of pdf to make them easily accessed by students. The use of devices in e-learning is as follows: accessing courses, accessing exams/tests as well as accessing teleconference.

Abstract

Figurative Language is commonly used in literary work, especially in a song lyric. The song is also commonly used by English teachers as a medium in the teaching process. It makes the learning proses becomes more interesting and satisfying. Besides that, the song also contains a moral message which is implied in the lyrics which can be used by the teachers to teach the students in building the characters. This research is aimed at finding the types and meaning of the figurative language which are used in Nirvana’s song lyrics and to explain the interpretation of the meanings which support moral message. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data of this research are the words, phrases, and sentences of Nirvana songs that use figurative language. The data source is taken from all of Nirvana's song lyrics in the “Nevermind” Album. The result of the research indicates that the there are 13 types of figurative language, those are Metaphor (32,7%), Symbolism (30,2%), Idiom (9,5%), Hyperbole (5,2%), Metonymy (3,4%), Satire (3,4%), Synecdoche (2,6%), Pun or Paronomasia (2,6%), (2,6%), Litotes (2,6%), Paradox (2,6%), Simile (1,7%), and Personification (0,9%); and that the most moral messages delivered in Nevermind Album are bravery and honesty.

Abstract

Effective teachers’ questioning is very important in controlling the classroom interaction, focusing students’ learning in the lesson, making the students be more active and motivated to hold their opinion. The objectives of this descriptive qualitative research are to find out the types of question used by the teacher and to describe the questioning purposes used by the teacher. The researchers collected the teacher’s questioning by doing observation and taking audio recording and note-taking. The first step in analyzing data is classifying the teachers’ questions and the purposes of questioning and then drawing the conclusions. The results of this research show that the dominant type of question used by the English teacher is remembering. Most of the teacher’s thinking skill questions are LOTS instead of HOTS.  Meanwhile, the dominant purpose of questioning is guiding the students to focus on the learning and to understand the material. The researchers suggest that the teachers use variety of questions not only for managing the class but also to focusing and motivating the students to express their opinion and be more active in the classroom and to developing students’ HOTS.

Abstract

Debate is considered as one of the best ways and interesting classroom activity of speaking practice. It is also one of the most challenging practices among the others. Furthermore, debate in the foreign language classroom generally helps English learners to develop their communicative abilities. Nevertheless, some English learners’ still have problems in doing debate. This study aims to explore the EFL student teachers’ problems and strategies to solve those problems in debate practicing in academic speaking class at Universitas Muria Kudus. This study is a qualitative research with the questionnaire and interview as the instruments of collecting data. The result of this study shows that there were eleven problems faced by the EFL student teachers in debate practicing in academic speaking class. Meanwhile, the students implement seven strategies to solve those problems. This study suggests that lecturers know the potential problems in debate practicing to anticipate the difficulties when teaching debate as well as to inform the students about the strategies to cope with the problems in debate practicing.
