Abstract

This paper discusses Islamic philanthropy from the view of Muhammadiyah, this was obtained because there was a shift in the meaning of philanthropy in the past. Experts _ stated that philanthropy is an important element in Islam. Among the forms of philanthropy in Islam is zakat, one of Islam’s five pillars. Among other forms of Islamic philanthropy are infaq, alms, and waqf. Therefore philanthropy has a major position in the life of Muslims. The meaning above is different from philanthropy which is known in today's society but does not reduce the substance of philanthropy itself. Islam has an important role in terms of spreading religion and knowledge, establishing educational institutions, and even in the field of welfare. One important vehicle for the spread of Islam is the mosque, which was built on philanthropy. The Prophet Muhammad set an example of philanthropic behavior by establishing a mosque. Apart from establishing mosques, educational institutions which are places to gain knowledge were also established on the basis of philanthropy. It is through these educational institutions that the dissemination of knowledge develops. This paper aims to provide an understanding to the general public regarding the shift in the meaning of Islamic philanthropy, through the view of Muhammadiyah as the primary data source. The conclusion in this paper uses the theory of changes in Islamic law and uses a normative approach, of course with the aim of trying to reveal the values of truth in Islamic philanthropic practices in society so that they should be actualized in the future. Keywords: Islamic Philanthropy, Muhammadiyah, Theory of change in Islamic law

Abstract

The basic principles attached to Islamic banks direct Islamic banks to minimize their exposure to excessive financing. However, various previous studies have shown the tendency for financing by Islamic banks to take excessive risks. On the other hand, this type of sharia financing contract tends to be protective in a downturn in the economy. The purpose of this study is to analyze the risk-taking behaviour of Islamic banks in financing and their response to the economy. This study uses a qualitative approach with technical analysis of literature studies. The result is that financing by Islamic banks at a certain Non-Performing Financing (NPF) threshold can lead them to take bold risks. The comparative advantage that exists in this type of Islamic bank financing is countercyclical so that it can withstand deterioration in a declining economy. Keywords: Excessive risk; Islamic bank financing; Risk-taking behaviour

Abstract

The current sharia financial and banking system, especially in Indonesia, is increasingly showing its rapid performance and development, especially in February 2021, which is the most important moment for the inauguration of the merger of three sharia state-owned banks. The merger of three state-owned Islamic banks is nothing but a form of government effort in providing facilities to the Indonesian Muslim community, increasing value for shareholders, increasing value for MSME players, the industrial sector, education, and other Islamic programs such as hajj savings, zakat waqf, Stiff Thought Muslims, is a challenge that will be faced by Indonesia in the process towards the 2030 call and becoming the center of world sharia finance. Is choosing an Islamic bank for the Indonesian Muslim community the best choice? It even becomes something that must be emulated by the Indonesian Muslim community, and if not, then there will be a view that "it is not said to be a true Muslim, if you still have funds and financing in conventional banks". The method used in this study uses qualitative comparative. If depositors, investors and debtors see the advantages that exist in banks based on the level of risk in facing the global financial crisis, then the choice of Islamic banks is the right choice. In general, the Islamic banking system is more stable than conventional banks. The reason is the Islamic banking system which does not recognize interest. Keywords: Banking System; Syariah banking; Asymmetric Information
