Abstract

Natural setting or circumstance in where a group of people or a society live and work could be a place where certain people’s character is shaped, especially the place which is prone toexperience calamities or natural disasters. Those people usually are naturallytrained to always be ready to face any sufferings. For them, the sufferings which are not avoidable are faced as ordinary day experiences, and they believe that behind these, there is a hope which is continually pursued. Even if they are facing some absurd and impossible or illogical facts,yet, all these are sincerely faced with patient endurance because of their faith in Jesus who teaches them that sufferings and their heavy load are inseparable parts of their very life. The aim of this writing is to seek and to find an elected figure to developendurable and undefeated spirituality as a preacher of the savific and liberating Word of God.Besides, he or she also should be able to describe some methods to support that endurable and undefeated spirituality in facing different many calamities and absurd ornon apprehensible events.

Abstract

Catechist is a mere human being called specially to proclaim the Word of God either by wods or by concret every day actions. This implies that the Word of God which is proclaimed by words should be correlated to the life witness a catechist gives in his or her family circumtance as well as in the society or Church’s milieu. This duty becomes heavier as the present human life is strongly invaded by changes of time marked by global trends such as materialism, consumersim, hedonism, individualism, pluralism, fundamentalism, and secularism. Such condition has become for the catechist a special challenge as a messenger or preacher of the Word of God. This is because of the majority of the life choices and orientations of modern mankind are directed to a more attractive offerings than to listening to the teachings given by the catechist. In some cases, even the catchist himself or herself also succumbs to these offerings, which make him or her become less commited to the original vision. This is the cross, means the work and responsibility the catechist should shoulder. That is why, in order that the catechist could stand erect as a crucified witness of the Word, he or she should be attached to three main pillars, which are faith, hope, and love. In the meantime, the catechist should not forget to build an efective and efficient evangelization politics for the realization of vision and mission of the evangelization.

Abstract

The basic problems in shaping the mentality of High School students in South East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur – NTT) at present time are proactive attitude in classroom, time discipline, learning enthusiasm, and willingness to give oneself to be educated by teachers. What is the root cause of the problem? Nowadays, education is supposedly no more applying banking system, which is like someone deposits a great number of money in a bank, so it is a theacher deposits a huge piled of knowledgeinto student’s brain. This surely for the student will be very much saturated and exhausting. On the contrary, it should be ‘teacher becomes student and student becomes teacher’ teaching-learning system (Paulo Freire). Therefore,it is very imperative for the Catechistto develop a dialogal teaching system,providing wide space for the prosess of action-reflection-action to work properly for the liberation and empowerment of student as true human being.

Abstract

Paul becomes the evangelizer who is militant in their era. The changes of name from Saulus (Santo Paulus) turns to Paul becomes the starting point of the forming of a tought evangelizer in delivering the faith of Jesus. Paul and his persistency has succeeded to bring the God’s words to go out from Jewish exclusifity and penetrates to the middle of other nations. That’s why, Paul can be considered as the role model to the evangelizers who lived at this era. Paul become an excellent catechist, having strong personalities, and the manner can be used as the role model to the catechist today. A Paul’s spirituality is the sample of a catechist excellent spirituality with good personality.

Abstract

One problem the Church is facing today is the question on how to meet local culture without putting faith aside. Second Vatican Council isfully aware of the problem and urges the Church to find different ways to set good dialog with local cultures. The term enculturation then becomes the main jargon in the process. All efforts made to communicate with the cultures are meant to help the faithful understand the Gospel messages and then have faith in God proclaimed by Jesus. Every Christian, the follower of Christ, has the same task to continue what Jesus has done, namely to proclaim the Good News to all people wherever the Christian is. Considering the local context will help him or her in carrying out this task effectively. Local culture is one of the many contexts which should not be neglected. As a matter of fact, a good observation and resarch on local culture will certainly help the Church in bringing the Good News more effectively to the people.

Abstract

Pope Francis pays a serious attention towards cathecists. The catechists have become lay apostles to help the priests in translating the Word of God into people’s life contects. The significance of the role of the cathecists has made them one of the main subjects in the promotion of christian faith. In conection with this Pope Francis again and again reminds us in his Evangelii Gaudium apostolic exhortation that the most important truth about the cathecism, is that every cahtecism activity should “begin with Christ”. Jesus Christ shoud be the starting point of the teaching rendered by a cathecist.

Abstract

Serving spirit has become the core spirit of SekolahTinggi Pastoral AtmaReksa (Stipar). The entire pulse of Stipar development from the beginning up to now never turns or even moves away from its duty to educate young servants for the church as well as for the nation. The challenges the servants often encounter in the field will never be able to minimize or weaken the serving spirit of Stipar institution to continue producing tough and talented catechists. The serving spirit flows out from ‘atmareksa’ is the pastoral spirit originated from Jesus Christ, the good Sheperd. Thisserving spirit is adopted to imitate Jesus Christ inrendering his service which had revolutionary changed the serving orientationin his time: Jesus practiced the down to earth spirit of serving which is really reached out the poor. By taking the option for the poor as his strategic choice in pastoral work, he effectively knocked down the upward-oriented serving practice as shown by Jewish leaders in his time. This serving spirit has become Stipar prime principal for the formation of the catechists, the lay apostles.
