Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors driving customer switching behaviour in the Nigerian road transport industry. Arguing from the theory of planned behaviour, a survey of 371 (306 valid) customers of the organized road transport industry in Nigeria’s South-East was carried out. Collected data was analyzed with multiple regression analysis (MRA) in SPSS 21.0. Findings indicate that service quality, price, and promotion are positive and significant drivers of switching behaviour, while location is not. The study recommends crafting marketing strategies around service quality, price, and promotion as effective approach to avoid customer swapping.

Abstract

The main intention of this study was to determine the drivers of customer switching behaviour in the Nigerian road transport industry using firms in the South East. The researchers adopted the cross-sectional survey research method in this study. The questionnaire served as the major instrument for primary data collection. The study focused on the customers of eight road transport firms (ABC, Peace Mass, God is Good Motors ITC, Abia Line, ESTMASS, TRACAS, and EboMass) in the South East of Nigeria. The sample size for the study was 371 customers of the selected transport firms. Thus, three key drivers of customer loyalty were considered in this study including physical facilities, complaint handling system and e-service availability. The study found positive correlation between all the variables and customer switching intention.

Abstract

Effective distribution channel strategy selection, application, and management does not only help to meet the shopping needs and habits of the target customers efficiently under the cost restraints of the seller; they must also lessen the drawbacks caused by distribution channel conflicts such as double downgrading. This study evaluated the effect of distribution channel strategies on the performance of commercial banks in Nigeria. The objective of the study specifically was to identify the distribution channel strategies adopted by commercial banks in Nigeria and to determine the effect of the distribution channel strategies adopted on the performance of the bank. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study was 43 management staff of five commercial banks operating in Nigeria. Questionnaire was used as the tool for data collection. The data was analyzed and presented using percentages, mean and standard deviation. The study found that the branch network, electronic banking and multiple distributions were used by the banks. Marketing strategies being employed by the banks were aggressive marketing, mass marketing and value marketing, the study further found that the adopted distribution channel strategies have a significant effect on the performance of the banks. It was recommended among other things that; commercial banks should adopt those marketing distribution strategies that ensure the performance of the bank is improved and do away with those which adds costs so that the banks can compete effectively with the others and that they should embrace the concept whole heartedly by adopting electronic banking as already the battle for the banks is technology usage which should be one which offers customers more features.

Abstract

The effectiveness and efficiency of public transport should be a priority for transportation in developing cities. Despite the efforts from the government to improve public transportation, in Jakarta City, Indonesia, there is still 9.93% increase of private vehicles annually per year. In detail, contributor for increasing vehicles in Jakarta is motorcycles with an average annual increase of 10.54% every year, followed by an increase in the percentage of passenger cars by 8.75%. In contrast, the number of public transportation increased only by 1.74%. This research did the evaluation for public transport service in Jakarta by availability and accessibility for them. Neighborhood analysis and Proximity analysis used in this research. The results of the research showed that major problems in public transportations in Jakarta City are the coverage area of the service, route connectivity, and its accessibility for public facilities. There are only 7.78% for coverage area by flexible bus stop service with average walking distance by 300 m. Thus, there are some areas that are not passed by public transport routes, for about 18.5 million people live in blank spot area.

Abstract

The Constitution of the people’s republic of the Bangladesh recognizes the right to protection of law and access to justice as fundamental rights. But the COVID-19 pandemic has, in effect, suspended the execution of these fundamental rights. The immediate impact of the pandemic has triggered courts across Bangladesh be shut to maintain social distancing. Third organ of the State cannot remain static during a crisis of this scale and duration. On this backdrop, the judiciary has started the operation of the virtual court system from May, 2020. Opening the doors to virtual courts, Bangladesh has joined a list of countries across the world where the justice system has similarly responded to the coronavirus-induced lockdown with increased digitalization. If the e-judiciary is introduced properly, reduction of the delay in the court process and elimination of the backlog of cases, which are the biggest challenge for the judiciary in our country, can be resolved rapidly. The virtual court would play a pioneering role in establishing e-judiciary. The Supreme Court of Bangladesh has taken an extraordinary test with the limited resources and digital infrastructures for carrying out virtual courts during this Covid-19 pandemic. The core objective of this study is to investigate the challenges of virtual court system in delivery of justice during COVID 19 pandemic situation and identify the way out to make the digital judiciary as permanent system for effective delivery of E-justice. The success of this noble initiative would largely depend upon ensuring technological support and legal requirements for e-courts and framing and implementing sound national policy and action plan for e-judiciary.

Abstract

The novel SARS-COV-2 pandemic known as coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic has had such an impact that it has changed the way human behaves. Its impact has been felt in all sphere of human life. This study examines the extent to which the covid-19 pandemic has affected the socio-economic life of the people in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted in collecting data from 400 respondents from Calabar using cluster, purposive and simple random sampling technique. A self-developed questionnaire was used as the instrument of data collection. Descriptive statistics was used to analyse the data collected from the field. The result from descriptive analysis was also subjected to parametric statistics. Out of the 400 hundred instruments distributed 379 was returned and used for analysis. Result revealed that 89.2 percent report reduced income. 83.6 percent reported suffering as a result of income loss. 25.9 percent suffered from mental health issues. 14.2 percent reported needing to see a doctor. From the parametric statistics carried out, result revealed a significant correlation between covid-19 pandemic and family income and mental health. The study concludes that the covid-19 pandemic has significant impact in the life of people in Calabar. Based on this finding, there is a need for government to implement changes in social security programmes as well as provide guidance and advice for health workers and general public etc

Abstract

This paper examines the causal relationship between financial inclusion, institutional quality and inclusive growth within a four-variate ARDL-EC framework and forecast error variance decomposition technique for the period of 2003-2018 using quarterly data in Nigeria. The paper incorporates two variables to capture institutional quality (government effectiveness and regulatory quality) in order to eliminate variable omission bias in which most existing studies are characterised. Those adopted techniques confirm the long-run and bi-causal relationships mainly between financial inclusion and inclusive growth in Nigeria. In addition, bi-directional causal relationships of the outcome of the study are also established between financial inclusion and government effectiveness, likewise between inclusive growth and regulatory quality mainly in the short-run. Abstract

The study's objective is to examine the relationship between Justice, Development and Peace/Caritas Advocates (JDPCA) activities and the Wellbeing of Ikot Ene people during COVID-19 Lockdown. Specifically, the study examines the relationship between JDPCA’s provision of palliatives, healthcare programmes, and the Wellbeing of Ikot Ene people during COVID-19 Lockdown. Two research questions and null hypotheses were raised for the study. Literature was reviewed according to the variables of the study. The survey research design was adopted in collecting data from 176 samples from a population of 725 beneficiaries of the JDPCA programme from Ikot Ene in Akpabuyo Local government Area of Cross River state. The instrument of data collection was the question. Data collected from the field was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result revealed a correlation between JDPCA’s provision of palliatives; healthcare programmes had a significant impact on the Wellbeing of the people of Ikot Ene. During COVID-19 Lockdown. Based on the study's findings, the study recommends a need for the Justice, Development and Peace/Caritas Advocates (JDPCA) to improve their coverage area and the number of beneficiaries for their future programmes.

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to examine the effect of social and traditional media on customer decision-making and to find out which of these two in times of pandemics affect more on customer decision-making. A survey was conducted using 250 respondents from Ampara District, Sri Lanka, aged between 20-30. The questionnaires were divided equally into three sets, the first part containing social media-related questions, the other part containing conventional media related questions, and the third aspect of customer decision-making. Results from a survey of 250 young people in Ampara, Sri Lanka show that in times of pandemic where both social and traditional media affect consumer decision-making but social media influence is much greater than the traditional media. The findings show that advertisers need to carefully pick the media to communicate with target customers in order to achieve their marketing communication goals.

Abstract

Industrial sector is the paramount factor in the development of economic growth. This study has analysed the industrial pantomime in case of Pakistan. Times series data has been used for 40 years, from 1980-2020. Initially the data has been checked for stationarity, by applying ADF, test which proved that, all the indicators are stationary at level. This confirms that, we are allowed to apply OLS regression analysis for the desired results. The study concluded that there has been positive and significant relationship between industrial construction and economy activity of Pakistan. Only factor that, induces negative impact on the economic growth, is the excessive consumption of energy resources; growth of electricity, gas and water supply. Foreign direct investment indicated negative association with the economy, but also gives the insignificant results.
