Abstract

E-learning is the use of information and computer technologies to create learning experiences. The objective of the research was to develop of VINOVAL. The research design was educational R&D as one research design aimed at developing educational products, like curriculum, syllabus, textbooks, instructional media, etc. Moreover, this research implemented quasi-experimental research design to know the efficacy of the product. The subject of the research was eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Trenggalek 2019/2020 academic year which consist of 36 experimental group and 36 control group. The research instruments were questionnaires, test, and interview. The questionnaires and test data were analyzed quantitatively, while interview data was analyzed qualitatively. The product was developed in five steps based on students’ needs, recent theories related to the product, developing the educational product, evaluation from the expert who validates the product and field testing the product. The data was calculated by SPSS 25 and the result of sig. 2 tailed in t-test is 0.000 (<0.05), it means there was significant difference between experimental and control groups. From explanation above means that the product of this research, VINOVAL, was an effective learning media to senior high school students to introduce modal auxiliary material. Furthermore, it was suggested for people who find some benefit of this research.

Abstract

The research design is educational Research and Development as one research design aimed at developing educational products, like curriculum, syllabus, textbooks, instructional media, etc. The sample of this research was seventh grade in Junior High School 3 Trenggalek 2019/2020 academic year that consists of 26 students from the G class and 24 students from the H class. The instruments used in this research are questionnaires and interviews. The data collected by questionnaires is analyzed quantitatively way, and data collected by interviews are analyzed qualitatively way. The result is Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the average student learning outcomes in the experimental and control groups. The result of field testing was 1738 that means the respondent agrees that the product of this research was very good and flexible to use as media in learning vocabulary. So, My Menaksopal as the product of this research is an effective learning media for junior high school students. This product help student in learning English because it related to the student’s daily activity.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to combining Audio Visual Web Blog and QR Code as a media in recount text.. The research design was educational research & development aimed at developing educational products. The second semester of eleventh grade XI MIPA 5 and XI MIPA 4 students in Senior High School 2 Trenggalek academic year 2019/2020. MIPA 5 as experimental group consist of 34 students and MIPA 4 as control group consist of 36 students. The instruments that was used in this research was questionnaire and test. The data collected by questionnaire and test analyzed quantitative. The product was developed in five steps based on students’ needs, recent theories related to the product, developing the educational product, evaluation from the expert who validates the product and field testing the product. Abstract

This research is to develop An English Research Journal Web Page for English Education Department of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek. The design of this research is R&D education combined with quantitative research methods. Researchers determine the fourth semester of English Education Department STKIP PGRI Trenggalek 2019/2020 academic year as subject. The instruments used in this research were observation, interview, questionnaire, and tests. The data analysis technique of media development uses qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques. This product was developed in five steps of development. The results of the needs analysis score were 2055. Thus, respondents agree that Introduction to Research subjects’ must have a learning media. Further, the results of field-testing score were 2530. It means that the respondents agreed that this research product was very good and was worthy of being used as media in learning Introduction to Research subjects’. Researchers used the paired t-test formula to calculate test results. After receiving the results, the researchers concluded there were an effect on student learning with media development.Furthermore, English Research Journal Web Page has been able to achieve the objective of the research.

Abstract

English used for every reason at university for example English collaborated with business that must be more important in daily uses as the English for specific things or purposes. All we know it as English for Specific Purposes or ESP. Such as in the development of teaching and learning English especially English in university or in ESP we need a media or book in their procedure and its implementation. And for its procedures every materials or book are needs to be appropriates in their materials with the education aspect such as the philosophical aspects on its. On addition philosophical aspect is the main aspect on it that can be a hence to elaborates the material for the student need especially for ESP student. This research objective is to explain the appropriateness of the philosophical aspects by the Hopkin theory in book entitled “Business Basic I” for ESP Student in terms of its contents. The design of this study is descriptive qualitative, and it is taken from documents and material resumed in its book. This research is categorized as qualitative research design because this study is aimed to identify the book toward the criteria of good book and its content. Based on the result and analysis of the research that have been done, the writer can conclude that a book with the title “Business Basic I” was categories in an appropriate and a good book related to the description of the material. And for the interpretation toward the philosophical foundation aspects that consist six aspects such as Clarity, Consistency with the fact, Consistency with Experience, Consistency with other Beliefs, Utility and Simplicity it can be shown that this book run and construct by social reconstruction philosophy and structuralism philosophy. It can be shown from the several philosophical foundation aspects from the data collection result.

Abstract

This research was aimed to explore the strategies and methods used by the students in translating Indonesian text into English. Descriptive qualitative was used as the research design. Further, the data were taken in two methods, that is, translation test and questionnaire. Since it was done during the pandemic of Covid-19 in which the students should learning from home, the translation test as well as the questionnaire were done online using the Google Classroom and the Google Form. The result showed that the students mostly used through translation and shift of translation as the strategies to translate Indonesia-English text. While for the method, the students mostly used the free translation so that they were not tied with the structure of target language. However, it is suggested for the translators to mind on the grammatical structure of both texts, cultural words, and writing mechanic. Further, the translators should also pay attention on the similarities and differences of the structure of source language and target language. As additional data, the questionnaire result showed that the students usually used translation machine like Google translate as their helping tools. Moreover, it is known from the result of the questionnaire, the students usually found difficulties in using appropriate strategies and methods of translation, finding the equivalences of words in target language, lack of knowledge on the field of translation as well as lack of time to practice their translation skill.

Abstract

On March 2020, director General of Wealth Health Organization establishes the corona virus outbreak as pandemic. This condition affects the world in all aspects, including in education. The schools close and students have to learn independently at home. This condition is not so problematic for developed countries but for developing countries as Indonesia, this condition brings enormous effect as most of teachers and students do not ready with this condition. They have to change the old system or face to face learning system or offline learning system into distance learning or online. Even there are so many applications that can be used to conduct online learning, they still do not familiar with them and cannot operate them. It makes teachers use familiar application to teach by project based learning.

Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate the effectiveness of peer feedback on students’ writing ability write English essays. A pre-experimental research was used as the research design and the students of the second semester of English Department who took the Academic Reading and Writing course was chosen as the sample of this study. A pretest was administered before the students started experiencing peer feedback as the research treatment while a posttest was conducted after the students got all the treatment of peer feedback. However, during the pandemic of Covid 19, all the research activities including pretest, treatment and posttest were done online. The pretest result showed that the students’ writing ability was quite low. The maximum score was 75, the minimum score was 35 while the mean score of the class was 54.83. After the students got a series of treatment of the peer feedback, the posttest result showed improvement. The maximum score was 88, the minimum score was 55 while the mean score was 72.38. It means that the posttest result was 17.55 points higher than the pretest result. Statistical analysis was also done to test the hypothesis testing. Based on the tests of assumption of homogeneity and normality testing, it showed that the data was homogeneous as well as normal so the parametric statistical analysis was used to analyze the data. The paired sample t-test was used in this test and it showed that the significant value obtained was lower than the level of significance of 0.05 (0.000<0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis was rejected. In the other words, it can be concluded that the students got better ability in writing English essays after experiencing the peer feedback. It means that the peer feedback has a significant effect on students’ ability to write English essays.

Abstract

This research gives an account of how to enhance the students' phonetic transcription and word stress mastery of pronunciation through drilling method. That was obviously proved that the fourth-semester students' mastery of pronunciation was unsatisfactory. They were often found mispronounce English words. Meanwhile, phonetic transcription and word stress are considered as the main pronunciation features as a basis for having a good pronunciation. Then, drilling method was used in this research since it is an essential part of classroom pronunciation work and is also possibly the time in the lesson when the students are more reliant on the teacher. Besides, drilling is also fundamental to help students remember new items. However, this study was a classroom action research, which consisted of two cycles and each of cycles consisted of four phases. The second cycle was done based on the reflection in the first cycle by revising some drawbacks. The participants of the research were the fourth-semester students of English language education study program of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek. The data collection methods of this research had been obtained from pronunciation test and observation. Then, the data of this research were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The research findings proved that the implementation of drilling method effectively enhanced the students‘ progressive achievement from the preliminary study to the first and the second cycle and to finally meet the success criteria toward learning outcome stated in the syllabus.

Abstract

Vocabulary is important; it is as the core of language complexities and as a starting point of those who are learning a new language. The purpose of this study was to identify the EFL learners’ needs for learning English vocabulary. The identification of learners’ needs was conducted to all active students of English Language education studying program of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek. It used the open-closed questionnaire. Research findings of analyzed data found a number of the students’ crucial target and learning needs for vocabulary learning which was ordered with its complexity, depth, prerequisite and relevancy such as; part of speech, morphemes, affixation, word families, collocations, synonym and antonym, homophone and homograph, word in comparison, punctuations, forming new words (blending, compounding, clipping, acronym), phrases, idioms and a special material of strategies of vocabulary learning. In addition, all mentioned materials were needed to be presented in a contextual, meaningful and useful way.
