Abstract

The design of this research is R & D as one of the research design which aimed at developing educational products. Also, this study used quasi-experimental research to collect the data. The fifth-grade student of MI AL Huda Rejowinangun consisted of 27 students of 5A; 13 of male and 14 female students, also 26 students of 5B; 15 male and 11 female students. The instruments used are questionnaire, interview and test. The data collected by questionnaire is analyzed quantitative way, meanwhile, the interview is analyzed qualitative way. The result of need analysis score was 2443 that means the student agree that board game with vocabulary material needs to be a learning media. The result of field-testing was 2381 that means student agree that the product of this research was good and feasible to use as media in learning vocabulary. The result of the test; the sig. (2-tailed) showed 0.000 < 0.05 in the Post-test result which the basic rules of making an Independent sample t-test, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected meanwhile Ha is accepted. Considering the findings of the research, it is concluded that Vocal board game is an effective learning media to use for elementary school students especially for vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

The aim of the experimental research is to know any effect or not after using the Digitalizing Vocabulary coursebook. This research was using two types of variables. The first variable was the application of Digitalizing Vocabulary coursebook. The second variable was students’ interest in vocabulary learning. The subject of the research is second-semester student of the English language education department in STKIP PGRI Trenggalek. The instrument is to collect the data of this research by pretest and posttest. After the data was collected the researcher analyzed the data by using an independent sample T-Test. Based on test the Sig. (2-tailed) of posttest are 0,000 < 0,05, then as the basic rules of making the independent sample t-test, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. The result of the test conducted by the researcher; Digitalizing coursebook is interactive than the printed book for students of the English language education department in STKIP PGRI Trenggalek.

Abstract

Media has an important role in conveying something, especially in learning activities. Further, learning media is anything that can be used to deliver learning material, so that it can stimulate students' attention, interests, thoughts, and feelings in learning activities to achieve learning goals. The objective of the research is the development of Prezi learning media. The design of this research is Research and Development (R&D). Latief in Basuki (2017:13) as one research design aimed at developing educational products, like curriculum, syllabus, textbooks, instructional media, etc. Also, this research using quasi-experimental to gather the data. The seventh grade 2019/2020 academic year consists of 32 students of 7. The instruments use in this research are questionnaires. The data collected by questionnaire is analyzed quantitatively way. The product is developed based on students’ needs, studying the theory of R&D, studying the theory of descriptive text, media learning, and Prezi. The product is developed in five steps development. The result of the need analysis score is the respondent agrees that Prezi media learning needs to be a learning media. Then, the result of field-testing is the respondent agrees that the product of this research was very good and feasible to use as media in learning descriptive text. The result of the questionnaire during collecting the data; the mean score of experimental groups before treatment (Pretest) is 67.5. Meanwhile, the mean score of the experimental group after treatment (Posttest) is 78.06. The explanation above means that the product of this research, developing Prezi media learning, is an effective learning media for junior high school students to introduce descriptive text material.

Abstract

This research discusses the effectiveness of what’s the number method in students’ reading ability. The objective of this research is to know “what’s the number” method in students reading ability. The statement of the research problem is Do students achieve better reading ability after being taught using what’s the number method? This research uses quantitative research. The researcher uses a pre-experimental design for research design. The data collecting method are pretest, treatment, and posttest. The subject of the research is students of the fourth semester of the English department at Bhinneka PGRI University. It is conducted in students’ fourth-semester class A with the sample is 15 students. This is using cluster sampling. The researcher gives students a pretest, after that they are given treatment then the researcher gives a posttest for the students. The result is students’ score have increased after the treatment. The mean of the posttest is higher than the pretest which is 7.27 > 4.33, and the significance is 0.000 < 0.05. It can be concluded that “What’s the number method” is significantly effective for students reading ability. Therefore, it can answer the statement of the research problem. In conclusion that “What’s the number method” is significantly effective for students reading ability at the fourth semester English department of Bhinneka PGRI University. So, what’s the number method was an effective method to improve students reading ability and this method can be applied in the classroom.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to develop Duel Chess Game as a media in passive voice. The research design was educational research & development aimed at developing educational products. The second semester of eleventh-grade students in SMK Ar-Ridlwan Trenggalek academic year 2019/2020 consists of 26 female and 15 male students. The instruments that were used in this research was questionnaire, test, and interview. The data collected by questionnaire and test analyzed quantitative, and the interview was analyzed qualitatively. Need analysis score is 1056 where students agree that passive voice learning needs media. Duel Chess Game is very good and suitable as passive learning media, based on test; sig. (2-tailed) showed 0.000,0.05. So, H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. In conclusion, Duel Chess Game is enough good and suitable as a media in learning passive voice.

Abstract

This research is aimed to find out the correlation between students’ interest and their achievement in writing at SMKN 2 Boyolangu Tulungagung. The problem needs to be discussed in this research is whether there is a correlation between students’ interest and their achievement in writing at SMKN 2 Boyolangu Tulungagung. This research was quantitative research that used the correlation method. It was conducted at SMKN 2 Boyolangu Tulungagung. The population was all of the students at SMKN 2 Boyolangu Tulungagung in the academic year of 2019/2020 which was 2.250 students. The researcher used purposive sampling to choose the sample. There were 34 students chosen from X Tata Kecantikan 4 as the sample of this research. The instruments of the research were questionnaire which was related to the students’ interest and documentation of their writing achievement which assessed by using Pearson Product Moment’s formula that was analyzed by using the SPSS 23 statistics program. The result of the research showed that there is a significant relationship between students’ interest and their writing achievement. It can be proved from value sig. (2 tailed) sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 is lower than 0.05. Moreover, the correlation coefficient value is 0.838 it means there is a very strong positive correlation. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that students’ interest contributes to their writing achievement

Abstract

In this study, the researcher tested the effectiveness of the English Podcast on fourth-semester students in the English Education Study Program Universitas Bhinneka PGRI academic year 2019/2020. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the use of English podcasts is effective in improving their listening abilities. This research is a quantitative study using a survey method conducted in the English Language Study Program Universitas Bhinneka PGRI academic year 2019/2020. The population in this study was the fourth-semester students of the English Education Study Program Universitas Bhinneka PGRI in the academic year 2019/2020. The research sample was all B class students, a total of 15 students were taken by purposive sampling technique. To collect data, the researcher used a questionnaire as a research instrument that was shared online through Google Classroom. The data obtained are then calculated and analyzed using a Likert Scale. And the results state that the highest score is 57 and the lowest score is 40. The result of hypothesis analysis calculated using IBM SPSS Statistics 24 using the Mann-Whitney formula shows that a significant value (2-tailed)> 0.05, which means H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected. It can be seen that 0.531> 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of English podcasts does not make a significant difference in students who listen to those who do not listen. But podcasts can still be used as a variety of media to improve the listening skills of fourth-semester students because they have a variety of benefits. Such as the material discussed by a Podcast not only presents general information but also from another perspective

Abstract

This research concerns about translation difficulties faced by English Education Department students of Bhinneka PGRI University. There will be some objectives of the study that can be formulated as follows: 1) To know what types of difficulties factor faced by students in translating English text. 2)To analyze which kind of difficulties factor is the most often faced by the students. The method which is used in this research is the descriptive qualitative approach. The instrument of this research is a questionnaire. The result of this study shows that the highest percentage of students' difficulties in translating is on linguistics factor. It is concluded that the highest point of translating is the difficulties to understand the meaning of words that not find in the dictionary. It was obtained 69.23% of the total percentage. It was also found that students sometimes difficult to translate a long and complex sentence, they are about 69% of the students. And there still 2 aspects which obtain 69,23% included in linguistics factor. In conclusion, linguistics factors become the most frequent obstacles that arise.
