Abstract

Some job vacancies in Indonesia include the requirement to have English language skills. This study aims to determine the perception of non-English students on the importance of English in the employment. This study used descriptive research method with quantitative and qualitative approaches and used perception theory to analyzed the data. Data collection techniques were carried out by survey and interview. The survey was filled by 100 students with various majors other than the English department. The research sample consisted of four students who were selected from filling out the survey. The results of the study show that 95% of 100 students think that English is important in the employment and 5% consider it unimportant. English is considered important because it is used for communication in work with foreigners or abroad. Someone who has English language skills can be a plus in his work. Meanwhile, English is considered unimportant in the employment because the variuos types of work so that not all require English language skills. These students’ perceptions are influenced by the environment, needs, experience, and insight.

Abstract

According to Article 7 paragraph (1) Law no. 16 years 2019, the marriageable age for marriage of men and women is 19 years. However, if someone is under 19 years of age have not been allowed to enter into a marriage and are considered illegitimate in the state. However, if there is an emergency due to pregnancy, fear of adultery, shame because not yet married, fearing things that are prohibited by religion, you can apply for a marriage dispensation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method. Aiming to find out the application of law No. 16 of 2019 from the perspective of Maqashid Syariah. The result of the research explains that the Panel of Judges considers and makes the fairest decision to decide whether it is worth giving a dispensation. Based on the first Maqashid Syariah, dharuriyah is used to avoid adultery and protect offspring born from pregnancy after marriage. Second, the hajiyyat considers suspicion of responsibility, for example a spouse already has a job and is physically and mentally ready. Third, parents' tahsiniyat guarantees that they are responsible for the child's economic, social, health and educational problems.

Abstract

Time management is the process of timing to achieve specific goals. Some students who are involved in the organization forget about their responsibilities as students that must be completed. Therefore, this study aims to find out the motivation of activist students who have delaying their graduation. This study involved final-level students of IAIN Surakarta, especially the class of 2015-2016 with a sample of two informants. The data was collected through interviews and observations, so that this study used qualitative descriptive analysis techniques.  Based on the results of data, the reason why final-year students delay their graduation is because they are too fond and are comfortable in the organization. By organizing they can develop interests and talents that they cannot get outside the organization. By organizing they get experience and various positive things that they find in the organization only, get busy, entertainment until finally they neglect the final assignment of college as students.

Abstract

The world is still hit by the Covid-19 pandemic which has changed all lines of life. Education has also been affected by Covid-19, namely the implementation of online learning policies. This research is intended to express students' interest in learning in participating in online lectures during the pandemic. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, the results show that interest in learning online is influenced by internal and external factors. Internal factors come from emotional, student enthusiasm in learning, and ability to understand the material. While external factors are influenced by supporting infrastructure, the way lecturers deliver material, and the circumstances around students when they are online. Based on the results of the interviews, the researchers found findings in the form of ways for each student to increase interest in learning when online. Interest in learning will have an influence on student learning outcomes. Therefore, it is important to know the factors that make students excited to learn even though they are online.

Abstract

Wrong majors often provoke stress because they are obliged to learn that is not following the readability of students. On the other hand, the campus demands that we get good grades to pass the courses taken. The purpose of this paper is to determine the effect of coping strategies on students in the wrong major, determine the impact of self-efficacy on students in the wrong major, and determine the result of coping strategies and self-efficacy on students in the wrong major. The research method used is qualitative with interview data collection techniques on active students of IAIN Surakarta in the fourth semester and taking majors that are not following their interests and talents. The results showed that students used problem-focused coping and emotional-focused coping in overcoming the existing stress. In addition, they also create confidence in their self-efficacy to be able to survive in the department. This paper emphasizes for students in the wrong major to carry out good coping strategies according to their problems and not feel inferior to their abilities.

Abstract

During online learning in pandemic era, college students experience a lot of pressure, from inside and outside. The pressure factor from the inside is the pressure that is caused from the college students itself, while the pressure factor from the outside is the pressure that is exerted from the environment and other people. This pressure causes students to experience stress during learning. This study aims to find out the stress faced by college students and coping strategies used. Researchers used Narrative Inquiry (NI) with thematic analysis techniques. Participants in this study were five college students of IAIN Surakarta. Data collection used semi-structured interviews consisting of two stages. The results shows that students experience stress both of pressure factors from inside and outside. Coping strategies used are two coping strategies that focused on problems and coping strategies that focused on emotions. This research can contribute to education, especially college students who experience stress can choose coping strategies that appropriate with themselves and for lecturers can evaluate learning strategies that understand the condition of college students in order to achieve the desired learning objective.

Abstract

Technological advances make it easier for humans to carry out daily activities, especially in terms of doing business. Online business is the implementation of technological advances. So this research will explore conventional business strategies with online businesses. This study aims to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the two businesses. It also aims to find out the business strategy in maintaining its business. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data collection methods are interviews and observation. The data validity technique uses the Triangulation technique. The findings of this study prove that social media is used as a promotional medium for both conventional and online businesses. This study also proves that in order to maintain a conventional business in the midst of the rise of online business, shopping vouchers are given with applicable regulations.
