Abstract

Understanding of industrial situation in an area, is essential to develop theindustry further, and production factors situation can be represent it. Usingendogenous perceptional method, the production factors of wooden made boat ofshipyard surveyed. The location, worker, capital, and entrepreneurship situation andcondition observed, were tend to be bad, due to the technical and managerialproblems. Especially concerning with entrepreneurship, high price and difficult to getproper wood materials, no well trained technician in ship design, in machineryrecruitment, and lack of training program to improve the situation or to solve theproblems. As consequence some of the shipyard enterprise either close, stop toproduce ship, or moving to other location. A deindustria-lization trend emerged asmany workers unemployed and the area become depressed.

Abstract

A laboratory scaled study aims to understand the ability of several fish speciesin reducing the amount of organic materials accumulated around floating cage fishculture has been conducted in the Fishery and Marine Science Faculty, RiauUniversity, Pekanbaru from August to December 2008. Fingerlings (15-20 cm SL) ofNile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) were caged (6 fishes/ cage) and each cage was keptin the 25 liter aquarium. Outside the cages, other fishes namely common carp(Cyprinus carpio), Nile tilapia (O. niloticus ) and Catfish (Clarias batracus) werereared, 3 fishes/ aquarium. As controls, Nile tilapia were kept in the cages and therewas no fish out side the floating cage. Fishes were feed on fish pellet, 40% of cagedfish body weight, once/ day. Feed remains that are flown to the outside of the cage.Sediment accumulated was removed once/week for a 3 weeks period, then they werefiltered and dried in the 40o oven and was weighed. The fishes, however, were weightin the 1st day and by the end of the experiment and the feed conversion rate wascalculated. Results indicated that the sediment in the nile-carp aquarium is 1,67 gram; thenile-nile is 1.79 gram, the nile-catfish is 1.54 gram and the control is 2.28 gram. While the FCR of the nile-carp is 1.47; nile-nile is 1.04; nile-catfish is 1.05 andcontrol is 3.16. So, it can be concluded that the presence of fishes outside the cagereduce the amount of sediment accumulated around the cage and increase theefficiency of feed given to the fish.

Abstract

This research was carried out on March to April 2010 at Dumai FishingPort, with the purposes to know the relationship between departure of fishingvessel 3 GT frequencies with logistic amount on West and East season. Thisresearch activity used survey method. There are high correlation between Westand East fishing operation season. Departure fishing vessel frequency was higheron West season than East season. This was illustrated at linear regression y =142,0x + 51,37 (fuel), y = 318,5x + 11,48 (ice), y = 135,6x + 139,0 (fresh water)on West season and y = 159,3x + 23,53 (fuel), y = 403,8x + 45,82 (ice), y =140,9x + 92,21 (fresh water) on East season.

Abstract

Effort for obtaining effective engine power of fishing vessel and improve thework condition comfortableness on the vessel believed to increase productivity andefficiency of fishing vessel. Assembling of engine accessories effected output ofengine power optimally. Therefore, based on mechanism system analysis of fishingvessel was conducted a study on assembling of engine accessories, such as exhaustpipe, electricity system, rudder and its size calculation method.

Abstract

This research was conducted on December 2008 to January 2009 atMalacca strait waters. Purpose of this research to determine potential coastal zonefor stow net fishing ground. This research was used survey method, which toobserve and measure fishing ground parameters, such as current speed, depth andwater transparency. All of the data was analyzed descriptively, which discussedsystematically on the study location. At every parameter data was analyzed byGIS technology spatially with overlay index model method. Based on the dataanalyzed can determine the potential fishing ground as very potential, potentialand impotential.

Abstract

A survey and experiment have conducted on fishing boat materials of justconstructed, 10 years and 15 years old. Materials were sampled and its strength wastested in order to understand the fatigue and its cause. The fatigue of materials is inregression linear but depending on the kind of wood, its processing, and the placeused in the boat construction. Those of materials use to be submerged in the waterwill be fatigue faster compare to those used in the dry place. The fatigue caused bymarine organism such sea worm holed into or some mollusks and microbe mashesattach to the surface of wood. Proper processing and well maintenance duringoperation of the boat will makes it be last longer.

Abstract

A study on gut content analysis of fish species that are captured around thefloating caged fish culture area in the Koto Panjang Dam, Kampar, Riau Provincehas been conducted on June to September 2007. Aims of this research are tounderstand the type of fishes present around the cages, their food types and alsotheir role in reducing the amount of organic materials originated from fish cultureactivities. Fish samples were caught by scoop nets and fishing lines and gutcontent was analysis using a volumetric method. Results shown that 9 fishesspecies namely goramy (Osphronemus gouramy ), tambakan (Helostomatemincki) , kapiek (Puntius schwanefeldi), paweh (Osteochilus hasselti), commoncarp (Cyprinus carpio ), sipaku (Cyclocheleichthys apogon), nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus), ingir-ingir (Macrones nigriceps) and baung (Macronesnemurus) are able to eat pellets and fish remains that may present around thecages. Other species, such as belida (Notopterus notopterus), toman(Ophiocephalus micropeltes), gabus (Ophiocephalus striatus) and tapah (Wallagoleeri), prey on fish and shrimp only. The stomach of another fish species captured, namely katung fish (Pristolepis grotii), however, full of algae. Based on the dataof stomach content, it can be concluded that fish that have ability in eating pelletremains present around the cages may have important role in reducing the amountof organic materials originated from floating cages aquaculture.
