Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the effect of iron (Fe3+) concentration on chlorophyll a and b content, carotenoid content and antioxidant capacity of Chlorella sp. The source of Fe3+ obtained from FeSO4.7H2O.  The varying concentration of Fe3+ in Basal media was 0.35, 4.89, 9.44, and 13.99 mg/L. The harvesting of Chlorella sp. was conducted in 3 times: 7th day, 14th day, and 21st day of cultivation periode. The Chlorella sp. was harvested by centrifugation 4800 rpm for 10 minutes. Chlorophyll a b, and carotenoid content were determined by using spectrophotometer with absorbance (Abs) 480, 630, 645, 665 nm and antioxidant capacity was analysed using % DPPH scavenging capacity. Based on the research results shown that the highest amount of Chlorophyll a content (101.43 mg/L) and chlorophyll b content (49.25 mg/L) were resulted in the highest of Fe3+ concentration (13.99 mg/L) for 21 days of cultivation period, the highest carotenoid content (37.41 mg/L) was in 4.89 mg/L of Fe3+ concentration for 21 days of cultivation period, and the highest of % antioxidant capacity (32.74%) was in the lowest of Fe3+ concentration (0.35 mg/L) for 14 days of cultivation period.

Abstract

This researct was conducted on September 2015 to April 2016. Fish reproduction is controlled by endocrine system that is affected by external factors such as photoperiod. Changing in photoperiod may affect the gonad development in fish. To understand the effect of different photoperiod in gonad development of O. hypopthalmus, the fishes were reared in fiber tanks (140 x 60 x 40 cm) with water circulation system and completed with aerator. The treatments applied were : natural photoperiod, 24D (continuous dark), 16D8L (16 hours dark and 8 hours light), 12D12L (12 hours dark and 12 hours light), 8D16L (8 hours dark and 16 hours light) and 24L (25 continuous light), and the fish were feed on shrimp and cricket enriched commercial pellet. The fishes were sampled once/month, 4 fishes/sample. Parameters investigated were body length, body weight, gonad development, hepatosomatic index (HSI), viscerosomatic index (VSI) and gonadosomatic index (GSI). Based on the research  results different photoperiod did not affect the gonad development of O. hypopthalmus. There was no special pattern in gonad development in all treatments. The gonads were first developed in 13 – 37 weeks old male and female fishes. The female gonad, however, developed earlier than that of the male. The smallest female with developed gonad was 10.65 cm TL and 5.55 g BW. While that of the male was 16.7 cm TL and 16.7 g BW. During the research there was no mature fish.  The HSI and VSI shown similar patterns, it was increased by the second month (17 weeks old fish) and then decreased. This decrement indicates that the energy stored has been used for gonad development. Based on data obtained it can be concluded that the photoperiod does not affect the gonad development of ompok hyopthalmus.

Abstract

This research was conducted on  Juny to 16 October 2016 case in village Teluk Bakau of Bintan Singingi Regency in Riau Island Province. Its was aimed to know the type of seagrass, the shape of the community activities that threaten ecosystems seagrass, analyzing the economic value of fisheries and seagrass ecosystem services. The method used by survey methods, Sampling was done in Teluk Bakau Village by purposive sampling. Observation of seagrass type and community activities was done by observation and interviews. Calculation of economic fishery was using questionnaire and interview approach. Based on the research results showed the type of seagrass in Teluk Bakau Villageare Enhalus acoroides, Syringodium isoetifolium, Thalasodendron ciliatum and Cymodocea rotundata. Community activities are the development of the coastal area, residential communities, fisheries and marine tourism. The economic value of fisheries is Rp 835.665.600 rupiah/year. Seagrass ecosystem services in Teluk Bakau Village are the area for capture fishes, aquaculture, and marine tourism.

Abstract

The problem of Hemibagrus nemurus culture is availability of fish fingerlings, because H. nemurus have cannibal character on fingerlings phase.  From several research shown result that photoperiod can decrease cannibal character in some catfish.  Based on that information this research has been done.  Aimed of this research was to known effect of photoperiod to H. Nemurus fingerlings om growth and survival rate.  This research used 3 treatment and 3 repetition, the treatment was cultivation of H nemurus fingerling on 24 hours on day (treatment 1), 12 on dark and 12 on day (treatment 2) and on 24 hours on dark (treatment 3).  Result of this research was fingerlings of H. nemurus were rared on 24 hours dark gived significant growth and survival rate.  Form survival rate can showed that cannibal character at h. nemurus fingerlings where rared on 24 darks has been decrease.

Abstract

This research was conducted  on 1 November to 27 December 2015 in the Fish Nutrition Laboratory, Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty, Riau University. This research aimed to determine the effect of probiotic supplementation in artificial diets on feed digestibility, feed efficiency, protein retention and growth of Osphronemus gouramy. Complete Randomized Design (CRD), was used with five treatments and three replications. The treatments were probiotic supplementation in diets with different concentration i.e : P0 (without  probiotic supplementation in diets), P1 (probiotic supplementation of 5 mL/kg diets), P2 (probiotic supplementation of 10 mL/kg diets), P3 (probiotic supplementation of 15 mL/kg diets) dan P4 (probiotic supplementation of 20 mL/kg diets). Probiotic given through artificial diets with 30% of crude protein content. The results showed P3  (probiotic supplementation of 15 mL/kg diets) were the best treatment with feed digestibility of  73 %, feed efficiency of 27,45%, protein retention of 24,70%, and specific growth rate of 2,44% for Osphronemus gouramy.

Abstract

This research was conducted on 27 February - 23 March 2016 for the city of Pekanbaru in Riau Province. The research objective to describe groups of farmers of freshwater fish, to compare the dynamics between groups of farmers ornamental fish are nurtured and is not fostered Department of Agriculture and analyze the elements of group dynamics farmers freshwater fish are nurtured and is not supervised by the Department of Agriculture. Determination of the respondents were proportional sampling with the taking of respondents as many as 18 people from the group of respondents ornamental fish farmers who belong to a group that fostered and nurtured a group that is not the Department of Agriculture. Analysis of the dynamics of the group performed that the group fostered by the Department of Agriculture has a score of 122.2 which is the level of dynamics in the dynamic category, while the ornamental fish farmers do not fostered scores 89.2 dynamics that are in the category of dynamic enough. this is because the group is fostered by the department of agriculture has a role in fostering a more ornamental fish farmers groups, and all elements of the group have a desire to grow their businesses as seen from the effectiveness of the groups that affect the dynamics of the group as the elements of goal attainment and satisfaction of group members.
