Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of emotional intelligence on the mathematics learning outcomes of MTs students. NW Pagutan. This type of research is ex-post facto with a quantitative approach. The subjects of this study were seventh grade students at MTs. NW Pagutan. The data collection method used in this research is in the form of questionnaires and documentation. The results obtained in this study are the magnitude of F count is 29,020. Meanwhile, the value of is at a significance level of 5% with N=19, which is 4.45. Then with a significance/probability level of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning that it is significant, so H_a is accepted and H_o is rejected. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that there is an influence of emotional intelligence on the mathematics learning outcomes of seventh grade students of MTs NW Pagutan. The suggestions put forward in this study are that teachers are expected to be more familiar with the emotional conditions of students, so that teachers can choose appropriate learning methods or models so that they can help students achieve maximum learning outcomes.

Abstract

The implementation of mathematics learning in the COVID-19 period must be tested for quality, one of which is by knowing the quality of evaluation tests used during online learning in schools.The purpose of this study is to find out the quality of MTs math learning ecvaluation tests during the COVID-19 Pandemic through analysis of the quality of evaluation tests used. A good test should meet standards in validity, reliability, differentiating power, appropriate level of difficulty. The research method used is a quantitative descriptive research method conducted at MTs NW Nadhatul Abror NW Nyangget Mataram through three stages of activities, namely preparation, implementation and completion. Quantitative data obtained is a score of mathematical problem-solving skills. Data analysis techniques are used quantitatively to determine the level of quality of instruments empirically while qualitative to determine the category of validity, reliability, different power and difficulty level of test instruments. The results showed that there were 13 questions of good quality, 10 revised and 17 rejected with an average difficulty level of question items = 0.685 and had been able to distinguish students in high and low grades. The 13 issues are included in the problem with high validity and good reliability.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem based learning model on students' critical thinking skills at MTs Ittihadul Bayan. The research method used is an experiment with a quasi-experimental design, namely a nonequivalent control group design. Sampling was taken by purposive sampling with a sample of 20 students for the control class and 24 students for the experimental class. The data collection technique used a test technique with a test instrument in the form of a description. The hypothesis in this study is that there is an effect of the Problem based Learning model on students' critical thinking skills in MTs. Ittihadul Bayan. The data analysis used is the t test, from the two groups the t count value is 2.897 with a df of 42 and a significance level of 5% so that the t table value is 1.681 so 2.897 > 1.681. With the results of the data analysis, the hypothesis proposed in this study is Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected, this shows that there is an effect of the Problem based Learning model on students' critical thinking skills in MTs Ittihadul Bayan.

Abstract

Argumentation is a person's way to face every question, issue and argue in the face of every problem. Argumentation is very necessary to know the understanding of students' concepts and so that students can explain logically the appropriate stages of completion to solve problems. This study aims to describe the pattern of argumentation used by students in solving permutations and combinations problems. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were 3 students of class XI IPA at MA Darul Aitam Jerowaru which consisted of 1 student with high math ability, 1 student with moderate math ability, and 1 student with low math ability. Sampling was done by using purposive sampling type quota sampling. Data collection techniques used written tests and interviews, then analyzed based on indicators of student argumentation patterns in solving permutations and combinations. Based on this, the argumentation pattern used in this study is a combination of Tulmin's argumentation pattern and Mc. Neill & Karajicik's argumentation pattern, namely, data, claim, evidence, reasoning and rebuttal. The results of this study are students with high mathematical abilities have a pattern of argumentation, namely, data, claims, evidence, which are given correctly. Students with moderate ability have argumentation patterns, namely, data, claim, reasoning, and rebuttal, which are given correctly and students with low mathematical abilities have argumentation patterns, namely, data, claim, and rebuttal, which are given correctly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe students' metacognition in solving mathematical problems in terms of learning styles. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were students. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires, tests and interviews. The analysis technique used consists of three components, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in students' metacognition processes, namely: a) The metacognitive process of visual students is moderate. It can be seen when students plan, use information from problems to answer questions well. When monitoring, students check the information obtained when solving a given problem. When evaluating, students are incomplete in writing the final results at the conclusion. b) The process of auditory students' metacognition is lacking. It can be seen when students plan, do not draw and write down the information provided. When monitoring, students check the information obtained when solving a given problem. When evaluating, students re-check the completion that has been done but the final result is incomplete. c) High kinesthetic students' metacognition process. It can be seen when students plan, explain and write down what is in the problem, describe and write down what is known and asked about the problem. When monitoring, students choose the concept of completion correctly, apply the information obtained to concepts that have been thought out and are thorough in answering questions and believe that the answer process is correct. When evaluating, accuracy in writing the final results that have been done rightly and correctly.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of problem posing approach in term of mathematical thinking skill of senior high school students. This study was a quasi-experimental study using the nonequivalent pretest and posttest group design. The population was year X students of State Senior High School 1 of Sakra Lombok Timur that consisted of six classes. The sample was two classes selected randomly from all Year X classes; class X-5 received a treatment of problem posing approach and class X-6 received as a control class. The instrument used is a test to measure mathematical thinking skill. To find out the effectiveness of problem posing approaches in the mathematical thinking skill, the data were analyzed using One Sample Test. The result of the study states that problem posing approach is effective in terms of the mathematical thinking skill of Senior High School Students.
