Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the teacher's teaching style on students' mathematics learning outcomes in the case study flat-sided geometric material at Pringgasela 1 Public Middle School. This research is a quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental quantitative research with a non-equivalent posttest-only control group design. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMPN 1 Pringgasela. In taking the sample, the researcher used a purposive sampling technique because the researcher took a sample of 2 classes whose population actually consisted of 7 classes with the consideration that the selected samples had the same abilities. The data in this study were taken using questionnaires and tests, questionnaires to see differences in teacher teaching styles, and tests to see the effect of teacher teaching styles on student mathematics learning outcomes. Based on the results of the questionnaire data, the average experimental class was 64.91 and the control class was 61.08. The results of the test data obtained an average of 71 experimental classes and 63,594 control classes. To find out that there is influence of the teacher's teaching style on students' mathematics learning outcomes, the researcher analyzed the data using the -test. Based on the results of data analysis in the questionnaire obtained tcount = 2.06 and ttable = 1.999 and for student learning outcomes data obtained tcount = 2.05 and ttable = 1.999. Obtained tcount > ttable at a significance level of 5%, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the teacher's teaching style on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMPN 1 Pringgasela

Abstract

Abstract This development research aims to determine the results of the development of Adobe Flash as a medium for learning the Pythagorean theorem for class VIII SMP. The product resulting from this research is in the form of learning media on Pythagorean theorem material with several sub-discussions, namely using the Pythagorean theorem to calculate the length of one side of a triangle if the other two sides are known, calculating the ratio of sides in a right triangle with angles of 300 and 600, and calculating the ratio of the sides of a right triangle with an angle of 450. The development model used in this study refers to the model developed by Sivasailam Thiagarajan, Dorothy S. Semmel, and Melvyn I. Semmel in 1974, namely the 4D model. This model consists of four stages of development namely define, design, develop, and disseminate or abbreviated as 4D. The results of this development research were obtained as follows: First, the validation stage by 3 expert validators covering aspects of programming, content (material), and display obtained an average expert validation result of 4.19 indicating that learning media (products) are in the "valid" category. ”. Second, the trial phase is limited to students' responses to learning media and an average result of 89.167% is obtained which indicates that the learning media (product) is in the "very good" category. Third, the field test stage on average students gave a response of 87% indicating that the learning media (product) was in the "very good" category. The average pre-test result was 76.25 while the post-test average result was 86.27. There is a significant difference between the average results of the pre-test and post-test data. This result is reinforced by the results of the calculation of the related sample t-test with SPSS 16 software, the value of Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05 = ????. Based on the results obtained from the stages that have been taken, it shows that the use of product development is "effective" in learning mathematics on the Pythagorean theorem material for class VIII students at SMPN 2 Labuapi

Abstract

Abstract This research was conducted to determine the level of feasibility of the 2013 Curriculum Junior High School mathematics learning video on flat-sided space on the YouTube platform. The limitation in this study is the study of the feasibility of learning videos from the content aspect, presentation aspect, language aspect, and graphic aspect. The subjects in this study were videos of junior high school mathematics learning curriculum 2013 material on the flat side of 8 youtube channels which were selected using a sampling technique, namely the purposive sampling technique. This purposive sampling technique is used to select videos based on the time they were uploaded. The videos were then validated by 3 math teachers. The instruments used in this study were the feasibility study sheet for the learning video and the reasoning sheet for the video feasibility assessment by the respondents. The data analysis used is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study are the overall level of video feasibility, namely learning videos from 3 youtube channels are categorized as "Very Eligible" and learning videos from 5 youtube channels are categorized as "Eligible" as learning media although there are still poor assessments on several assessment indicators. This shows that the 2013 Kurikukum Junior High School mathematics learning video for flat-sided space construction circulating on the YouTube platform still needs improvement in the future.

Abstract

Abstract Students’ errors in solving mathematics problems, especially  in word problems, are influenced by various factors. One aspect to consider is gender differences. This study aims to describe the types of student errors in solving mathematics word problems on the topic of fractions based on gender. This study is qualitative research with a case study type. This research involved 2 male and 2 female students of class VII MTs. NW Bagik Polak, West Lombok. The instruments used were non-routine tests, rubrics for assessing errors and interview guidelines. The data obtained were analyzed using Newman Error Analysis (NEA). This study found that male and female students made almost the same types of errors. However, female students still found reading errors, while male students did not. These findings can be used as a reference for teachers in designing learning and providing assistance to students who have difficulty solving math problems.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to describe the ability to solve mathematical problems in terms of the self-confidence of class VIII students at MTs Assalam Mataram. This type of descriptive qualitative research chose 3 research subjects from 22 class VIII students who had high self-confidence, moderate self-confidence, and low self-confidence categories. Data were collected using a self-confidence questionnaire instrument, tests of mathematical problem-solving abilities in circle material, and interviews. Data analysis techniques are carried out by collecting data, presenting data, condensing data, drawing conclusions, and verifying. And checking the validity of the data using credibility, technical triangulation, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The results of the study were that the high self-confidence category of students was 2.30%, for the test of mathematical problem-solving abilities with high criteria it showed that in general, they were able to fulfill all problem-solving indicators, the medium self-confidence category was 59.6%, for the problem-solving ability test the mathematical criteria were moderate, indicating that they were only able to meet three indicators of problem-solving ability, and the low self-confidence category was 38.1%, for the mathematical problem-solving ability test, the problem-solving ability only met one indicator.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyze and describe students' mathematical communication skills based on gender and cognitive style. Researchers involved 97 students at one of the tertiary institutions in the city of Mataram. The instruments used consisted of a test of mathematical communication skills in the form of an essay consisting of 4 questions and a Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT) to identify students' cognitive styles. Data analysis used two-way ANOVA. The results showed that the mathematical communication skills of female students outperformed the abilities of male students. Regular and thorough characteristics as well as better verbal skills support female students in conveying back mathematical concepts in solving problems. Differences in cognitive styles provide different mathematical communication abilities to students. Students who have a field independent cognitive style have better mathematical communication skills compared to students who have a field dependent cognitive style. Different characteristics in managing information and identifying it are aspects of cognitive style. The results of this study are expected to be one of the references in considering the internal factors that influence mathematical abilities, especially mathematical communication skills.
