Tanwir Arabiyyah: Arabic As Foreign Language Journal is a journal that publishes research articles related to Arabic and Learning Arabic as a foreign language. Abstract

The relationship between language and culture is a close relationship that cannot be separated from each other. Knowledge of the culture of the Arabic language helps in learning it and mastering its skills and understanding its intellectual and cultural concepts, and learning a culture of cultures, can not only be studied a number of lessons about the customs and traditions of the owners of that language, but the student needs to diversify the sources of knowledge of the culture of native speakers, and this study aims to highlight the cultural dimension in the teaching of Arabic language at the University of Brunei Darussalam, and how to introduce students to Arab culture As a second language culture with respect for the culture of the learner, this study has been summarized by description and analysis of the historical sequence of the experience of the University of Brunei Darussalaam in caring about the cultural dimension in the teaching of Arabic language, the University has a special experience in dealing with Arab culture when teaching Arabic language at the University, and this experience boils down to four main themes, the first of which is: in 2003 the course was prepared in a way that combines arab and local cultures, secondly: In 2010, weekly activities for university students run by the Arab Culture Club began. Annual activities run by the Language Center through cultural language festivals, which began in 2004 in partnership with other languages in the Language Center, and then developed in 2014 where the first Arabic festival, and fourth: in 2015, additional reading aids based on local culture were launched through the translation of the Language Center for Barun folk stories into the languages present at the center, thus characterized by the experience of the University of Brunei Dar es Salaam with its interest in the cultural dimension of language education within and outside the classroom, This study recommends that cultural aspects be taken into account when developing or selecting courses and books implemented; establishing student clubs to introduce Arabic language culture; and organizing cultural festivals to support them.

Abstract

"Kitab Kuning," as a typical pesantren curriculum, is faced with severe problems due to weak management aspects. This study revealed the "Kitab Kuning" learning plan, implementation, and evaluation. This study was carried out with a qualitative approach and data collection techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Based on the results, the pesantren did not carry out comprehensive planning; it manifests in teachers teaching the material arbitrarily where learning is carried out every day other than holidays and testing students to read the "Kitab Kuning."

Abstract

Reading skill is not enough with the student's intelligence. Rather, he is concerned with the presence of external and internal factors that encourage reading. Reading is the main source for learning the Arabic language and requires special and varied training. The teacher should pay attention to the steps of teaching reading skill according to the intended purposes. The results of the research are: a). Reading skill is a complex process that includes four operations; It is recognition, understanding, criticism and interaction. Despite the clarity of the difference between these four processes, the exact definition of the language skills that pertain to each process is still a mystery to some teachers of Arabic as a second language; b). In reading, a process is intended to link the language of speech and written symbols. It is from this nature that the elements of reading are known, which are the mental meaning, the pronunciation to be performed, and the written symbol; c). The opinion of Rushdi Ahmed Tuaima in teaching reading skills The reading skill is taught when the stages of education are progressing so that teachers of reading skill in the Arabic language must be masters, absorbing the theoretical and practical aspects of reading education stages according to Rushdi Ahmed Tuaima, in succession and succession from the first stages to the last.

Abstract

Arabic learning curriculum in the pesantren becomes a dilemma because learning resources are mainly used in Arabic, so the presence of an Arabic learning curriculum seems to undermine the ability of students to use Arabic. This study aimed to describe the responses of students on the Arabic learning curriculum with its various aspects. This study was conducted with a quantitative approach and the data collected were on a Likert scale on 68 people. Based on the results, according to the students, the Arabic learning curriculum in the pesantren students is not so important considering that various learning resources have used Arabic. The role of the Arabic learning curriculum in the pesantren, especially in the conservative aspect, has been accommodated in the pesantren curriculum, while from the creative aspect, students are of the view that the Arabic learning curriculum has a role to develop creativity, especially from the communication aspect. On the other hand, the perception of students towards the Arabic learning curriculum in the pesantren contains critical values for cultural development in accordance with the Indonesian character.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the student's Arabic vocabulary mastery in the class that did not use simulation methods and classes that used simulation methods, and to what degree the effectiveness of the methods used to increase student's Arabic vocabulary mastery of the XI class in Pondok Pesantren Modern Ta 'dib al-Syakirin, Medan Johor. The research method used is an ex post facto quantitative study method. The results of this study indicate that for mastery of the student's Arabic vocabulary when not using the practice of simulation are obtained with an average of 64.72, where 4 students are "excellent", 2 people who are "good",7 people who are predicated "enough", and 5 people who are predicated "less". While the student's Arabic vocabulary mastery when using simulation methods is obtained with an average value of 83.61, which are 5 students on a "satisfactory" predicate, 10 on "excellent", 2 on a "good" predicate, and 1 person on a "less" predicate. As well as analysis of data, it has been found that the use of simulated methods is effective to increase student's Arabic vocabulary mastery with a level of effectiveness given by 0.54 based on n - gain tests by "moderate" since n-gain values are in the range of 0.30. < g < 0.70.

Abstract

Strong motivation is a factor influencing results, as well as in learning, strong motivation from students will bring maximum results. Students at Tbong Khmum Cambodia Muhammadiyah Education Center still have low motivation in learning Arabic and Islamic sciences. Therefore, this study aims to reveal the steps taken by teachers in improving the motivation to learn Arabic and Islam. The study was carried out with a qualitative approach. To increase Arabic and Islamic learning motivation at the Muhammadiyah Education Center, first, provide an understanding of the importance of Arabic and Islam, second, create and choose learning methods and media, third, complete learning facilities and infrastructure, fourth, provide an assessment. From these four steps, this study recommended that Arabic and Islamic teachers should further maximize efforts to increase the motivation of students so that learning outcomes are expected to be achieved optimally.

Abstract

In the preparation of textbooks, it is necessary to pay attention to the content of the material so that it is in accordance with socio-cultural elements without causing multiple interpretations and an imbalance. The issue of gender is one of the social elements that can be influenced by the educational environment. This includes the learning process and Arabic language textbooks. While Arabic is one of the foreign languages whose language system is very gender biased. So in the preparation of Arabic textbooks, you must be more careful in order to minimize the existence of gender bias in textbooks. This also applies to the Arabic language textbook Lisanul Jami’ah I. This research is entitled Analysis of the Lisānul Jāmiʻah I Textbook Gender Perspective with the formulation of the problem how to analyze the gender perspective in the Lisānul Jāmiʻah I Arabic textbook and how the content of gender bias in the Lisānul Jāmiʻah I Arabic textbook I. The purpose of this research is to find out the analysis of the Arabic language textbook Lisānul Jāmiʻah I from a gender perspective to determine the content of gender bias. The purpose of this research is to provide contributions, references, considerations and insights related to gender in textbooks. This type of research is library research with data sources taken from primary and secondary data sources. Sources of data collected by documentary and interview techniques. While the data analysis using content analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that most of the contents of the Lisānul Jāmiʻah I textbooks have shown to be gender sensitive. However, the content of gender bias is also quite a lot, although not as much as the content of gender sensitive. In this textbook, gender-neutral content of the textbook is also found.

Abstract

It is no wonder that learning outcome is very important to measure the success of the education activities that are implemented. But how if education that is usually implemented with offline education, is replaced by online education because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on that, The objectives of this research are to find out the difference between the result of online education and offline learning in teaching Arabic among students at the Islamic Intermediate School “Darus Sholah”. The methodology of this research is the quantitative approach, and the method of collecting observation and documentation consists of data analysis by descriptive quantitative analysis with induction statistics by type, non-parametric statistics. The results of the research there is no comparison between the result of online education and offline education in teaching Arabic among students at the Islamic Intermediate School “Darus Sholah”. In conclusion, the result of the analysis hypothesis shows that 0.09 has more value than 0.05 (0.05 < 0.09) µ1 = µ2 H0, H0 is accepted and H1 data is rejected. This means that the data showed is accepted.

Abstract

The main goal of foreign language learning is to make students skilled in using the language both orally and in writing, as well as learning Arabic. However, there are many factors that cause students difficulties in the learning process. One of the contributing factors is the existence of various student characters in the classroom which makes teachers have to be smart in choosing learning methods. One of the appropriate strategies as an effort to overcome these problems is to use the "Clustering Learning Method". This research uses a qualitative approach, with a case study method; data is collected through observation and documentation. Data analysis in this study uses the theory of "Miles and Huberman". The results showed that the application of the clustering method could improve speaking skills in learning Arabic for class XI students of SMAN 10 Malang City. The improvement in question, namely the improvement of the process and student learning outcomes. This increase was seen in the learning process of the first and second meetings. Based on the results of the study, the researcher suggested to teachers that learning Arabic to improve speaking skills through the clustering method could be used as an alternative for teachers to teach other materials.

Abstract

As a judicial institution based on Islamic law, the religious court is a special court which is only authorized in certain areas of civil, not including the criminal field (except Aceh province) for Moslems. Therefore, Islamic law and Arabic language should become a daily routine for judges. This study was designed to gain an in-depth understanding of Arabic urgency for religious court judges in Indonesia and how those language skill affect the  duties and responsibilities of religious court judges. Arabic plays an important role in the religious court because Arabic is the language of the Holy Quran and other Islamic laws. The judges considered Arabic very high esteem with most of their duties and responsibilities were inseparable from Arabic. Governments have been offering scholarships and other opportunities for judges who are interested in Arabic studies and Islamic studies in the Middle East.
