Abstract

Abstract Mathematics is a science with a broad concept. The breadth of concepts in mathematics, does not rule out the possibility that these concepts are interrelated. For example, in studying linear equations with one variable, students must first know the concept of algebraic operations. This study aims to describe the concept of mathematical connection ability, describe the learning strategies used to improve the mathematical connection skills of junior high school students, and provide an overview of learning designs to improve mathematical connection skills for junior high school students. The method used by the author is a literature review method. Based on the studies conducted, it can be concluded that the ability of mathematical connection is the ability of students to relate between topics in mathematics and then mathematics topics with other sciences or with everyday life. The strategy or model used in learning mathematics is an important part for an educator in planning learning designs that will be applied in the learning process. Therefore, it is important for further researchers to apply existing strategies or models to different materials, so that they can be studied further about students' connection abilities in the learning process. Abstract

Technological developments in the field of education require teachers to be more creative in creating technology-based learning media by utilizing Android. Therefore, this study aims to develop an Android on the material of a two-variable linear equation system for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Kupang that is valid, practical and effective. The method used in this research is the R&D method and the model used is the ADDIE development model. The data collection techniques and instruments used are interviews, questionnaires and tests. The data analysis techniques used are field study analysis techniques, validity analysis techniques, practicality analysis techniques and effectiveness analysis techniques. The results showed that the developed media met the criteria of being valid, practical and effective. The average total validity by material experts is 4.58, practitioners are 4.65 and media experts are 4.25, “very valid”. The average total practicality of the teacher is 4.75 and the students where in the small class trial is 4.63, in the large class trial it is 4.43 "very practical". The percentage of completeness in small group trials obtained results of 100% "very effective", in large group trials obtained results of 81.25%, so android-based learning media is very feasible to use

Abstract

This study aims to describe the conception of creative thinking ability in mathematics and describe the application of creative thinking in mathematics learning for students at junior high school. The method used in this paper is literature study, which is carried out by tracing various reference libraries in the form books, and articles/journals. Based on the theories studied, it is concluded that creative thinking ability is the ability to think logically and divergently to generate ideas or various kinds of answers to a given mathematical problem, where a given mathematical problem can be solved with more than one solution and through fluent thinking, flexible, elaborating and having originality in the solution. Creative thinking has an important role in learning process. The application of creative thinking in mathematics learning requires teachers to be able to design learning that is able to open opportunities for the creation and development of students' mathematical creative thinking ability. In the learning design that is prepared, it must involve creative problems that lead students to think creatively so that it can lead to increasing students' creative thinking ability

Abstract

Technology in education demands innovative and creative learning by utilizing android smartphones to improve student learning outcomes. Therefore, this study aims to develop and produce an android-based application on algebraic form material to improve student learning outcomes for grade VII students of SMP Negeri 8 Kupang that is valid, practical, and effective and to find out teacher and student responses to the application.The method used in this study is the Research and Development (R&D) research method and the model used for ADDIE development which consists of 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation andevaluation (evaluation). Data collection techniques used are interviews, questionnaires and learning outcomes tests. The data analysis technique used is qualitative data analysis and quantitative data analysis.The results showed that the Algebra Learning Application met the valid, practical and effective eligibility criteria and was able to improve student learning outcomes. The average total validity by material experts is 4.01, education practitioners are 4.23, and media experts are 4.66, with the "valid" category. The average total practicality of the teacher is 4.81 and that of the students in the small group is 4.2, while in the large group is 4.62 with the "practical" category. The percentage of mastery learning using learning media is 83.33% in the "effective" category. There was an increase in interest and completeness of student learning outcomes which initially increased from 40% to 83.33% so that the Algebra Learning application was very feasible to use. Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out if there is an effect of problem based learning on the improvement of mathematical creative thinking ability of eighth grade students of SMPN 6 Kupang Tengah SATAP on the material of a two-variable linear equation system. This type of research is a pre-experimental research with one group pretest-posttest research design. This research was conducted at SMPN 6 Kupang Tengah SATAP on grade VIII students. The research instrument was in the form of test at the beginning of learning (pre-test) and test after the end of learning activities (post-test). Before using the instrument, validity and reliability tests. Furthermore, data analysis was carried out using normalized N-Gain calculations and through the stages of normality test and hypothesis test. The results showed that there was an increase in the average pre-test and post-test results after giving an experiment with the score 0.34 and the increase also occurred in every indicator of creative thinking ability which is detailed as follows: the score of originality 0.41, fluency 0.4, flexibility 0.21 and elaboration 0.38. Overall, the increase for each indicator of creative thinking is in the medium category, which is 0.35.

Abstract

This thesis aims to describe research trends in mathematics learning innovation in the Covid-19 pandemic era for junior high school students and present implications and recommendations for mathematics learning innovations for junior high school students in the future. The method used in this writing is article review, which is done by browsing various articles from national and international journals. In the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, the learning process which is usually carried out in the classroom must be carried out at home via online (in the network) or remotely without meeting face to face. This makes it a challenge for educators to be able to innovate related to learning carried out in the pandemic era, especially in learning mathematics. The focus of this research is to describe research trends in mathematics learning innovation in the Covid-19 pandemic era. The methods used by researchers in data collection include questionnaires, observations, interviews, documentation and knowledge tests. Some studies use virtual classes, video conferencing and also use a combination of virtual classes and video conferencing in their learning. The recommendations for further research in order to use the right methods or media, which can answer problems that occur during online learning, so that learning can be effective, motivate and improve the results of mathematics learning so as to achieve its learning goals.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menghasilkan produk berupa media pembelajaran berbasis android yang layak menggunakan Smart Apps Creator pada materi pola bilangan untuk siswa kelas VIII SMPK Kristen Tunas Gloria. Kelayakan Media pembelajaran ini meliputi 3 aspek yaitu valid, praktis dan efektif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Research and Development (R&D) serta model yang digunakan dalam proses pengembangan media adalah model pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri dari 5 tahapan yaitu analisis (analysis), desain (design), pengembangan (development), implementasi (implementation) dan evaluasi (evaluation). Teknik dan instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, angket dan tes. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis kevalidan, teknik analisis kepraktisan dan teknik analisis keefektifan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis android yang dikembangkan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran materi Pola Bilangan untuk siswa kelas VIII di SMPK Kristen Tunas Gloria. Hasil kelayakan media tersebut diperoleh dari penilaian ahli materi dengan rata-rata 4.53 dan penilaian ahli media 4.4 sehingga dikategorikan “valid”, respon guru mata pelajaran dengan rata-rata hasil respon yaitu 4.8, respon dari siswa kelas kecil adalah 4.51 dan kelas besar adalah 4.44 sehingga termasuk dalam kategori “praktis”, serta hasil tes ketuntasan belajar kelas kecil diperoleh hasil persentase kelulusan sebesar 83.3% dan kelas besar diperoleh hasil persentase kelulusan sebesar 85% sehingga berdasarkan hasil tes ketuntasan belajar siswa, media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan termasuk dalam kategori “efektif”.

Abstract

Grade point average (GPA) is an indicator that describes the quality of student learning process. Students’ GPA is actually influenced by various factors, including metacognitive ability. This study aimed to determine the effect of metacognitive ability on the GPA of students of Mathematics Education Study Program, FKIP University of Nusa Cendana in the 2021/2022 academic year. The population in this study were all active students of the mathematics education study program for the 2021/2022 academic year. The research sample was students from the 2019/2020 class, consist of 89 students, that were chosen randomly. The instruments used were metacognitive ability questionnaire, while the documentation is carried out to obtain students’ GPA data from the academic section of the mathematics education study program. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with simple linear regression analysis techniques using SPSS 25. The results showed that there was significant effect of metacognitive ability on the GPA of mathematics education students at the University of Nusa Cendana. This is indicated by the value of Fcount = 13.439 > Ftable = 3.951 and the value of sig = 0.000 < . It also found that the magnitude of the influence given by metacognitive ability variable on students’ GPA is 13,4%, while the other 86,6% is influenced by other variables. The results of this study also show the regression equation model .

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is one of the main goals in learning mathematics. Learning through problem solving is the key to developing this ability. Problem solving itself can be interpreted as an activity to solve complex problems which is problems that do not have automatic solutions but require reasoning to solve them. Generally, problems like these are given by the teacher during learning, then ask students to solve, with hope that students will learn and the development the HOTS during solving these problems. On the other hand, learning to solve problems can also be done using problems raised by the students themselves or known as problem posing. This strategy directs students to create new problems or reformulate problems based on the problems or information provided and then solve these new problems. This article aims to discuss problem posing strategy and examples of problem design using this strategy in integral calculus learning. Furthermore, how the problem posing strategy can facilitate students' mathematics HOTS during learning is also discussed in this article.
