Abstract

This research presents a methodology and example of doing both a textual criticism and a word study or a lexical analysis of the Hebrew word. The textual external evidence strongly favors the consonantal text of reading one because all the ancient versions support it. The internal evidence, though it is not as strong as external evidence, has endorsements from its context and appearances of that word in Hebrew Bible. In Isaiah 62:1, the best understanding of יד ִּפַל is not from literal sense but rather symbolic. The context of the usage of this term is God will restore Zion, particularly in her salvation, which is symbolized as a torch that burns. It means that Yahweh will make glorious Zion’s deliverance like a torch so that all nations, including their kings, will be witnesses of Zion’s restoration.

Abstract

The problem in this paper lies in the polemic that arises in the understanding of double predestination, especially regarding the theological dilemmas in it. On the one hand, God is described as a cruel and inhuman God when only choosing some people to be saved, and on the other hand Christian doctrine recognizes that God does indeed choose some people to love. The purpose of writing this essay is to prove that a comprehensive approach can reduce theological dilemmas and conflicts when discussing the formulation of predestination. The research method used is literature study, by describing the core of Calvin's double predestination and reviewing it by involving the interrelated attributes of God. The results of this study prove that when the concept of predestination is reviewed by involving the attributes of God as a whole, it appears that God cannot be called an arrogant God when choosing humans in the project of salvation.

Abstract

The issue of the relationship between faith and knowledge is very interesting to be studied from the contemporary times. Each period of life is unique in understanding the issues of faith and knowledge. Likewise, John Hick's opinion in his book ‘Faith and Knowledge’ is very interesting to be researched. In this brief paper, the writer limits the definitions analysis to Oxford Dictionary and John Hick. Then, the writer will evaluate those definitions to clarify the relationship between faith and knowledge. The understanding that opposes faith and knowledge will cause confusion when talking about the issue of them.Is there a gap between faith and knowledge? We would say that there is no gap between them. We admit, however, that there is a sequence or an order between them. First, it begins with the revelation of God that produces passive faith to us. Through various circumstances, experiences and education, we as human being will embrace the process of getting knowledge about reality and God’s revelation.

Abstract

In the Zechariah, there are various visions and prophecies that are so difficult to be understood today. And this can be biased if every Bible’s learner interprets it as he pleases. In this research, which uses the Lexical Analysis approach, will discuss about the meaning of the words בָּרֹד and מֵֽהִתְיַצֵּ֖ב of In Zechariah 6:3-5. With in-depth observation and also making language comparisons, it can be concluded that: בָּרֹדin Zechariah 6:3 should be translated as dappled, a literal or concrete definition. Old Testament does not give any specific color with regard to the dappled. However, it seems that the color of horses in Zechariah 6:1-8 has a function to distinguish one chariot from the other chariots. יצבin Zechariah 6:5 should be interpreted in the sense of readiness to serve God, a metaphorical extension of the concrete definition, ‘to stand’. The four spirits are going forth after serving the Lord of all the earth in the heavens. It implies that the four spirits are belonged to God. In the heavens, they are serving God and when going to the earth, they carry God’s mission.

Abstract

The relationship between the Church (religion) and politics is a very important matter to be discussed both in the academic sphere and in the scope of society in general. The relationship is different from time to time as the relationship between the two raises a polemic. This is due to the understanding that the field of service the church must be restricted to theological matters. On the other hand, there are those who hold that church activities cannot be narrowed only to abstract / theological matters. The church must instead show its concern on social issues that are very concrete, for example political issues. But before we enter into the discussion of the relationship between "Church and Politics", it helps us to understand what church and politics are

Abstract

Ahmad Dahlan is the fourth child. Born in 1868 to a traditional Muslim family domiciled in Kauman, a religious village in Yogyakarta. The village is located just beside the Sultan Palace of Yogyakarta, and is a well-known village inhabited by Muslims. When he was a child, his name was Muhammad Darwisy. Upon returning from Mecca, he changed his name to Ahmad Dahlan. His father Kiai Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Sulaiman, was the official Kotib of the Great Mosque of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. His mother named Siti Aminah was the daughter of Religious Judge Kiai Haji Ibrahim. According to the biographers of Ahmad Dahlan, one of Dahlan's ancestors was the first and most famous guardian of Wali Songo, Maulana Malik Ibrahim. Even the Dutch report said he was Arabic. This report may be true because based on this genealogical background, which was strengthened by his interest in reform ideas, Ahmad Dahlan - before establishing his own organization - joined Jamiat Kheir and later sent his son to study at the school the organization had founded. This paper aims to see to what extent the approach strategy and values used by Ahmad Dahlan to advance Islamic teachings? What is the Government's attitude towards what Ahmad Dahlan has done? Then, how is the author's critical evaluation of Ahmad Dahlan's approach to strategy to education in Indonesia? Application: challenge Indonesian national educators.

Abstract

Research on the commitment of the poor at the Cinta Orang Miskin Foundation is motivated by the reality of academic and practical gaps. From an academic perspective, researchers have never found the commitment of the poor at the Cinta Orang Miskin Foundation, even though the number of poor people is committed for the church to thrive. Currently the number reaches 1,300 people. On a practical level, this research wants to explore the decisions of these poor people to find out their commitment to involvement in the Cinta Orang Miskin Foundation (COM), which is served by Pastor Gunawan Setiadarma in Surabaya, East Java, which has experienced significant growth from 23 congregations to 1,300 people. The problem of poverty is a problem that is being faced by the nation (nations in the world in general. The Indonesian nation itself cannot be separated from the poverty problem. The economic crisis that occurs within the Indonesian nation has an impact on all aspects of people's lives. It can be seen from the existence of people who live in poverty, live in slum environments, and the number of children (street children who are scattered in cities (cities in Indonesia). During this economic crisis, the number of street children in Indonesia increased drastically.

Abstract

The subject of the unity of the church has appeared several times during the period of church history as a major subject. Even in the 20th century, differences of opinion on the subject of unity led to divisions. This point cannot be ignored. That is why the researcher conducted an integrated exegessa study on the meaning of the Church as the unity of the body of Christ Ephesians 2: 11-22. Ephesians 2: 11-22 is not a separate passage, but integrative, with other passages in the book of Ephesians. (this would be integrative both with Ephesians 2: 1-10 and Ephesians 4: 1-6) The conjunction "therefore" in Ephesians 2.11, describes the preceding verses that speak of grace. The suffering of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross, and His shed blood, are manifestations of grace that saves sinners. A demonstration of grace, which is free gift. It is the grace that saves people from sin. Thus Ephesians 2: 11-22 must be seen as a context that comes from grace. The saving or salvation based on the grace of God, as a building body of Christ, which is a union, which was previously "distant", ie those who are without Christ, not belonging to the citizens of Israel, become one body of Christ as intended by God. Ephesians 2: 11-22 explains that the unification of the body of Christ is a reflection of the journey of a Christian individual who has been saved by the grace of Christ God, is united or united with other Christian individuals to move towards the unity of building the body of Christ, as the Temple of God. the church as the unified Body of Christ, is built on the teachings of the Apostles and Prophets. Thus, the church, which has a government, a doctrine that may not be the same as one another, but the church is a unity in the bonds of the Spirit of peace, one faith, one Baptism, one god, one GOD the FATHER of all God, as salt and The light of the world, brings transformation and restoration for the world, through the carrying out of the task of the grace of Christ, namely the preaching of the gospel of the kingdom of heaven, so that all knees will kneel and all tongues confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the heavenly Father.

Abstract

Discipleship is undeniably the psychomotor of the church as well as the application of the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Himself did discipleship which started with 12 disciples as well as 70 disciples. Likewise with the life of the Apostles, there were Paul, Silas, Timothy and Titus, where they became messengers of Christ Jesus the Lord preaching about the Kingdom of Heaven. The kingdom of heaven gave birth to the church. So the youth with the concept of the kingdom of heaven should be a bridge for the millennial generation. Millennials tend to be: Multitasking (working with a variety of activities), Collaboration (strong collaboration skills), Transparency (openness in many fields), balance of work and way of life (healthy ways of life and nutritious intake), Tech savvy that is concerned with the latest technology / updates status, connected in social media, hard worker, concerned with job satisfaction. Reaching the end of the concept of discipleship with power of ministry based on the kingdom of heaven has not been as expected unto the millennial generation in life will become a strong generation with a mentality that is more than a winner with the power of the Lord Jesus working in their lives. They live under free sex, drugs and pornography ect. How can we as a leader to disciple them and knowing heavenly Father to become a millennial generation who have dignity and are directed towards the glory of God.
