Abstract

The schools in Sumenep still become spaces that reproduces patriarchy. Documentation data at two high schools, SMAN 1 Kalianget and SMAN 1 Sumenep, show that for 15 years the majority of teachers selected to participate in the selection of principal candidates were male teachers. This study aims to analyze the patriarchal habitus of selecting prospective principals at SMAN 1 Sumenep and SMAN 1 Kalianget. So far, the selection of school principal candidates has been a contested space that is full of conflicts, but is often forgotten. The method used is qualitative with a Schutz phenomenological approach. Interviews, observations, and documentation became tools for data collection. Through Bourdieu's theory, the result is that the reproduction of the patriarchal teacher selection to participate in the selection of prospective principals occurs due to the defeat of female teachers' accumulated capital with male teachers. In addition, there is the politicization of religion and matrilineal relations with patriarchy being the main habitus. This condition causes female teachers to experience defeat in an arena.

Abstract

Sexual harassment and violence seem taboo and have not been properly internalized in the social area of our society. The popularity of cases that seem to be constantly appearing in the eyes of the public has formed a massive collective agitation to crush the naughty sexual paradigm. The author is interested in studying how movements and counter-narratives are constructed to realize freedom and understanding related to sexual harassment. The author takes a qualitative approach through a literature review and existing phenomena. The description of the study will be obtained by optimizing the formulation of the interpretation of the topic surrounding the issue of sexual harassment. The interpretation and data elaboration were then analyzed using Kuntowijoyo's Social Prophetic theoretical line. This research concludes that various forms of agitation are exposed as exposures in building the value of humanization and liberation for all people fairly and safely.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of marriage among female university students. This study focuses on discussing the dual role and gender inequality of female students at the State Islamic University (UIN) Imam Bonjol Padang. The approach in this study uses a gender bias approach and feminism. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative involving several key informants. The data sources in this study were obtained from direct observation (observation), interviews, literature studies and documentation. The findings of this study indicate that the roles and responsibilities experienced by female students simultaneously have had a negative impact on academic life in the form of continuing education in lectures that are not on target and on home life due to self-preparation, proper time management, mental unpreparedness, and unpreparedness. The economy causes a negative impact on women themselves because of their involvement in meeting household needs, so this reality can be a trigger for the birth of conflict and the marginalization of women.

Abstract

This article aims to find out how the locality value of panginyongan is implemented in Banyumasan culture, through a strategy for managing household role conflicts. The women activists who are active in public spaces, consciously have a dual role, but which factors are the most significant in supporting their harmony are not necessarily understood, so there has been no effort to maintain their existence. This article is a field study that takes a sample of women activists in Banyumas. The process of extracting data is carried out by means of in-depth interviews to determine the gender perception index, then using focus group discussions (FGD) to find out how the informants internalize the Panginyongan cultural values in their lives, especially related to the division of household roles. With the point of view of the subjects studied, the research is expected to produce a thick description of the strategy for managing household role conflicts through the cultural values of panginyongan. The results showed that the equality of positions had permeated through the equivalence of language, speech, attitude and behavior, so that none of the household players felt humiliated or exalted in filling domestic or public duties. If the wife is left for outdoor activities, the husband plays a role in completing the abandoned domestic work, and vice versa.

Abstract

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) group is a group that is marginalized due to issues of gender and sexuality. The LGBT community is often stigmatized as immoral and deviant, considered the source of HIV/AIDS, contrary to religion, as a disease, and not by state ideology. Society's knowledge of heteronormative gender and sexuality makes the LGBT group abnormal. The media can construct or deconstruct what people believe to be true. This study intends to explain how the representation of LGBT groups in news coverage in the mass media. In particular, the news in the online media Detik.com. Detik.com was chosen because it is one of the pioneers of internet-based mass media and always occupies Indonesia's top ten most popular websites. This research used Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis method, focusing on social structure, class, and social relations. Norman Fairclough presents three dimensions of analysis: text analysis, discourse practice, and sociocultural practice. The study results show Detik.com reporting on LGBT issues dominates in putting LGBT groups in a corner. The LGBT group is still represented as "deviant" and prone to discrimination.
