Thus, it isintended to obtain reliable information whether there was a significantdifference between the result posttest and pretest score in the students’speaking achievement .The design of the study was pre experimental design. The samples of thestudy were taken from the students of second semester of STKIPQOMARUDDIN . The experimental group was taught speaking skill by usingEnglish corner technique. Before giving the treatment the students were givenpretest and After giving the treatment, the students were also given a post testfor collecting the data. The data of the test which were in the form of the gained score wasanalyzed by using t-test with the significant level of p=5%. It was found that themean score of the pretest was 38.50But the mean of posttest was 71.93 . Then, the statistical computation onthe gained score revealed that the t value was 21.296 while the t table value at p= 5% is 2.052. It shows that the obtained t value was much higher than that ofthe critical one. Thus, it is clear that the difference of the two means gainedscore was significant. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application ofEnglish Corner on students’ speaking achievement was most effective. Then, based on the result of this research, it is suggested to the Englishteachers to apply this method in the speaking class. Meanwhile, the researcherhopes that other researchers can use the findings as the basis to conduct otherresearch design. Keywords: Effectiveness, Improving, Speaking achievement, English Corner

According to H.P Grice (1913-88) the maxims are generalprinciples which are thought to underlie the efficient use of language, andwhich together identify general co-operative principle. The researcher focusesto the two maxims, the Maxim of Manner and Maxim of Relevance. Theresearcher uses descriptive qualitative design. This research is categorized asqualitative research, because the researcher presents the data by describing andinterpreting the data based on the maxims criteria. The result of the research isthat the status updaters use different utterance to show and invite thecommentators to be able to interpret the ideas go, while the commentators haveinterpretation option in interpreting the status based on the maxim criteria andthe principle of co-operation maxim. Abstract

It is widely argued that Grice’s theory of implicature has wide anduseful applications. Based on Grice’s Cooperative Principle and its maxims, thisstudy attempts to analyze pragmatically the conversational implicatures in film“The Vow”. The result shows that in the conversation, the four maxim areflouted. The maxims of Quantity (2, 86%) the highest score. 13 out of 22dialogues flouted this maxim. The second frequently flouted are the maxim ofrelevance and manner (1, 6%), and then followed by maxim of quality (1, 54%).These maxims are considered to be flouted based on the category and thecharacteristic given by Grice (1967). In this analysis, I argue that the step-by stepreasoning rigor of the CP and its maxims is worth being inspected by linguistsin general and pragmatiticists in particular. Abstract

In this research the researcher is interested in conducting a research on the morphological process of English. Morphological process is the devices by which the constituent words of a paradigm are differentiated from one another. It deals with how a certain word is formed. A word can be derived from another word or can be formed from a certain available word. This research is intended to make a comparison between English andArabic morphological process. There are three research questions . They are as the followings: 1. What kinds of affixes are found in English and Arabic? 2. Are there the internal change forms in English and Arabic? 3. Are there zero modification forms in English and Arabic? The significance of the study are: Theoretically, this research will give more data of English and Arabic morphological processes that can be used to support and build a strong theory concerning the morphological process in both languages (English and Arabic).
