Abstract

Problem solving becomes something important to be taught to students because it can practice critical thinking in solving the problems related to daily life. One of the mathematical materials that important to be taught because it related to daily life is the quadratic function. In fact, students still have many mistake to solve the problem of quadratic function problem that oriented to problem solving. The aim of this research is to describe (1) the student error location of problem solving based on Polya's step in the quadratic function material for tenth grade, (2) the student error causes of problem solving based on Polya's step in the quadratic function material for tenth grade. This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this research were 24 students of tenth grade in MA Al Anwar Pacul Gowang Jombang. Data collection techniques are the test, interview, and documentation. Data analysis through the data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results show that the location of the error problem solving made by students was the second Polya's step (making plan) and fourth (looking back). The causes of student problem solving error is because students are not accustomed to do on story problem, so that students are not understand the problem and rushing in working it.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of students to solve higher order thinking skills questions. the type of research used is a quantitative descriptive approach using the polya model. Data retrieval is done by using the HOTS indicator, namely: Analyzing, Evaluating, Creating. Data collection techniques used are written test methods. The results of this study were seen from one item analyzing items, one item evaluating questions, one item creating and can be seen from the results of students` ability to solve higher order thinking skills polya steps. Based on the three items of questions namely the problem of analyzing, evaluating, creating can be seen the ability to think high-level students with a percentage of the aspect of analyzing the stage of understanding the problem reached 80%, the stage of planning the completion of 66,7%, the stage of implementing the plan reached 60%, and the stage of checking again reached 13,3%, evaluating aspects at the stage of understanding the problem 66,7%, the stage of planning the completion reached 60%, the stage of implementing the plan reached 53,3%, the rechecking stage reached 6,7%, the creating aspect at the stage of understanding the problem reached 53,3%, the stage of planning the completion reaches 0%, the stage of implementing the plan reaches 0%, and the stage of re-checking 0%

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that many students find difficult. This is because the abstract mathematical objects, so students are difficult to understand. Thus mathematics learning needs to be endeavored according to the cognitive abilities of students, to concrete abstract mathematical objects so that students can understand them easily. From the experience of researchers in teaching over the years, many students have difficulty understanding dimensional slices of a three especially to get up the field. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct research that aims to improve students' understanding of the concept of a slice of a field with a space structure, with the object of research being students of class X-A SMA Negeri 8 Kupang. The approach taken in this study is a qualitative approach using a classroom action research design. Implementation of the actions carried out in two cycles, the first cycle is the implementation of learning material slices of a field to get up the sketch with the media, and the second cycle of the implementation of learning material a wedge to get up the field with visual media or media-based power point presentation. The data in this study were obtained by observation, administration of questionnaires and tests to the object of research. The data obtained from observations and questionnaires were analyzed by means of qualitative analysis, while the data obtained from the tests were analyzed by means of quantitative analysis. The results showed that the students' mastery of a slice of a field with a space of >80% with an average final test result of 88.6 and 68% of students said that the use of visual media could improve their understanding in learning sliced fields with spatial shapes.

Abstract

This research aims to develop student worksheets with team assisted individualization (TAI) cooperative learning models in Pythagoras Theorem materials. This research aims to find out the increased interest in learning and student learning outcomes. The method used in this study uses research and development (R & D) method with ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluatio) design. The data collection techniques used in this study are questionnaires, validation sheets and study results tests. Instruments used are device validation sheets, student response questionnaires, student learning interest questionnaires and student learning outcomes. The data analysis technique used is qualitative data consisting of advice and comments from experts and qualitative data judging by the analysis of validity, practicality and effectiveness. The results showed that, learning devices were declared very valid with the average assessment results from experts 4.15, the student response questionnaire reached 73.81% which is intended in the positive category so that the developed LKS is declared practical, the student learning interest questionnaire reached 70.33% that is in the positive category as well as the results of students who reach an average of 81.66% that exist in the complete category.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the mathematical literacy skills of grade VIII students of MTs Kupang State School Year 2019/2020. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study were 30 students grade MTs Kupang State School Year 2019/2020. The object of this research is the mathematical literacy ability of students grade MTs Kupang State School Year 2019/2020. Data collection techniques with tests using essay tests. Instruments used in research are essay type tests, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are three, namely, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Test the validity of the data in this study using triangulation techniques. From the results of the study shows that the results of the calculation of the percentage of students who are able to reach KKM as much as 40% while students who do not reach KKM as much as 60%, thus it is concluded that the mathematical literacy ability of grade MTs Kupang state is still low because in this class there are still many students who are weak on formulating and planning strategies in solving problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the mathematical representation capabilities of junior high school students. This research has been conducted at SMP Negeri 16 Kupang School Year 2019/2020. The method used in the study was a descriptive analysis method, which involved 76 students as samples. The student's mathematical representation ability test instrument used as many as 3 questions in the form of descriptions. The results revealed that students' mathematical representation skills in Comparative materials had an average score of 72.51. Students' mathematical representation ability on symbol representation indicators with an average of 85.33 is higher than the verbal representation and image representation indicators; image representation indicator with a score of 60 is still below average; and verbal representation indicators have an average of 72.66. There are several factors that affect the level of ability of mathematical representation of students, including students still find it difficult to convert mathematics symbols into images, turn math problems into mathematical symbols or models and convey mathematical ideas using their own language and words. The ability of students to solve math problems using symbol and verbal representation is quite satisfactory while students use image representation is not maximal.

Abstract

Mathematics learning is a teaching and learning process that is built by the teacher to develop students 'creative thinking skills that can improve students' thinking abilities, and can increase the ability to construct new knowledge as an effort to increase good mastery of mathematics material. This study aims to determine how to increase the ability to think creatively in mathematics with a constructivism approach in SMA Negeri 2 Kupang. The form of research used is Grounded Theory. Sources of data in this study are primary data and secondary data. There are three (3) data analysis techniques in this research, namely: data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The result of this research is an increase in mathematical creative thinking skills that get learning with a constructivism approach is higher than students who get conventional learning. The conclusion of this study is that there is an increase in the ability to think creatively in mathematics using the constructivism approach in class students at SMA Negeri 2 Kupang for the 2019/2020 academic year.

Abstract

Abstract Development of Mathematics Learning Tools with Problem Posing Approach to Improve Reasoning Ability and Independence Learning Mathematics. Essay. Mathematics Education Study Program FKIP Muhammadiyah University Kupang. This study aims to develope learning tools with a problem posing approach to improve reasoning skills and independent learning mathematics. The research used is development research with the modified 4-D Models wich include the defining stage, the design stage and the develop. The population in this study were all students of class X SMA Negeri 5 Kupang. The sample in this study were students of class X of SMA Negeri 5 Kupang. Data analysis techniques used in this study to test the validity, the practicality and the effetiveness. The results showed that the learning tools in the form of RPP and LKS that have been analyzed reach very valid categories with an average score of 4,42. While the average percentage of practicality of data reached 81,67% in the good category. The effetiveness of the data obtained by the results of tests of reasoning ability and learning independence questionnaire, obtained from each student each scored 87,5% and 70% namely in the good and sufficient categories. From the results of the analysis, it was concluded that the development of mathematics learning tools with problem posing approach to improve the reasoning ability and independence of learning mathematics was feasible to use.

Abstract

The objective of this qualitati veresearchist of indout the improvement of the students' math learning resultsusing NHT cooperative learning model (Numbered Heads Together). The data sources of this case study were secondary and primary data. (1) The primary data wereobtained from the information at the research site and (2) the secondary datawerecontainedof the attachments of the scientific journals review. The data were analyzedthrough data reduction, presentation, andconclusions or verification.This studywas about the improvement results of mathematics learning usingNHT cooperative learning model (Numbered Heads Together) in the tenth-grade students of SMK Muhammadiyah Kupangon matrix materials.The study showed that NHTcooperative learning model(Numbered Heads Together) could improve the math learning results of tenth-grade students ofSMK Muhamtsmadiyah Kupangon matrix materials.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui terdapat atau tidaknya perbedaan hasil belajar siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran problem based learning dan model pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Jombang pada saat PPL tahun 2020. Sampel yang diteliti sebanyak 60 siswa yang terdiri dari 30 siswa kelas eksperimen dan 30 siswa kelas kontrol. Rata-rata hasil belajar kelas eksperimen didapat 61,7741 dan rata-rata hasil belajar kelas kontrol didapat 59,354. Pengujian hipotesis dihitung dengan menggunakan uji-t dengan taraf signifikan = 0,05. Didapat thitung = - 0.4717 dan ttabel = 2,001717 = thitung > - ttabel. Maka hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar matematika siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran problem based learning dan model pembelajaran konvensional.
