Abstract

Introduction: The misplacement of precordial electrodes in the electrocardiography (ECG) recording sometimes occurs in the field. Therefore, it needs a simple and easy use of precordial electrodes of ECG that can determine the position of the precordial electrodes fast and accurately. Objectives: This study aimed to compare placement time duration between the precordial lead of ECG SafOne and the precordial lead of standard ECG. Methods: This study employed an experimental study design with a post-test-only equivalent group method. There were 30 subjects involved in this study who were selected using purposive technic sampling. All-time durations of precordial lead placement gained from subjects using both ECG SafOne and standard ECG were identified and measured. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed-rank test to compare the precordial lead of ECG SafOne and standard ECG. Results: The results showed that most subjects involved were elderly (56-65 years old) (46,7 %) and most were male (60%). The result of this study showed that the average placement time duration for ECG SafOne precordial lead is 52,90 seconds, while standard ECG precordial lead is 152,9 seconds. Based on bivariate analysis, there is a remarkable difference in the placement time duration of precordial lead between ECG SafOne and standard ECG with a p-value of 0,000 < α (0,05). Conclusions: The time duration of precordial lead placement of ECG SafOne is significantly faster than standard ECG. To some extent, the result of this study has a beneficial implication for health care professionals in terms of providing professional services by reducing the time to record electrocardiography.

Abstract

Introduction: The increase in mortality of newborns, especially premature babies, is caused by non-optimal lung development where the production of less surfactant triggers lung collapse and compliance. This causes stress on the newborn and requires more intensive care. One of the care taken to overcome these problems is the nesting application. Objectives: To identify the effect of nesting model care on premature infants' respiratory status and behavioral responses. Methods: This study is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post-test group design. The samples were premature infants admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), with as many as 40 respondents. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test and Wilcoxon test. Results: The results showed no significant differences between the respiratory status in modern and conventional nesting, with P-value = 0.292. While there was a significant difference in behavioral responses, both groups with P = 0.027. There was an effect on respiratory status before and after nesting in the modern nesting group where the significance P = 0.001 and no effect in the conventional nesting group with a P value = 0066. Regarding behavioral responses, there was a significant value in two of the group before and after nesting, where the value significance respectively P = 0.009 and P = 0.025. Conclusions: Modern nesting influences scores and behavioral responses in premature infants, while conventional nesting only affects reducing the score of behavioral responses. It is expected that the use of nesting in the NICU room specifically for premature babies prefers the use of modern nesting compared to conventional nesting babies to maintain stability in terms of both respiratory and response behavior.

Abstract

Introduction: Mental health is a critical aspect of the adolescence period. Several symptoms, such as anxiety, loneliness, depression, sleep disturbance, and self-harming thoughts, are likely to emerge among adolescents with mental health issues. Objectives: This study aimed to explore the level of anxiety and social relationship in middle-school adolescents in Denpasar. Methods: This descriptive study enrolled a cross-sectional design. Eighty-eight middle-school adolescents in public and private junior high schools in the Denpasar City area were included as study participants. Data were collected using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) and social relationship questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted by univariate statistical analysis. Results: Findings revealed that 43.5% of participants were experiencing a moderate level of anxiety. The moderate anxiety responses on the physical, cognitive, psychological, and behavioral aspects were also documented. The level of social relationships was identified as moderate, high, and low, with a total percentage of 45.7%, 27.2%, and 27.2%, respectively. These social relationships were characterized by moderate responsiveness, effective communication, and responsibility. Conclusions: Many participants were experiencing a moderate level of anxiety and social relationship. Thus, their skills in constructing good social relationships and managing issues were still insufficient. We suggest organizing a program that actively engages the role of parents and schools to prevent and promote mental health awareness and issues among adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: Self-care activities is one of the critical element of controlling diabetes. Diabetes knowledge and self-efficacy were two main predictors suggested by evidence to be important in supporting diabetes self-care activities; both factors were also found to have a strong relationship. However, the minimal study explored the mediating effect of self-efficacy on diabetes knowledge toward diabetes self-care activities among Indonesian. Objectives: This study wants to explore the role of diabetes knowledge and examine the mediating effect of self-efficacy on diabetes knowledge toward diabetes self-care activities among Indonesian. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional-correlative study among 211 Indonesian adults with diabetes who utilized OPD Hospital in Malang, Indonesia. The primary valid and reliable instruments that measure diabetes knowledge, diabetes self-care activities, and self-efficacy were used in this study. Data were analyzed using SPSS 23 Software, and the mediating effect analysis examines using Hayes PROCESS software for SPSS. Results: Most subjects demonstrated low diabetes knowledge and self-efficacy and reported less than optimal self-care activities. Self-efficacy shows a 'complete mediating effect' in diabetes knowledge toward diabetes self-care activities. Conclusions: This study highlights the importance of diabetes knowledge and self-efficacy and both factors' existence in supporting diabetes self-care activities.
