This necessities the study to examine the effect of cost control strategies on the survival of manufacturing sector in Nigeria, using panel data gathered from annual reports of five selected firms for the period five (5) years between 2015 and 2019. Data on finance cost, salaries, and wages, and sales cost were taken as independent variables to measure the level at which manufacturing companies have been able to manage their costs while return on asset (Income/Total Asset) was taken as dependent variable proxied the performance of manufacturing companies. The study revealed that finance cost and cost of goods sold were insignificant cost to influence the performance of manufacturing sector, however, salaries and wages pose a significant impact on financial performance of manufacturing sector in Nigeria. Abstract

This paper analyzes the impact of liquidity and activity on profitability with capital structure as a mediating variable. Return on assets (ROA) is the company's ability to generate profits in a certain period and develop dynamically that changes from time to time, depending on the variables that affect it as a whole, type of business, or company. This study contributes to the literature by investigating the factors that affect the profitability (ROA) of companies indexed by SRI KEHATI. This study aims to identify the determinants of company profitability either directly or through the role of mediating variables. The analysis used is panel data regression. The selected model is the fixed effect model (FEM) and uses path analysis and Sobel test. The results show that the current ratio has a direct effect on capital structure and capital structure has a direct effect on ROA. On the other hand, the current ratio and working capital turnover have no direct effect on ROA and working capital turnover does not directly affect the capital structure. The results of the path analysis prove that the capital structure is able to mediate the effect of the current ratio on ROA.

Abstract

The problem of poverty in countries with a Muslim majority can be overcome by optimizing the utilization of zakat. One form of zakat that has great potential to be optimized is income zakat or professional zakat.  According to the Pekanbaru Baznas, the potential for zakat could reach Rp90 billion. The method of data analysis in this study is to use a binary logistic regression model. This method was chosen because it is a standard analytical method when the outcome variable is dichotomous and is measured with a value of 1 or 0, where 1 = decision to pay professional zakat and 0 = decision not to pay professional zakat. The results of this study are the income variable has a positive and significant effect on Muzakki's decision to pay professional zakat in Pekanbaru City, which is 35.6%. However, the role of the government and the role of the ulama have no significant effect on Muzakki's decision to pay professional zakat in Pekanbaru City. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the variables of income, the role of the government, and the role of the ulama together have a significant effect, but partially the role of the government and the role of the ulama have no significant effect on Muzakki's decision to pay professional zakat in Pekanbaru City.
