Abstract

Abstract The focus of the discussion in the paper is Dialog in Encounter of the "I" Philosophy, a philosophical review of Armada Riyanto and John Paul II's thoughts on dialogue. The fact that the world is multidimensional is unavoidable. Within this plurality, for example, each religion has a claim of truth.Living together in society is a calling. Therefore, the presence of one human in the midst of another human must be a blessing. Every human being must have openness to each other, so that life together becomes more beautiful. However, it cannot be denied that in life together, every human being has his or her own freedom. It becomes a problem when humans abuse their freedom, causing conflict in the midst of life together. Every human being with all his circumstances also has freedom and will. This fact shows that humans need dialogue so that in life together they can respect and understand each other, so as to create a harmonious and peaceful life. The methodology used is literature study. Reading the thoughts of John Paul II from several documents, then having a dialogue with the concept of "I am not yet full" in Riyanto's Fleet Relationality philosophy. I discovered that there is no human being who has experienced fullness or perfection in himself. I am "not yet full" need a relationship with others, so that the empty part of me is filled and fulfilled. Encounters with others actually make one person more complete. Humans who have dialogue are humans who are headed for change and development.

Abstract

The presentation in this paper departs from Habermas's description in Technical Progress and the Social Life-World (1971). Technical progress produces a realm or world called the system, the world of engineering, which can be compared with the everyday world, namely the life-world. This description aims to reveal the extreme contradiction between the two which also departs from the thoughts of Snow, Huxley, Schelsky, and Frayer. The approach used in this research is the study of texts: the method of literature or literature review. In this case, a literature search is carried out by reading various books, journals, and other publications related to certain research topics. Checked the list of books and journals related to Habermas, both in private libraries, campus libraries, regional (public) libraries, bookstores, and the internet in the form of e-books and e-journals – browsing websites. From this bibliographic search, several sources were found in the form of books, journals, magazines, and proceedings. In his study, Habermas sees that the two worlds have their interests. That is, the direction of development of both presupposes a reciprocal relationship. However, this relationship can also be unidirectional which can dominate other areas. To avoid this domination, Habermas offers a solution in the form of dialogue, public communication that is free from domination, which can be carried out through political policies. Habermas sees that public communication is the only way to fight the domination of the system. By turning to communication, according to Habermas, pessimism over technical progress that has resulted in disaster for humanity can be overcome.

Abstract

The Dead Sea Scrolls are the oldest manuscripts found among the manuscripts that have served as evidence of the authenticity of the Scriptures used by Christians to this day. Therefore, study about the Scriptures becomes very interesting with the comparative evidence of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Although there are still those who doubt the authenticity of the Christian Scriptures, historical, philological, archaeological, and critical analysis from Bible scholars have proven that the Scriptures used today can be accounted for authenticity. The method used in this article is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis and verification as exposure and evidence from available sources. From the results of the discussion, it was found that the Dead Sea Scrolls along with the oldest manuscripts owned by the church such as Ben Ezra or Geniza, Hallap or Allepo Syria, and Codex Leninghard are irrefutable evidence that in terms of content, the Holy Scriptures from thousands of years ago until today have valid reliability. In other words, the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls is complementary and interrelated evidence that the Scriptures that have been used by Christians cannot be doubted. However, it does not rule out of possibility for people who still doubt the authenticity of the Bible by studying it through the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls manuscript. These findings can be used as a comparative study in studying the Old Testament Scriptures and even the entire contents of the Christian Scriptures, especially the Catholic Canon. Therefore, it is our great hope that through this writing, we can increase knowledge about the essence of the Old Testament Scriptures, the process of finding the Dead Sea Scrolls, the process of canonization to become the Scriptures used by Catholics in general.

Abstract

Abstract

This research was motivated by the rise of traditional marriages carried out by the Indigenous Peoples of the Menjalin Subdistrict, Landak Regency during the COVID-19 pandemic. From the author's search, not many of them do marriage in marriage and marriage in the State. This research was conducted using the ethnographic method in the period February-June 2021. The findings of this study indicate that the public's perception of traditional marriage is something that is legal. The Kanayatn Dayak Indigenous People see that customary marriage is more important than church and state marriage. This perception is influenced by a strong belief in their culture, where they feel more guilty towards the spirits of their ancestors if they do not carry out marriage customs compared to state marriages. Another thing is lazy administration with the church and the government. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there is also a prohibition on preparing for a traditional wedding attended by people who are limited for one reason.

Abstract

The background of this research is the high phenomenon of cultural violence in West Kalimantan in the period 1966-2000. The author wants to study the relationship between these phenomena and political events that occurred both at the Indonesian National level and at the regional level in West Kalimantan. The author uses the library method in collecting the necessary data, the data is then processed with the theory of culture and conflict. After conducting research for three months, the author finally concludes that the phenomenon of culture of violence in West Kalimantan stems from practical political interests carried out by ethnic elites to gain power. This phenomenon is also influenced by political events that occur at the national level. On the other hand, the strengthening of identity politics cannot be separated from the role of ethnic institutions. Institutions such as MAD (Majelis Adat Dayak) and MABM (Majelis Adat Budaya Melayu) have created a sense of ethnic pride. Sometimes the pride is excessive and even leads to ethnic militancy (ethnocentrism). Incidentally, these institutions were established before the occurrence of large-scale and massive ethnic riots. Therefore, do not be surprised if it is later associated with ethnic consolidation. Various parties then saw that ethnicity institutions greatly strengthened ethnic identity politics in West Kalimantan

Abstract

This research is based on the author's concern about the lack of Pastoral services, especially for the sick. Sick people I mean are patients who are treated at the general hospital of Santo Antonius Pontianak, which is the locus of this research. As far as the researchers observed, they only get physical attention but spiritual needs are often ignored by the hospital. In solving the problem, the author uses a descriptive-qualitative form of research. From the results of data processing, it can be concluded that Pastoral for the Sick is carried out by employees appointed by the hospital, Pastors, and Sisters. Approximately three hours for each room, each patient is visited for 2-10 minutes, 2-3 times a week and the most often given to patients is the sacrament service (Communion and extreme unction) by the Pastor or Sister (nun), Patient Catholics are given priority to receive Pastoral Care for the Sick. While non-Catholic patients are given if there is a request from the family or the patient himself. The effects of Pastoral Care on the Sick in non-Catholic patients are not very visible. However, the patients who are Catholics think they feel very happy, feel comforted, feel strengthened, have peace, feel perfect, and are increasingly aware of God's presence. Patients like there is inner peace, this can be seen in the depression and anxiety of patients who are reduced. Keywords: Service, Pastoral, Sick People.
