Abstract

This research aims to know the impact of globalization on the lifestyle of students in SMA Negeri 2 Kupang. This research used a qualitative method which was intended deeply the lifestyle of students. The subjects of this study were students, teachers, and parents. As for data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used data reduction, data display, and data verification. The results of the research show that SMA Negeri 2 Kupang city obtained the negative effects of globalization include how to dress students who no longer upload cultural values, uniforms that are supposed to be formally made like the clothes they see in the media. As for the positive realities of globalization such as students attire that is increasingly creative and broadly creative about lifestyles such as popular figures who inspire them. The lifestyle of SMA Negeri 2 Kupang city namely, they spend time in eating places and cafes, and their manner of dress often imitates famous artists and figures that inspire them.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out if the theory of constructive study can improve the outcome of the learning sociology. The method used qualitative which analyses several journals of constructive theory by reviewing the journals. This is one way of analysis and synthesized critical and deep out of that journal. The data was analysed with qualitative teachniques among reviewing journal, reading, studying, coding, writing and visualization. The results of the several journal analysis show that constructivist learning theory can improve learning outcomes and student activity, and students not only receive learning material from the teacher but students are also able to understand, transfer and develop the knowledge they have. The constructivist learning theory can also improve student learning outcome, such it is obtained from constructing students’ knowledge by solving problems in the learning process that are done independently or in groups.

Abstract

The aim of this research is 1. To find out how the application of Jigsaw type cooperation learning models in Sociology subject in Senior High School. 2 To find out how the Jigsaw Cooperation Learning Models in improving students learning outcomes. The method used in this analysis is a journal review. Data sources are obtained from several journals regarding jigsaw type cooperative learning models by reviewing jigsaw. Journal review is making analysis and making a critical and in-depth synthesis of these journals. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that the application of the learning model by forming an origin group and an expert group can have a positive influence on increased learning outcomes. Jigsaw type cooperative learning models in improving student learning outcomes can be pursued through improving students’ reasoning abilities as well as increasing students learning activities by helping students to be more active in learning and take responsibility for the material being studied and improve communication skills.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the application of character education in learning sociology, and the role of sociology in the character development of students in school. The method used in this study is a qualitative method using discourse analysis. The results of this study indicate that the application of character education through sociology learning in schools is carried out through the integration of values and norms and material on multicultural societies in schools. The application of character education is also carried out through the application of learning tools that support the character development of learners at schools. The role of sociology for character development can be done through learning materials and sociology teachers because sociology itself is one of the subjects that discusses the material values and norms so that it helps in the development of students character at school.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of the field trip method in sociology learning in SMA Negeri 8 Kupang. This research is a quantitative method that is intended to find out whether there is an influence of the study tour method in schools using the formula p = f / nx100%. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPS 3 even semester 2019-2020 with a total of 29 students. Data collection techniques in this study using questionnaires and test results. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of learning using the field trip method in sociology subjects can influence student learning outcomes with a percentage of 87.24%. This result can also be known from the student learning outcomes with an average of 79.3 or with a percentage of completeness of 86.20%. This result has reached the KKM standard determined by the SMA Negeri 8 Kupang which is 70.

Abstract

The aims of the research are (1) to find out how the implementation of the educational policy of abandoned children at the Orphanage St. Louis De Monfort Kupang, (2) to understand how the impact of the educational policy to abandoned children at the Orphanage St. Louis De Monfort Kupang. The research used a qualitative method. The subject of the research was the Head of the St. Orphanage Louis De Monfort Kupang. The data of this research were collected through observation, interviews, notes, and documentation. The data were analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques, it consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research are the implementation of educational policies that include formal, informal and non-formal education at St. Orphanage Louis De Monfort Kupang has been implemented well in accordance with education guidelines. In the educational policy process for abandoned children, it found obstacles that are limited to education cost from the regional government. Nevertheless, educational policy has had a positive impact on the life of abandoned children. Through formal education, they can continue their education to a higher level. Formal education policy is carried out through educational institutions (schools) with good quality, which are spread in several areas at Kupang city. Informal education is carried out through three systems, they are kinship, role model and discipline to shape the character of children. While skills which are aspects of non-formal education are carried out through training, both from the orphanage itself and from collaboration with the Kupang City government.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country that is rich in unique and interesting cultures and traditions from various parts of the island of Sabang to Merauke which should be proud, preserved and preserved. One of them is the culture that comes from the Sasak tribe in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The Sasak tribe is one of the tribes in Indonesia who live on the island of Lombok using the Sasak language as its regional language. The Sasak tribe has one unique culture that is still practised by its people today, namely the Merariq culture. Merariq culture is one of a series of marriage processes by taking away the beloved bride. However, the merariq culture is considered inappropriate when viewed from Islamic law, which is the religion of the majority of the Sasak people. In Islam, marriage or marriage in terms of its meaning is to gather and unite. Marriage in Islam is an act that is legalized, has the value of worship and is confirmed in the holy book of the Al-Quran. This article aims to explain the contradiction of merariq culture from the perspective of Islamic law. This article uses a literature study research method. The results showed that in this merariq culture not all aspects violate Islamic law, including in merariq culture there is a procession of the marriage contract which is the legal reference for the bride and groom as a halal partner.

Abstract

The local script is one of the nation's cultural treasures. One of the local characters owned by the Indonesian people is the Satera Jontal script. Satera Jontal is a local script from Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara. This script is used to write and read the Sumbawa language which was spoken on the western part of the island of Sumbawa in the past. The purpose of this research is to increase student interest in learning Sumbawa script through interactive learning media. Research Methods This research uses a quantitative descriptive approach. Retrieval of data in this study was collected through a survey method by distributing questionnaires to elementary school (SD) children in grade VI (six). The survey was conducted to determine the interest in learning Sumbawa (Sumatran Jontal) characters through the use of interactive learning media. The results showed that students' interest in Sumbawa script was still very low. Therefore, efforts are made to increase student interest in learning Sumbawa script. These efforts must pay attention to the following: the interactive learning media used must be appropriate so that it makes it easier for students to learn Sumbawa script.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the structure of human life, including in the field of education. The government has established an online learning policy in an effort to suppress the spread of the virus. The application of online learning policies cannot be separated from various obstacles. One of them was experienced by a social studies teacher. This study aims to examine the obstacles to implementing online learning with the 2013 curriculum and the role of social studies teachers in overcoming them. The research method used is qualitative and implemented in MAN 2 Parepare, South Sulawesi. Data collection techniques are interviews and observation. To obtain the validity of the data, triangulation was carried out on methods, sources and theories. After that, the data were analyzed. This study found that the obstacles to the implementation of online learning with the 2013 curriculum were social inequality between students, limited online learning time, difficulty in assessing student learning processes and outcomes, and parents who did not accompany children in the learning process. The role of social studies teachers in overcoming these obstacles is to provide policies to students who have difficulty in learning online, use innovative learning methods, and try to establish communication with parents of students.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the cause of children drop out of school and to know parents’ efforts to cope with children dropping out of school in Duwanur Kecamatan Adonara Barat, Kabupaten Flores Timur, Nusa Tenggara Timur. This study used a qualitative method. The Subjects of this study were parents and children dropouts of school. The data collection technique used observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used data reduction, data display, and data verification. The results of this study indicate that the problems of children drop out of school in Duwanur were low economic, low interested, and low motivation to go to school.
