Abstract

The exploration of the meaning behind the Qur'anic text carried out by the mujtahids (mufasir) from the classical period to the present seems to continue to show its stretching. One of them is Imam Asy Sya'rāwī, a scholar who lived in the 20th century who tried to understand the Quran from the side of Sociological Education (al-Adab al-Ijtimā`ī). This paper will unravel one of his interpretations and discuss the meaning of serenity that comes from dhikr through the interpretation of the letter al-Ra`ād: 28. Imam Sya'rāwī said that the tranquility that arises because of dhikr is conditional. The first condition is to fully believe in the provisions (destiny) of Allah and the second condition is to have total trust in Him. By referring to the diversity of meanings of dhikr, Sheikh Sya'rāwī argues that dhikr in verse 28 of surah al-Ra`ād means the Qur'an because every verse that comes from the Qur'an calms the heart of the Prophet Muhammad. His peace of mind is getting stronger because it is supported by his strong faith. As a conclusion to the interpretation of verse 28 of Surah al-Ra`ād, Sheikh Sya'rāwī reveals the doubts that befell some orientalists who allege there is a contradiction between the substance of Surah al-Ra`ād: 28 and Surah al-Anfāl: 2 In Surah al-Ra`ād verse 28 it is said that dhikr has the effect of feeling calm and comfortable, while in Surah al-Anfāl verse 2 it is not so, dhikr actually causes fear. Faced with this accusation, Imam al-Sha'rāwī replied, that if the orientalists really understood the uslūb (composition) and the characteristics of the Arabic language, they would have known the difference between the two verses which they considered contradictory.

Abstract

Women naturally experience five biological experiences of women in the form of menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and breastfeeding. Reproductive function is often found with pain, exhaustion, and risk. Nur Rofi'ah is here to present an interpretation of the reproduction verse by looking at the reality of society, especially the reality experienced by women. This research method is a type of qualitative research in the form of library research and the sociology of knowledge approach. The method of collecting data is by digging directly from studies of the KGI (Islamic Gender Justice) Koran and related literature and presenting data from the medical and psychological side of the condition of women experiencing reproductive function. From the author's analysis, it is concluded that Nur Rofi'ah's interpretation is part of the paradigm of transformative interpretation of reproductive verses. His explanation of the word aża which means pain becomes a reconstruction of the meaning of the verse while in explaining the words wahnān'alā wahnin and kurhān, he reproduces the meaning of the verse on the previous interpretations by providing an explanation of the condition of women who are menstruating, pregnant, giving birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding. From a medical and psychological perspective, the interpretation is expected to be a change in the attitude of the environment, family, especially husbands to be more caring and sympathetic.

Abstract

The meaning of the word “fitna” in Indonesian is often incorrect when it is associated with the word of Allah written in QS. al-Baqarah: 191. The snippet of the verse is al-fitna asyaddu min al-qatl, which if translated reads more or less "slander is more cruel than murder". Misunderstanding can occur when the translation of a verse occurs partially and independently from the context of the verse in which it was derived. Apart from the partial translation problem, another factor is the distortion of the meaning of the word slander (fitna) in Indonesian and Arabic. Through the ma'na cum maghzā approach, the misunderstanding of the word fitna is then traced so that some basic meanings are known, namely al-ibtilā, al-ikhtibār, al-imtihān and al-ihrāq. The word slander in the context of QS. al-Baqarah: 191 is closer to the meaning of al-syirk (shirk) than to the meaning of fitna (slander) as understood in the Indonesian language, which is to convey false information to others. The reading of the verse through the ma'na cum maghzā approach then raises several main messages from this verse, namely the message of monotheism, maqāṣid al-syarī'ah and social ethics. These values synergize with each other to support preventive action against the fitna referred to by the verse.

Abstract

The process of interpreting the Qur'an is not only limited to the practice of understanding a text by a mufasir. More than that, a mufasir engages in a dialogue with existing traditions, culture and socio-politics. Likewise, studying interpretation in Indonesia, especially Java, also concerns the socio-political conditions of the writer, the audience space when the interpretation is written, the language used and the purpose of writing the interpretation are some important studies to be explored. In Java, there are quite a number of interpreters with the characters of their respective interpretations, one of which is the Tafsir Qoeran Djawen book. In this interpretation, it accommodates various local aspects such as script, narrative and communication in the practice of interpretation. Departing from this, the author raises the title ""Locality of the Book Tafsir Qoeran Djawen"". This study focuses on the locality contained in the Tafsir Qoeran Djawen. The results of this study, namely, the form of locality in this interpretation can be seen in its appearance and communication as described above. Namely the interpretation using the cacarakan script and krama inggil. Meanwhile, the locality aspect, in its interpretation, the author of the book Tafsir Qoeran Djawen interprets the verses of the Al-Qur'an by including local elements that exist in Javanese society, such as traditions and culture in society, events that intersect with society and others. Some examples of aspects of locality in the interpretation presented in the Tafsir Qoeran Djawen book, for example discussing the pilgrimage tradition, mentioning Javanese philosophy, criticizing the tahlilan tradition and others.

Abstract

This article tries to describe the M. Abdullah Darrāz’s toughts on i’jāz al-Qur`ān as basic of reading-cum-understanding on the Qur`ān. Initially, the discussion of i’jāz al-Qur`ān started from debate among the scholars about theological doctrines on the Qur`ān such as al-mu’āraḍah, at-taḥaddī, tark al-mu’āraḍah, and al-’ajz. But, Darrāz was able to discussed the discourse of i’jāz into domain of Qur`anic interpretation, and also Qur`anic reception in his work: an-Nabā` al-’Aẓīm: Naẓarāt Jadīdah fī al-Qur`ān. Through his work, Darrāz was able to formulated the principles of reading-cum-understanding on the Qur`ān are sourced from its i’jāz—which I term it with qirā`ah i’jāziyyah ’an al-Qur`ān—such as principle of coherence, intertextuality and stylistics of the Qur`ān.

Abstract

Some communities in civilization, especially Muslims, the Qur'an is considered a complete and perfect holy book. The Qur'an is a 'text' that transcends and transcends other 'texts' in history. The concept of text in Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd's study project on the Qur'an is quite significant in bringing him to unravel some aspects that have not been touched by other Qur'anic reviewers. For Nasr, studying the Qur'an as a text will lead to a scientific or objective interpretation. One of the hypotheses that says that the Qur'an is a cultural product (muntij al-tsaqăfi) is actually because the text of the Qur'an on the one hand appears as a dialectical process with Arab culture, and on the other hand creates a culture based on existing realities. By adopting the theory of meaning and significance of texts from ED, Hirsch, Nasr divides the categorization of three levels of meaning, namely the meaning that refers to historical facts that cannot be interpreted metaphorically, meaning that can be interpreted metaphorically, and the meaning of "significance" that can be revealed from the context. socio-cultural environment in which the text is located. Nasr also offers five meaning contexts that are closely related to the production of text meaning, including: socio-cultural context, external context (discourse), internal context (discourse content), linguistic context (narrative), and reading context (interpretation). From one of these contexts (namely the linguistic context) Nasr gave rise to new things in the world of text interpretation, namely al-maskut 'anhu (hidden meaning) behind the text.

Abstract

The study of classical book tahqiq is attached to the figure of a hadith scholar named Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah. This is because the research he has done has studied and commented on the works of classical scholars, who showed their attention to the treasures of past scholarship. In commenting on the studies researched him, the hadiths, interpretations, moral fiqh and others do not show his inclination towards the school that he holds. The scholarly figure of Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah in the field of hadith who adheres to the Imam Abu Hanifah school of thought does not make it necessary to quote all his tahqiq works from scholars of the Imam Abu Hanifah school of thought. As a behavior that maintains the scientific tradition of past scholars. However, there were times when Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah commented on the classical scholars' criticism of Imam Abu Hanifah's character in the field of hadith. This discussion is reviewed in several books that are tahqiq. This research is a qualitative research with a historical approach through descriptive analysis method
