Aqwal: Journal of Quranic and Hadith Studies is a peer-reviewed (double-blind), open-access journal published biannualiy (Juni and Desember) by Ilmu Al-Qur’an-Tafsir (IAT) and Hadith (ILHA)Program, Faculty Ushuluddin, Adab and Da’wah, K.H Abdurrahman Wahid State Islamic University Pekalongan since 2020. Aqwal invites students, scholars and researchers to contribute the result of their studies and researches. This Journal is aims to Quranic and Hadith studies which covers original research and literatur review with various focus of linguistic (semantic, semiotic, stilistic qiroaat, nadhom), philosophy (hermeneutic), local wisdom studies, environment, gender, and others. This journal, serving as a forum for the study of Quranic and Hadith in Asian and other parts of the world within its local and challenging global context, supports focused Hadith studies of particular theme and multidisciplinary studies. Al-Aqwal has become a medium of exchange of ideas and research findings from various traditions.

Abstract

This study examines the translation of the Quran by H. Zaini Dahlan edited by KH.Ahmad Bahauddin Noersalim, published by UII Press Yogyakarta 2020. Thisqualitative type of research uses a literature research design with a multidisciplinaryapproach; translation theory, language logic, language structure, and socio-linguisticspace. This study found six (6) main points: first, the problematic problem oftranslating the UII version of the Quran, second, meaningful translation, third, the useof language logic, fourth, the influence of Arabic syntax, fifth, the creation of space,character and reader hierarchy, and sixth, originality and local cultural wisdom.

Abstract

In the 20th century, Indonesia was faced with issues of right-wing extremism in thename of religion which affected the benefit of the people. Several acts of terror, thediscourse of the caliphate, returning to the sunnah, and dictation of takfiri havebecome the center of topics in our country, where the issue of "jihad" against religionand the state is often misinterpreted in a harsh and coercive way. Thus, throughanalyzing the contemporary interpretation of the Double Movement, the interpretationof the verse is more inclined towards more universal values, which are humanist,freedom (al-hurriyah), equality (al-musawwah) and justice (al-'adalah). So that itproduces some understanding that jihad is not just about war, but can be done invarious ways by looking at the contextuality of the times, as in the viewpoint of HabibLutfi, that defending the country and homeland as the term "jihad today" is one of thealternatives in silencing the understanding. “Conventional jihad” brought about byelements in destroying religion and the state, including strengthening knowledge ofhistory, increasing the achievement of the nation's children and understanding ofukhuwah wathaniyah which are interconnected to silence as a form of love for thehomeland and jihad for the advancement of religion and the state.

Abstract

Nationalism is an understanding to love one's own nation and state and jointly defendand perpetuate the identity, integrity, prosperity, and strength of the nation itself. Oneof the scholars who have a nationalist spirit is KH. Sholeh Darat. In this paper, wewill discuss the values of KH's nationalism. Sholeh Darat in the interpretation of FaidAl-Rahman. In this paper, the author uses a type of library research, namely one of theworks of Faid Al-Rahmäān's commentary. The result of this research is that there arethree values of KH's nationalism. Sholeh Darat in Faid Al-Rahman's interpretation,namely the value of love for the homeland, the value of unity and unity and the valueof pluralism.

Abstract

Starting from the Covid-19 virus outbreak that never went away, most of the partiesfelt suffering. Until it is natural that all groups really hope that this epidemic willdisappear soon. As was the excitement of the news circulating through the twitteraccount of one of the residents who argued that this covid-19 outbreak would endsoon when a star rose in the morning. This is based on information from the hadith ofthe Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in the history of Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal which states this. But inreality until now the Covid-19 outbreak is still there. The existence of this incident isfeared to raise suspicions among the public that not all the words of the prophet aretrue (lies). With this, the researcher focuses on two problem formulations. First, howis the quality of the sanad and matan of the hadith regarding the publication of theurayya star as a sign of the end of the plague, secondly, how is the content of thehadith. This study uses the takhrij wa dirāsah al-asanid method in the sanad, whilethe matan uses the Syarhu al-Had method. The approach used is historical with thetype of library research. The data collection methods used are takhrij, iʻtibar andSyarhu al-ḥadīṡ. The results of this study The Hadith about the rising of the urayyastar as a sign of the end of this plague is classified as asan Garib. If you look at thesanad, this hadith is classified as mutta'il. However, in terms of quality, this hadith isconsidered asan because there are narrators whose credibility does not meet therequirements of aḥīḥ hadith, namely Isl bin Sufyān al-Tamīmī al-Yarbūʻī, he isconsidered aʻīf. Because it only came from a friend of Ab Hurairah and then onlypivoted to Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, this hadith is considered garb and includesabsolute garb. While the matan is not aḥīḥ because it does not meet the criteria foraḥīḥ-matan. This deficiency is contrary to the arguments of the Qur'an and commonsense. The content of this hadith is an explanation or information of the Prophetregarding the time of the disappearance of pests which is marked by the rising of thestar (Ṡurayyā) in the morning. But what must be underlined is that the word al-ʻĀhatuhere is not the Covid-19 (corona) outbreak or the plague in general, but disputes anddisputes between people at that time regarding the sale and purchase of fruits thatwere defective or damaged because it was not yet timed. to be harvested. The Prophetthen forbade this activity and made the publication of the urayya star as a benchmarkfor the resumption of buying and selling. This is because when the Ṡurayya star rises,according to custom in the Hijaz lands, it is the beginning of the harvest season,which in the end makes the sale and purchase dispute averted (lost/raised).

Abstract

This article tries to discuss and explain how the rules of Amr and Nahy and the concept of Qarinahwork in understanding the Qur'an, specifically to obtain a law. This is motivated by the basic rules ofAmr and Nahy itself, where each principle basically shows an obligation and prohibition on a case, butthe law can change with the discovery of Qarinah. In this article Qarinah is explained as theproposition, where the arguments can be of various kinds, can be found in the text of the verse itself orother texts, or with the concept of ushul fiqh such as Istihsan, Istislah and Istishab. In this article aparticular case is raised to see how Amr-Nahy and the Qarinah concept work, the case is about the lawwearing the hijab in the interpretation of the Quraish Shihab, where in its interpretation it does notrequire the use of the hijab. This article shows how this interpretation is based on a particularQarinah, in this case closely related to the rules of Istihsan and Urf

Abstract

This article is an observation that the author made while in Banyuwangi.Banyuwangi, which historically was a city that used to be predominantly Hindu, hasnow turned into a predominantly Muslim and religious city. This study focuses onobserving the habit of reading the Koran in the community of one of the villages inBanyuwangi. Some observations were made in the month of Ramadan, and somewere carried out outside the month of Ramadan. Then in collecting data, the authorconducted interviews with one of the local Koran teachers and some of theobservations made by the authors when participating in some of these activities.From the results of research and observations made by the author, it turns out thatthere is an interesting side that displays the piety of the villagers. Among them, theapplication of the practice of the values of the Koran through the reading of theKoran in various forms and is considered the heart of worship. The various forms ofreading the Koran start from reading the Koran in the month of Ramadan combinedwith local cultural traditions, and several sima'an Koran assemblies that wereestablished collectively that have a unique and distinctive feel.

Abstract

Tafsir Jalalain is one of the most widely studied commentaries in Indonesia. Thiscommentary was written by two commentators, namely Jalaluddin al-Mahalli andJalaluddin as-Suyuthi. Both are adherents of the Ash'ariyah school of thought interms of theological thinking. So that in interpreting the verses related to faith, bothtend to follow what is taught by the Asy'ariyah school. This can be seen in severalverses relating to the main discussion in the Asy'ariyah teachings as well as in themutasayabihat verses, the verses about seeing Allah, the verses about the position ofpeople who commit major sins and other verses related to them. In these verses,these two commentators provide explanations that are not much different from whatis taught by the Asy'ariyah school. Of course with a concise and global explanation.
