Abstract

Phaedonia inclusa Stall pest attack is an important issue in mung bean production because of its potentialdamages resulted. Application of botanical insecticide in pest management was widely known as a rightchoice in terms of its less harmful effect to environment and human compare to synthetic insecticide. Theaims of this research were to explore the nature and effective concentration of botanical insecticide tocombat Phaedonia inclusa pest on mung bean. The research was done by using factorial experimentarranged into completely block designs with two factors namely factor A (kind of botanical insecticide)and factor B (concentration of botanical insecticide). The results showed that a mixture of 25 g of Aeglemarmelos Corr fruit extraction in 100 ml water was found more effective to control Phaedonia inclusapest on mung bean in comparison to Datura metel leaf and Piper betle leaf mixture.

Abstract

The disease of cocoa fruit rot almost infecting all cocoa planting areas in Indonesia. The research aims to determine the disease incidence of fruit rot and its attack onthe cocoa crop in Karlutu village, North West Seram District. The research used acompletely random design block and repeated 3 times. Observations wereperformed on the people's cocoa crop in the village of Karlutu and taken 10 trees assamples for each replay. Subsequent fruit samples were carried to the laboratory andisolated using pin-set into petri-dish containing PDA media, then incubated for 48hours at a room temperature of 25-27 °c. The results of the study obtained theaverage highest disease incidence of cocoa fruit rot disease of 54% and the lowest(33%) in the village of Karlutu. Besides, the condition of cocoa farmer plantationthat is poorly maintained by local farmers causes the high damage caused by thisdisease. Thus, required strengthening local farmer knowledge about optimalcultivation of cocoa by implementing an effective strategy of integrated controlplant disease with an environmentally friendly approach.

Abstract

Broilers, are superior breeds from crosses from type of chicken that have high productivity, especiallyin producing meat. The rapid growth rate in broilers is always influenced by the intake of a lot of feedconsumption. This is a problem for farmers who want broilers to consume low feed but the carcassweight increases, because almost 70% of production costs are determined by the cost of feed. Thepurpose of this study was to analyze the influence of addition rice bran in broiler feed on its performance. This study used a Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments namely P0 (commercial feedwithout the addition of rice bran); P1 (commercial feed + 10% rice bran); P2 (commercial feed + ricebran 20%) and P3 (commercial feed + rice bran 30%), each treatment have 5 replications. The variablesobserved were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, carcass weight and carcasspercentage. The results showed that the addition of rice bran in each treatment (P1, P2 and P3) was notsignificantly different (P> 0.05) with treatment without the addition of rice bran (P0). The results of thisstudy concluded that the ration of broiler chicken feed can be supplemented with rice bran up to 30%.

Abstract

Field research and laboratory analysis results were obtained on the parameters that experienced a changein the morphology and physical properties of soil including the soil color at each site. It had beenobserved that the color looked brown due to the organic materials associated with Fe, yellow due to ironoxide compounds such as hydroxide Fe2O3.H2O (hydroxide iron) and red was caused by soil parentmaterial. We examined state structure and consistency. The soil structure of the three lands use was arounded cube and consistency ranged from slightly sticky to sticky, wet. Soil water content at each studysite varied according to land use and density of land cover (canopy). The values generated by a heavyvolume of soil in each land use were different. The values produced different soil porosity. This wasrelated to several soil properties, including the type and number of plants, roots, and organic mattercontent.

Abstract

The research aimed to investigate the motivation of cattle herders in Moa District, Southwest Maluku Regency. Three villages, namely Tounwawan, Klis, and Werwaru, and thirty respondents were selected using the purposive sampling method based on population and cattle ownership. The results showed that the overall economic motive was the strongest (99.6%) compared to social motive (98.58%) and entertainment motive (95.06%). Motivation levels ranging from middle (80,6% of respondents) to high (19,4% of respondents). The regression test R square = 0.099 with regression equation Y= 3.629 + 0.003 XI + 0.018X2 -0.016X3 + 0.002X4 + 0.006X5. It was concluded that the cattle herders were pushed dominantly by economic motives than social and entertainment motives. Age, education, dependency, experience, and cattle ownership have no significant effect on the motivation of the cattle herders.

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa. Linn) is a staple food source for most of the population in the region of Asia, including Indonesia. The research aimed to determine the level of Blast disease attack (Pyricularia oryzae/P. oryzae Cav) to Rice var. Inpari Sidenuk in Waimital village, Kairatu sub-district. This study was held from March to August 2018 against 30 rice groves. Observations were conducted to check the symptoms of the Blast disease and the severity of the disease in the field and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the average severity of high blast disease was 88.67%. Besides, climate factors determine the high level of damage to this disease on the farm, so it is necessary to look for alternative environmentally friendly and sustainable disease control techniques.

Abstract

Clove is an important plant that increases the income of the people in Maluku province. This research aimed to understand the forms of weed in the clove planting area. Weed landscape analysis and the square method have been used in the technique. The results showed 21 types of weeds in Band I, consisting of 10 kinds of large leaves, seven types of grass, and four types of ferns. Then, ten types of broadleaves, five types of grass, and three fern types were composed of 18 kinds of in-band II weeds. The study found 15 types of herbs in band III, consisting of 6 types of broadleaves, seven types of grass, and two fern types. Next, in-band IV, 12 kinds of weed consisted of 5 kinds of large leaves, six kinds of grass, and one kind of fern. In-band V, the research results showed nine types of large leaves, six types of grasses, and three types of ferns comprised 18 types of herb. Finally, 13 types of weeds, consisting of five types of large leaves, six types of grass, and two types of ferns, were found in band VI. Broadleaves distribution, i.e., Stachirtapheta indica, Melastoma affine, and Hyptis rhombodea. The key weeds dominating the clove regions are large grasses (Axonopus compressus, Digitaria nuda, Mimmosa pudica, Pueraria triloba, Centrosema pubescens), and the last was ferns (Cyclosorus aridus, Nephrolepis exaltata).
