Abstract

Maju Mekar as a farmers group has productivity. it was only reach 0,01 ton/ha, which indicate risks. The objectives of this research were to identify the causes of risk and how much the risk of coffee farming affect Maju Mekar farmer group. The research used descriptive qualitative and case study research method. Risk causes identification in Maju Mekar farmer group used fish bone diagram by detailing what causes the failure. Risk analysis using FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) method to obtain a risk based on the highest value of the RPN (Risk Priority Number) and RSV (Risk Score Value) which has to betaken care of immediately. The research result was 12 priority handling risk of coffee farming in Maju Mekar farmer group. Maju Mekar farmer group has been preveting 4 priority risk sources. An alternative strategy that can be done for the 6 priority risks are to by recording the production and cash flow, raw materials (cherries) received, using a pre order payment system for a limited source of capital risk, cultivation of horticultural crops for lack of persistence of farmers, fertilizers not in accordance with SOP, cooperating with other farmer groups to increase production, cultivation of coffee crops according to SOP for less altitude.

Abstract

Corporate farming is a farmland merger activity that is organized together by farmers in an integrated single management. This system could be a solution for many problems facedby farmerstoday, such asbusiness efficiency, quality standardization, and effectivenessas well as input use efficiency.Gerbang Emas Agricultural Cooperative is a farmer’s business organization focusing on the production and marketing of horticultural crops. The cooperative has implemented the collective marketing since 2014, but the production is carried out individually by the farmers. Low level of productivity is the problem the cooperative faced. The farming activities that are currently done by the farmers would be more efficient if managed by implementing the corporate farming system. The purpose of this study is to analyze the prospect for the implementation of corporate farming system and also to determine the factors affecting the likelihood of success or failure in the system implementation at Gerbang Emas Agricultural Cooperative. The research method used is the descriptive method, analyzing the prospect from three perspectives (economic, institutional, and social). The result shows that the corporate farming system has a good prospect to be implemented on the cooperative, viewed from all perspectives. In addition, this study also obtained several factors that affect the likelihood of success or failure in the implementation of the system on the cooperative namely: 1)Integration of corporate farming development with local economic development,2)Availability of capable institutions (government / non-government) of functioning as a facilitator, 3)Emotional and cultural ties between the farmer and his land, 4)Differenceperceptions among farmers, 5)Deferentin the development of agribusiness system.

Abstract

Guava Crystal variety currently has the high opportunity and potential to be developed in Indonesia. Waaida Farm as a company engaged in crystal guava farming in  Sumedang District can only meet 5,71% of its demand every year. Therefore, Waaida Farm needs to expand the cultivation area to optimize the crystal guava potential. The expansion is constrained by lack of capital. Crystal guava farming in Waaida Farm is not bankable yet eventhough the business has run for six years. The objective of this research is to analyze financial feasibility of crystal guava farming at Waaida Farm. The research was conducted using qualitative descriptive design and case study technique. The data collection methods usedwere observation, interview and study literature. From the  financial aspect, crystal guava farming at Waaida Farm is feasible to be implemented, based on the investment criteria using interest rate of 18,75%. The NPV is Rp 5.982.165, IRR is over the established interest rate of 28,43%, Net B/C is 1,59, and payback period is 5 years, shorter than the project term analysis of 10 years. The sensitivity analysis showed that decreasing inproduction is more sensitive than increasing inproduction cost. Nevertheless, the 10 percentchange of every variable still make the crystal guava farming feasible.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was analyzing the impact of the existence of infrastructures such as construction, electrical, highway (state, province and regency city road ), Transport and Telecommunication sectors on the production and areal expansion of oil palm plantations in both South Sumatera and Bengkulu.         This research was expected to be useful as a scientific empirical guidance for policymakers in determining the infrastructure priority scale which is built based on their contribution to increasing oil palm production and its area.         The research empirically identified how the impact of the existence of infrastructure (construction, electricity, highways (state, province, and city districts road), transport and telecommunication on the oil palm’s production and erea, in both its magnitude and sign. In the regression equation which used in this study, production and land area are positioned as dependent variable whereas development variables of construction, electricity, highway (state road, province and regency/city road), transport and telecommunications are positioned as the independent variable. This research used time-series data from BPS publications with quarterly periods from 1996 to 2012.            Referring to the parameter of the elasticity value of infrastructure to oil palm production which showed greater than 1, then it can be concluded that the priority infrastructure which built in Bengkulu is the construction and for South Sumatra should be built electricity infrastructure to boost the oil palm production increasing. Meanwhile, electricity infrastructure that should be built for boosting the expansion of oil palm in Bengkulu is Electricity. There was relatively no priority infrastructure in terms of spurring the expansion of palm oil.

Abstract

This research is aimed at examining the best forecasting model for riceprice at wholesaler price. Monthly data of ricefrom 2010:1 –2017:12 are used for this research and three trend model, i.e.,MA, Decomposition and Single Exponential Smoothing are applied in which the selection of the best model is based on the lowest value of MAPE, MAD, and MSE or MSD. This research finds that the best forecasting model is MA(2).
