Java is a cultural center that is quite influential in the Southeast Asian Region. Since centuries ago, Java has always been the center of attention of products of high cultural knowledge and knowledge. The specific purpose of this research is to develop at an early stage the Java methodology. This research is very strategic to do because the data shows that research on the subject of Javanese culture always shows results that are not optimal. On the other hand, the use of Western methodologies is not able to reach the core Javanese values so that Java only be seen from the outer structure. This study seeks to compile the initial stages of the formulation of the Javanese methodology by collecting data from various Javanese sources, including from the informant, written sources, textbooks, Javanese ancient manuscripts, and various existing traditional ceremonies. The results show that (1) Java has a different conception of truth that has an impact on its methodological implications, (2) the Javanese methodology has a different paradigm, (3) the Javanese methodology is authentic in the attitudes, behavior, and ways of the Javanese people in carrying out their cultural life. Keywords: Methodology; Java; research; culture.

Abstract

In the story of the ludruk play which is legendary in Java-Indonesia, Sarip Tambak Oso is chased and captured by the invaders. He is claimed to be a criminal who is very humiliated. However, the Javanese people immortalized him as a public figure with character because of his concern and courage in defending the rights of the poor who were wronged by the colonial government. This research has a qualitative approach with a case study type. The main problem is, how is the multi-character of Sarip Tambak Oso's play dehumanized by the colonialists? For this reason, the data source is in the form of documents, both printed (published manuscripts) and electronic (ludruk performances with the play Sarip Tambak Oso). The research data is in the form of language (expressions, words, phrases, sentences) in the story. Next, verbal data is described qualitatively. The results showed that Sarip Tambak Oso had the characters of (1) caring, (2) devotion, (3) nationalism, and (4) religious, and (5) fair. In conclusion, the five characters are necessary when dealing with colonial era invaders. In fact, now, its fluctuating actualization needs to be considered as thoroughly as possible in the millennial era. This is necessary because the dehumanization of the multi-characteristics of public figures is not a natural characteristic of the Javanese nation in the world, except when fighting for national independence, as exemplified by Sarip Tambak Oso in East Java, Indonesia. Keywords: dehumanization, characters, Sarip Tambak Oso, imperialism, ludruk plays, Javanese oral literature

Abstract

The batik patterns that are known to be fractal are the reality that there are alternative perspectives that exist among Indonesian society and civilization which are unique relative to the general modern perspective. This uniqueness is important considering that fractals are a form of understanding geometry and system complexity. Pseudo-algorithm in batik is an ornamentation process: klowongan-isenharmonization which starts from the smallest fractional elements of batik motifs (fractals), has selfsimilarity and is carried out through iterative computational methods. Batik as a patterned aesthetic object has pseudo-algorithmic depiction rules that can be treated as a generative art form. Batik that can be developed as fractal batik is batik with geometric motifs. Fractals have initiated a change and presented scientific creativity and progressivity in several fields in the form of interdisciplinary. All computational patterns growth to find fractal character in batik can turn into the sources of creativity to create new motifs. Keywords: Javanese batik, ornamentation, Aesthetic, pseudo algorithm
