Abstract

Endocrine disorders are a scientific group of conditions that affect the day-to-day functioning of the endocrine system, which is responsible for producing and regulating hormones in the body. Many endocrine problems can lead to the development of diabetes, a metabolic disorder characterized by persistently high blood sugar levels. Excess cortisol can cause insulin resistance, which causes an increase in blood sugar levels, and eventually leads to diabetes. Another disease is acromegaly which is caused by an overproduction of increased hormones. An extended hormone boom stage can lead to insulin resistance in the long term, contributing to an increase in diabetes. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disease commonly associated with insulin resistance and diabetes. PCOS is characterized by an imbalance of hormones, especially androgens. This imbalance can impair insulin signaling, especially insulin resistance, and the subsequent development of diabetes. Hypothyroidism, which is characterized by low thyroid hormone levels, can lead to insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion. In contrast, hyperthyroidism, which is characterized by overproduction of thyroid hormone, can increase glucose metabolism and lead to diabetes in susceptible individuals. In addition, tumors of the endocrine system, including insulinomas and glucagonomas, can cause atypical insulin production and release, leading to hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, respectively.

Abstract

Insulin is a potent anabolic hormone, and its absence induces a profound catabolic state that affects fat, carbohydrates, and protein stores. Absolute insulin deficiency, such as that characterized by type 1 diabetes (T1DM), results in death if left untreated. The study of patients with diabetes in the pre-insulin era teaches us the surprisingly long period that can survive without insulin. Leonard Thompson was the first patient to have an effective insulin treatment. He was 12 years old when he was diagnosed with diabetes in 1919 and had survived for over 2 years at 11 am on January 22, 1922; he received his first injection of insulin. This indicated that it was miserable without insulin. In addition to weight loss, constant tiredness, thirst, urination, and frequent infections, their waste was the e certain knowledge that a death sentence had been passed and that death would be an agonizing and slow process. The most effective therapy available at that time appeared to be a severe nutritional restriction, perhaps most popularly expounded by Allen [1] from the Rockefeller Institute in New York. However, this was a difficult regimen that did not appear to significantly prolong life expectancy when death occurred. It is not clear whether this was the result of diabetes or starvation.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning can have a close relationship. AI is a discipline that focuses on developing systems that can perform tasks that require human intelligence, where Machine Learning is one of the main branches of AI that deals with the development of algorithms and statistical models to analyze network data in real-time, identify patterns and behaviors and take appropriate actions, thereby strengthening the detection of security threats in the network through network traffic data analysis, ML algorithms can learn from normal traffic patterns and identify suspicious behavior in analyzing traffic data, ML algorithms can learn normal traffic patterns from users, devices, or applications. The anomaly detection method uses a different approach by training the model to recognize the usual patterns in the data and identifying data that differs from those patterns as anomalies. The purpose of this research is to improve security threat detection, analyze network performance efficiently, identify unusual behavior patterns and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of network monitoring with the results obtained are increased detection of security threats, more accurate identification of anomalies, recognition of new attack patterns, real-time network performance monitoring and reduction in the number of false positives.

Abstract

Flooding is a crucial concern for creating substantial economic and social impacts for different regions of Bangladesh. The country's geographical location makes most of the area highly vulnerable to floods. Despite people's suffering during flood conditions, comprehensive research on developing an automotive flood intimation system is inadequate. Flooding is the inundation of water onto land that is normally dry, followed by rain, snow, coastal storms, storm surges, overflows of rivers, and dam failure. Early detection of rising water levels may reduce the damaging impact of floods and also allow adequate time to develop integrated flood adaptation and management mechanisms. Therefore, this study proposed an automated flood intimation system using Arduino. The system integrates the feature of determining three distinct parameters involving temperature, humidity, water level, and wind speed. The design emphasized the early detection of rising water levels and provided the necessary acknowledgement to reduce the impact of floods.  Post-flood effects involve water pollution, water-borne diseases, and other epidemics in flood-affected communities. Hence, the proposed system might be helpful for proper support management during natural calamities like floods to reduce the suffering of people.

Abstract

Rising energy demand has led to progressive increase in the cost of fossil fuel globally. The exploration and exploitation of fossil fuel has led to depletion of oil reserves, moreover these fossil fuels are not only expensive but also has severe environmental consequences. Renewable and sustainable energy resources gained greater importance in the current situation to supplement and minimize the environmental pollution load and to compensate the energy demand worldwide. Biodiesel can be produced from myriad sources such as waste or virgin oil, algae, and animal fats. Optimization of process variables to produce biodiesel proves to be economic and effective way of producing biodiesel. In this study RSM based optimization was carried out using five-level, four-factorial central composite design in thirty (30) runs. Design expert version 6.0 was used for the study. The four processing variables under study are A: catalyst concentration, B: methanol to oil molar ratio, C: reaction time and D: temperature. The optimum conditions for maximum biodiesel (88.40%) was; methanol to oil molar ratio (9.07:1), reaction time (70.59min), reaction temperature (53.090C), and amount of catalyst (0.88). The regression equation obtained for the model having a coefficient of correlation (R2), and adjusted coefficient of correlation (R2adj) are “Pred R-Squared" of 0.927 is in reasonable agreement with the "Adj R-Squared" of 0.911. "Adeq Precision" measures the signal to noise ratio.  A ratio greater than 4 is desirable. Ratio of 13.200 reported for this work indicates an adequate signal.

Abstract

This research use time series analysis to examine Nigeria's economic dynamics, concentrating on the link between Real Gross Domestic Product (RGDP), Inflation (IFR), Interest (INT), and Crude Oil Price. The information covers the years 2006 to 2022 and gives insights into how the country has changed over time. The results show a positive trend in RGDP, indicating economic expansion. Inflation rates vary, suggesting the presence of both inflationary and deflationary influences. Interest rates are constant, while crude oil prices are volatile, affecting Nigeria's oil-dependent economy. A somewhat positive association between Crude Oil Price and independent variables is revealed using regression analysis. The statistical significance of the independent variables, on the other hand, is only slightly supported. The ANOVA table validates the regression model's overall significance, indicating an influential independent variable. The influence of independent factors on the dependent variable is demonstrated by coefficients, but their significance falls short of traditional values. The correlation matrix reveals an inverse link between RGDP and output/crude oil exports. There are weak positive connections between RGDP and inflation, as well as crude oil prices and inflation. Interest rates and crude oil exports do not have a strong relationship with crude oil prices. These findings helped to comprehend Nigeria's economic dynamics and illustrate the complexities of varied interactions. To go deeper into certain hypotheses, more study is required. The study emphasizes the significance of understanding the impact of oil price changes on the Nigerian economy in order to drive appropriate policy responses and the necessity for economic diversification.
