Abstract

Biological, psychological, social, and spiritual impacts of cancer can cause the emergence of negative emotions and affect patient's self-acceptance. Forgiveness therapy is expected to enhance patient's acceptance by releasing them from the negative emotional prison, changing attitudes toward self, others, and/or the situation become more positive, and setting new life goals. This study examined the effect of forgiveness therapy to increase forgiveness and self-acceptance of breast cancer patients. Therapy was given as much as 6 sessions, conducted once a week, for about 80 minutes. Participant was a women who had a breast cancer, had an average score of forgiveness and self-acceptance on the baseline phase measurement. Research design wasA-B-A single-case experimental studies with 3 times forgiveness's measurement, each before intervention, after intervention, and follow-up 2 weeks after intervention. Self-acceptance's measurement was conducted 10 times, 3 times in the baseline phase (before intervention), 6 times in the intervention phase (end of each session), 1 time in reversal phase (follow-up 2 weeks after intervention), with 1 week measurement interval. Hypothesis was tested by using visual inspection and qualitative analysis based on documents during the process of therapy and follow-up interview. The results showed that forgiveness therapy could improve participant's forgiveness and self-acceptance. Changes in both dependent variable remained stable at follow-up. Abstract

Strategic hope-focused marital enrichment is on brief marital enrichment program with an eclectic approach that focused on increasing love, faith and the importance of working together as a couple to motivate couple in increasing their relationship's quality (Jakubowski, Milne, Brunner, and Miller,2004). The program improved marital relationship, communication, maritalsatisfaction(Worthington Jr., Hight, Ripley, etal, 1997) and overall quality of life (Buchard, Yarhouse, Killian, Worthington Jr., 2003). Rumondor (2010) had adopted the program on newlywed-couples that experienced dating before. This research is to test the effetivity of the program to three ta'aruf-married couples in their beginning phase of marriage. The participants attended four sessions for about a month. The quality of marital adjustment is measured by Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS), developed by Spanier (1976). The average total score of DAS in three couples showed an increasing on marital adjustment quality at the end of the program. The program increases dyadic consensus, dyadic satisfaction and affectionai expression meanwhile does not show any difference on dyadic cohesion.Keywords: Marital enrichment, marital adjustment, beginning phase of marriage, ta'aruf

Abstract

The study aimed to explore the influence of a Support Group (SG) to the psychological well being of HIV/AIDS patients in Blitar. The study employed the ex-post-facto method using static group comparison approach. There were 20 people with HIV/AIDS participate in the study, consisted of 10 patients who joined SG for at least six months and those who did not join. The data was collected using the 42 items Psychological Well Being Scale. The independent sample t-test resulted that there was a significant difference between those two groups indicated by t - 2.250 (p < 0.05). it can be concluded from the result that participation of HIV/AIDS patients to a Support Group gave impact to their psychological well being. The process of Support Group in giving rise to the psychological well being was discussed. Keywords: Support Group, Psychological Well Being, HIV/AIDS

Abstract

Depression as the cause of disability has been increasing overtime. It is urgent to find out a form of therapy that accommodates clients faith to enhance the effectiveness of non-religious therapy. The research aims at determining whether Cognitive-Behavioral Religious Therapy (CBRT) was effective to decrease the symptoms of depression. The subject were two women who meet the criteria of moderate and severe depression on Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Single subject design with ABA design was applied. The visual analysis and clinical significance by practical wisdom were used to see the effectiveness of CBRT. It was concluded that Cognitive-Behavioral Religious Therapy was effective to decrease the symptoms of depression.Key words: Cognitive-Behavioral Religious Therapy (CBRT), depression, faith, Islam.

Abstract

Drug abuser has emotional instability such as anxiety, anger, sadness, shame, and confusedness. Psychological skill training was aimed at increasing drug abuser's emotional stability. The participants were 14 drug abusers divided non randomly into 2 groups, experiment and control groups. This training was held in 6 sessions and the duration for each session is approximately 2 to 3,5 hours. The design of this research used pre test and post test control group design. The emotional stability was measured by emotional stability scale. Data analysis used statistic non parametric test, Mann Whitney. The result shows that there's gained score difference between pre test and post test experiment and control groups, with z value z=-2,179 andp=0,0291 (p<0,05). Thus, psychological training proved can increase emotional stability for drug abusers. Key word: Psychological skill, emotional stability, drug abusers

Abstract

This study aimed to determine if whether the parent management training can improve social skills in children experienced oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). Subjects in the study one child, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), male gender, age 7 years, currently sit in second grade elementary school. The data was collected using the method of observation with anecdotal records and behavioral checklists and semi-structured interviews. The study design used was a single case experimental design with AB-follow up design. Analysis of the data used is a qualitative analysis with the analysis of behavioral approaches RAC-S (Response, Antecendents, Consequences, Response-Strength), and analysis visual inspection. The results of parent management training can improve social skills of child who has oppositional defiant disorder, primarily on behavioral aspect of academic success in school.Keywords: Social Skills, Parent Management Training, Oppositional Defiant Disorder
