Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the students’ mathematical communication skills in the set material. In doing math problems, there are still many students who make mistakes in solving the questions given by the teacher. Students' difficulty in answering questions, one of which is influenced by mathematical communication skills. The method used is descriptive qualitative, which is analyzed from the instrument in the form of 5 written test questions in the form of description questions. The subjects studied were 22 students. This research was conducted on Thursday, October 21st 2021, at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Al Muhajrin Tapung, 2021/2022, totalling 13 female and nine male students. In this study, there are three indicators used, namely 1) mathematical expressions, which are everyday events that are expressed in mathematical concepts and mathematical symbols, 2) drawing, which is mathematical ideas that can be expressed in terms of mathematical concepts. In the form of pictures, and 3) writing (written text) that can show and explain everyday events into mathematical models and mathematical language. From the results of mathematical communication skills based on gender with these three indicators, female students have higher mathematical communication skills than male students. The average percentage for female students is 70.8%, and the percentage of male students is 52.75%. The results of the conversion of scores in the very low category for male students and medium category for female students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the analysis of students' conceptual and procedural knowledge in solving mathematical problems. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were three grade VIII students in a junior high school in Jambi City, who had high, medium, and low math skills. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. The instrument in this study was the researcher himself and was assisted by other instruments, namely a conceptual-procedural knowledge test and interview guidelines. The results showed that high students had high conceptual and procedural abilities (meets all conceptual and procedural knowledge in solving problems), moderate students had moderate conceptual and procedural abilities (only met two indicators of conceptual knowledge and two indicators of procedural knowledge in solving problems). ), low students have low conceptual and procedural abilities (only fulfill one indicator of conceptual knowledge and do not meet any indicator of procedural knowledge in solving problems).

Abstract

This research is research on developing learning tools and applying Realistic Mathematics Learning (PMR) with the material Function. In the initial research, it appears that the teacher is still not maximally teaching according to the syntax or PMR steps. This is because the teacher does not understand the PMR learning tools that the teacher has just obtained, but the teacher has understood them in the next meeting. Students/students also have problems understanding the syntax of learning steps. This apparent difficulty is because students also get a different learning approach than usual. It is also seen that students have difficulty expressing their ability to read pictures or read problems. The researcher applies a modified four-dimensional model Thiagarajan, Semmel, and Semmel to produce relevant teaching materials. The teaching materials obtained consisted of (1) lesson plans, (2) teacher guidelines, (3) student books, (4) student activity sheets, and (5) learning outcomes tests. The experiment results found that the realistic mathematical approach was effective in functional learning in class VIII students of SMPN 1 Sungai Lala, Riau Province.

Abstract

The Covid-19 outbreak that hit Indonesia required teachers to carry out online learning while still prioritizing the quality of education. This study aims to describe the readiness of Mathematics teachers to implement the 2013 curriculum in online learning to create quality learning. This readiness consists of several indicators, namely (1) understanding of the structure and material of the 2013 curriculum mathematics, (2) readiness to use teachers' mathematics books, (3) readiness to use students' mathematics books, (4) readiness to plan mathematics learning, (5) management readiness mathematics learning, (6) the readiness of the mathematics learning process, (7) the readiness of the assessment process. The data collection technique used a questionnaire. The research subjects were all high school mathematics teachers in Tualang District. The data analysis technique used descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the readiness of mathematics teachers at Se- Spectacular Tualang High School to implement the 2013 curriculum in online learning was in the "very unprepared" category of 10% (2 teachers), 25% "unprepared" category (5 teachers), "ready enough" category by 15% (3 teachers), the "ready" category by 40% (8 teachers), and the "very ready" category by 10% (2 teachers). Curriculum 2013 on online learning is included in the "ready" category.

Abstract

Mathematics has an important role in other branches of science such as physics, chemistry, economics, and others. Through mathematics, students are trained to have a mathematical understanding which will be the basis for creating problem-solving abilities. Although online learning is also balanced with many accesses to get additional deepening of material through internet media, in reality, students cannot digest all the knowledge provided through the internet media. From the difficulty of understanding this learning, the impact is that students have difficulty developing mathematical understanding abilities, which affects student learning outcomes. There is a need to increase the ability of mathematical understanding. The purpose of this study is to describe the students' mathematical understanding ability on Trigonometry material with indicators that will be described are indicators of instrumental understanding and relational indicators. Furthermore, it will be seen which indicators the most problems experienced by students. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The data was obtained from the test answers of class XI students in description questions. From the results of data analysis, it was concluded that students had low abilities in relational understanding indicators.

Abstract

The research conducted aims to examine the ability in mathematical connections possessed by Junior High School Class VII students through integer material. The instrument in this study was in the form of a test of mathematical connection ability with as many as six essay questions. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method of technical data analysis. The results of the study obtained that the test results score from mathematical connection ability are three students with the high ability with a percentage of 15%, there are 13 students with medium category with a percentage of 65%, and there are four students with the low ability with a percentage of 20%.
