Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of the Javanese people in the Paguyaman Region of Gorontalo Province towards the transmigration policy during the Soeharto era. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out using interview techniques and field observations. The results of the research show that the people were disappointed with several things regarding the transmigration program, especially regarding the government's promises at that time, which were not fully realized. There were several problems at the destination location that contributed to the transmigrant community's dissatisfaction with the program, including the government's promise that the location where the transmigrants would live was ready to be occupied and agricultural land was also ready to be worked on, but in reality, the location of the placement transmigrants is still the wilderness, and the promised agricultural land still had to be cleared of weeds. The transmigrant community felt that what the government had promised during socialization was still far from the community's expectations when they saw the placement locations first hand.

Abstract

To increase the status and role of women economically, empowering women helps them become independent women and maximize their potential. Women's health, knowledge, and abilities will increase with the existence of women's empowerment programs. For women farmers, especially in rural areas, women farmer groups are a place to gather and respect women. However, there is a possibility that it is not ideal that the women of Juriya Village have a group of women farmers. They lack independence and are usually passive in society, as can be seen from their actions. The data needed for this study were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The goal is to make the problem clear. Based on the results of research conducted to empower women in agricultural business groups in Juriya Village, Bilato District, Gorontalo Regency. It was concluded that: First, community participation, especially women who are members of the empowerment program, is very good. It can be seen how enthusiastic they are in participating in the activities that have been given. Second, the participation and motivation of good members does not determine the success of an empowerment program activity. This is due to several inhibiting factors including: Internal problems between members and the treasurer, lack of training for women farming groups, and lack of business permits, this has an effect on product marketing.

Abstract

The inclusion of modern agricultural machinery, combine harvesters, in a village can have two social impacts: (1) the loss of a culture of mutual cooperation with a system of reciprocity between landowners and farm workers, and (2) a large loss of employment opportunities for farm workers in managing agricultural land in their villages. This can certainly make the social balance in the village disturbed, even so in Permata Village this balance is maintained. This social balance was researched using Vilfredo Pareto's individual action analysis framework and using qualitative approaches and case study methods. Social facts are moulders of individual actions, and rational actions exist only within economic facts, so a number of problems that are not resolved by economic means require consideration of irrational factors. The informant's statements regarding the actions they performed were analyzed to be categorized as irrational, which was then discussed with the concept of residue and derivation from Pareto. This study succeeded in explaining that there are four main factors of irrational actions that maintain social balance in the village, these four factors are reduced to coincidence factors and factors of systematic and appropriate interpretation and way of responding by the village government elite.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how Batak community solidarity forms in Gorontalo City. The existence of the Batak tribe is widespread in every area of Gorontalo City. Batak tribes come to Gorontalo with different purposes, one of which is to try their luck. Even though the Batak tribe lives separately, they always have moments to gather. The Batak ethnic community in Gorontalo is known as Saroha and Batagor Marsada. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive approach. While data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation, The results of the study show that the form of solidarity possessed by two (two) communities from the Batak tribe who are overseas in Gorontalo City is a form of mechanical solidarity. This can be seen clearly with the members of the Saroha and Batagor Marsada communities, where they still carry out and preserve the values, norms, and traditional activities of their ancestral traditions. When they know that they are one ethnicity, then they lower their feelings of individuality and their sense of ego within themselves. They prefer to help each other among Batak ethnic groups, and what forms the solidarity of the two Batak ethnic communities in Tuladenggi Village, Dungingi District, and Gorontalo City is the spirit of regionalism and primordialism. Second, feelings of kinship and empathy Third, togetherness. Fourth, expand the network.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how the conflict that occurred between the community and the company, PT. Tri Jaya Tangguh, occurred in Motoduto Village, Boliyohuto District, Gorontalo Regency. The problem faced is community and company conflict, which was triggered by environmental pollution due to industrial wastewater that was channeled directly into the river and flowed into neighboring villages. The liquid waste discharged into the river creates a pungent smell; the color is brownish, and the odor from the waste disturbs the community around the company. The method used in this study is a qualitative method using a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results showed that the conflict that occurred between the community and the company was triggered by environmental pollution due to industrial wastewater that was channeled into the river and created a pungent, brown odor. The smell from the sewage disturbs community activities in the study location. Besides that, a conflict resolution plan has been designed in which the company provides compensation in the form of an amount of money to the community; however, this compensation is considered by the community to have not been able to resolve the problems at the study site. The conflict that is happening at this time raises the determinants of conflict that do not get a solution. Until the end of this study, the problems at the study location had not found a meeting point.

This study uses a qualitative method. The results of this study indicate that the level of economic welfare of traditional fishermen in Ponelo Village is still low. This condition can be seen in the data, where most of the people of Ponelo Village are in prosperous family categories 1 and 2. One of the causes of poverty among traditional fishermen is that the income of these families still depends on their work as fishermen with very low productivity because The means of production are still very simple, namely nets, trawls, and fishing rods. To increase people's income, the government seeks to provide assistance with equipment, housing, food needs, education, and housing.
