Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of pollination on production of red dragon fruit. The study was conducted from January 2017 to May 2017 at the Aripan Experimental Field, Indonesian Tropical Fruit Research Institute. The treatments used were open pollination and hand cross pollination on 3 accessions of red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) (Sabila Merah, HP-Lbs, HP-01). The number of crosses of each treatment ranged from 20-30 flowers. The results showed that the hand cross pollination on dragon fruit affected the fruit set, fruit weight, fruit length, fruit grade percentage, but did not affect the total soluble solid (TSS) of fruit. HP-01 accession had a percentage of fruit set, fruit weight, fruit length, TSS, and percentage of super and A fruit grade were relatively the same between the hand cross pollination and open pollination. Only several accessions of Hylocereus polyrhizus need hand cross pollination. Keywords : Hylocereus polyrhizus, pollination, production

Abstract

The use of quality seeds increase productivity and competitive the success of a potato agribusiness. This study aims to determine the influence of seed size and seed origin paclobutrazol use of growth and production of potato seeds. The research conducted in Berastagi experimental farm, Karo regency, with type of the soil is andisol and altitude of 1,340 m asl. The research was beginning from February to May 2017. The design was used randomize block factorial with 2 replication. The first factor is the size of the seed (U1. small 25 g, U2. medium > 25 - 65 g and U3. large > 65 g). The second factor is the seed origin paclobutrazol use (P0. Control, P1. 7 WAP 250 ppm, P2. 7 WAP 500 ppm, P3. 8 WAP 250 ppm, P4. 8 WAP 500 ppm, P5. 9 WAP 250 ppm, P6. 9 WAP 500 ppm, P7. 10 WAP 250 ppm and P8. 10 WAP 500 ppm. The results showed that large seed size (> 65 g) was more important increasing vegetative growth of potato (plant height and canopy width, leaf area and number of tillers). The seed origin of paclobutrazole given at 8 WAP with dose 250 and 500 ppm have higher crop growth. The highest percentage of total seeds per plot is obtained by using medium size seed with use paclobutrazol 8 WAP 500 ppm (84.22%). Production of potato per plant and per plot was obtained by using medium seeds derived from the use of paclobutrazol 7 WAP 250 ppm (1.15 kg and 13.79 kg).

Abstract

Fungi mikoriza arbuskular merupakan kolonisasi terbentuk antara akar tanaman dengan fungi tanah. Spora fungi mikoriza arbuskula bersifat obligat fakultatif dimana tidak mampu tumbuh dan berkembangbiak bila tidak bersimbiosis dengan tanaman inang. Perbanyakan fungi mikoriza arbuskula diperlukan tanaman inang yang sesuai, sehingga efektif dan efisien dalam memproduksi inokulan. Untuk mengetahui jenis tanaman inang tersebut perlu dilakukan penelitian. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui keragaman jenis FMA indigenos pada rizosfer tanaman bengkuang.Metode yang dipakai pada penelitian ini adalah survey dan penyaringan basah (Wet Seiving). Hasil penelitian ditemukan 6 spesies yaitu Glomus sp 1, Glomus sp 2, Glomus sp 3, Glomus sp 4, Acaulospora sp 1 dan Gigaspora sp 1

Abstract

Salinity area experienced expansion that caused be contamination of irrigation water,sea water intrusion, drought stress and excessive uses of fertilizers.varieties is one of the plant breeding program to resolve salinity problem, before that however breeder must know plant adaptation mechanism in morphology, physiology and biochemical so that plant can be catagorized adapt and as having potential for the tolerant varieties. This writing aim to know the action gen estimation through skewness and kurtosis patern Na, K and chlorophyll content, so it is know if plant able to adapt with salinity. This research used a destructive analysis. (A) Anjasmoro varieties, (G) Grobogan varieties, (N) Grobogan varieties that have been through repeated selection as comparison. Research result show the tolerant varieties having high K+ ion, less Na+ and high chlorophyll content.

Abstract

Local rice was an important source of germplasm for superior rice breeding programs. This study aims to identify the diversity of five local rice accessions from Rokan Hilir regency of Riau based on agro-morphological characters. Identification was carried out using agronomic and morphological characters from samples of rice plants taken on farmers' fields. Data were analyzed using ANOVA (Analysis of variance), similarity matrix, SAHN grouping analysis (Sequential Aglomerattive Hieararchical and Nested Clustering) and Pearson Correlation analysis. The results showed that most quantitative and qualitative characters showed high variation, including ability to reproduce, level of excitement, plant height, stem diameter, 100 seed weight, grain length, stem stiffness, leaf surface, leaf angle, leaf neck color, leaf color, and ligule color. The highest phenotype similarity coefficient was 0.571, there are between Pulut bawang and sekuning accessions, while the lowest phenotype coefficient was 0.238 between Sigudang and IR64 accessions. The cluster analysis results in a dendogram with similarity coefficient of 0.40 to 0.572. All accessions of Rokan Hilir rice were united in the similarity coefficient of 0.40 and five accessions were grouped into two main clusters, namely Cluster I (Sigudang dan Pulut minyak) dan Cluster II (Pulut bawang, Sekuning, IR64). Correlation analysis between agro-morphology traits showed a high correlation such as stem trunk and stem stiffness, stem weight and plant age, plant age and stem stiffness, flag leaf angle and leaf angle, leaf blade color and leaf angle, leaf blade color and flag leaf angle.
