Abstract

This study intends to identify the linkages of leading sectors to the economy in the Purwomanggung area, Central Java. Secondary data for the period 2012-2021 was collected from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Central Java, as well as BPS for each district/city in the Purwomanggung area. In this study, analysis of Shift Share, Moran's Index, and LISA is used. The dominant leading sectors owned by districts/cities in the Purwomanggung area are the agricultural sector, the construction sector, and the wholesale and retail trade sector. There is a spatial correlation in the results of spatial linkages based on the leading sector that dominates with a high scale of regional observation and is surrounded by a nearby environment that has a high scale (High-High), a high regional observation value and is surrounded by a nearby environment of lower value ( High-Low), a low area observation value surrounded by a nearby environment with a higher value (Low-High), and a low area observation value surrounded by a low-value nearby environment (Low-Low). The results of linear regression analysis demonstrate which sectors have a substantial impact on growth. The wholesale and retail trade sector is another regional economy with the largest geographical links. While the agriculture and construction sectors have a considerable impact on economic growth in other areas.

Abstract

Cassava is a commodity that has the potential to be developed into a regional superior product. Cassava can be processed into other forms of food that are consumed by the community and one of the centers is in Magelang Regency. This study aims to analyze what factors influence the supply of cassava in Magelang Regency. The data used comes from secondary data. The data used from 2008 to 2022 comes from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The results of the study stated that the supply of cassava in Magelang Regency was jointly influenced by the previous year's cassava price, the previous year's sweet potato price, the previous year's cassava production, the harvested area of the previous year's cassava, the previous year's corn price. Meanwhile, partially the supply of cassava in Magelang Regency was influenced by the price of sweet potatoes in the previous year and the cassava harvested area in the previous year. Based on the results of the analysis, the price elasticity of cassava in the previous year on cassava supply in Magelang Regency was inelastic for both short-term elasticity (0.701) and long-term elasticity (0.02).

Abstract

The existence of a long-term demographic transition has an impact on the young population explosion,  even the population trend shows a growing pattern of the young population. It is unfortunate if the number of young age people who are not absorbed in employment will eventually become unemployed. Unemployment at a young age will have an impact on the amount of unemployment. This study will analyze the demographic factors and human capital that underlie youth unemployment in Sragen in 2021. The research employs the raw data derived from the results of the National Labor Force Survey (SAKERNAS) in Agustus 2021 from the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of Sragen Regency. The method used is binary logistic regression analysis. The results showed that the variables of age, gender, the status of a household, marital status, training, middle school education, and high school education affect the tendency of the young workforce to become unemployed.

Abstract

Renewable energy from waste can be an alternative as a power plant. This study aims to analyze the potential of waste in the Jatibarang landfill Semarang to be converted into electrical energy. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis. Around 850 tons of waste are dumped daily at the Jatibarang landfill. Due to the declining landfill capacity caused by this circumstance, the age of the landfill is decreasing. Waste must therefore be controlled by turning it into electrical energy. With a capacity of about 20 MW, this waste can be exploited as a power source. An environment with a sustainability quality will result from the conversion of waste into electrical energy.

Abstract

This research aimed to examine the distribution of home mortgages by various banks, i.e., commercial banks, Islamic banks, and rural banks during the 2-year Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. This study used panel data as the analysis method and the variables consisted of Residential Property Price Index (RPPI) and interest rates. The regression results showed that RPPI had a positive but not significant effect on the distribution of home mortgages during the pandemic. From the regression results, it is found that IHPR has an insignificant effect on KPR distribution during the pandemic. That is, when property prices increase, it will not affect the distribution of mortgages provided by commercial banks, Islamic banks and rural banks. Loan interest rates also have no significant effect on mortgage distribution during the pandemic. This implies that when the loan interest rate increases, it does not affect the distribution of mortgages provided. However, the increase in mortgage distribution during the Covid-19 pandemic is due to government efforts through subsidized mortgage policies such as Loan to Value (easing credit limits), VAT exemption incentives and expanding these policies not only in banks but also to rural banks.

Abstract

This study analyzes causality between global uncertainty and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) substitution to FDI, specifically for some Asian Countries. United Nations (2004) explains FDI is an indicator for sustainable development. It becomes crucial within the scope of Asian Countries because the majority are still developing. Measurement of global uncertainty uses the World Uncertainty Index (WUI) which is based on the quantification of text mining results in the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) report by The Economist. This study assumes that when global FDI is moved from certain sub-regions to other areas, the percentage of FDI to GDP of countries located in these sub-regions will decrease. The method used is fixed effect with research period of 2012-2020, this study analyzes 35 Asian Countries. However, the panel data is unbalanced. The results obtained are that WUI has no effect on FDI within the Asian countries, while substitution of FDI at the sub-regional level has a negative and significant effect.
