Abstract

Listening music through music streaming has become part of tertiary students’ activities. Music streaming is one of the media that can improve students' English pronunciation. The purpose of this research was to investigate three students’ perceptions from different Universities in Indonesia on the use Spotify application in improving English pronunciation. A qualitative research method with thematic analysis was applied in this research and the subjects of this research were three students; one English student and two non-English students, based on the parameter of the feature of Spotify, namely; the students’ interest and the students’ motivation (Andriani et all, 2018; Rahmania & Mandasari, 2021). Three themes were found on the interview, namely; Accessible and Flexible Feature, Interesting Media for Learning and Practicing English Pronunciation. The results of this research revealed that the use of Spotify feature on the English pronunciation of all participants increased the students’ pronunciation, particularly in terms of word and meaning. Two non-English students did not pay attention to the elements of English pronunciation; vowel, stress, rhythm, pitch and intonation. However, only English students pay more attention and more comprehensive elements of English pronunciation. It proves that educational background had an effect on improving students’ pronunciation

Abstract

Social media in learning Englsh is now used by people who have many functions,one whih can be used as a medium for language learning. Social media are effective learning media to assist the learning and teaching process. The use of media in learning English in Junior High School is able to make students do more Learning activities,and other activies such as observing,doing,demonstrating and so on. It was found teachers had positive perceptions of technologies.thematic analysis is the process of identifying and analyzing pattern or themes in qualitative. Based on the research result,teacher perceptions tend to be quite positive about the implementation of the teaching and learning process using media social. The tendency for perception is enthusiastic in taching media social as a tool to support the teaching and learning process at the school.

Abstract

This study focuses on students' problems in speaking English at SMP Plus Kasih Ibu Patumbak, Indonesia. Speaking skill is very important for social life to make people can communicate with global citizen easily. The students of SMP Plus Kasih Ibu Patumbak have been facing many problems in learning English, especially in speaking. The purpose of this research is to find out the students' problems in speaking English. This research design used is a descriptive qualitative research instrument for observation, interviews, and documentation. The study subjects were students of grade VII A totally 24 Students. The results of the data analysis, the researcher found several problems of students in speaking such as: lack of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, fluency and feeling nervous and being shy. It implies that Indonesian junior high schools need a very strong encouragement to more often practice English at school.

Abstract

English grammar and Indonesian grammar are different in some ways. One of the differences can be seen in constructing sentences based on referring time . The difference of grammatical structure between English and Indonesian which will be learnt especially is tenses for verbal sentences because in verbal sentences the rewill be shown the transformation of verb which does not occur in Indonesian structure. Therefore the researchers using Report Text material in spesifically about students’ experience, then There are four students which will be observed by the researchers. the method- research using is the descriptive method or what is usually called the qualitative method.And qualitative data will submitted by observing a hand-writting from the students.

Abstract

In English learners, especially high school students, generally find it difficult in translation and vocabulary. This study aims to find out what difficulties students face in learning English. To achieve the research objectives, a qualitative research method was used with a case study design. The instrument of this research is observation where we observe students' participation in learning English. Then we also use other instruments such as interviews. The object of this research is students of class VII-4 SMP Negeri 1 Delitua. The number of students in this study were 15 students. Researchers found that many students find learning English difficult. From the results of interviews the highest difficulty faced by many students was in translating sentences, the second was lack of vocabulary, and the third was motivation. The researcher also found other factors that cause students' difficulties in learning English, namely there are students who like English and there are also those who do not like English.
