Abstract

As a tropical country, Indonesia has a diverse air temperature range, reaching more than 34 °C during the day. This temperature is not suitable for rearing of broiler chickens because it induces heat stress. Heat stress can reduce the broilers immune system, it can also cause various diseases, the decrease in growth rate and production and making it uneconomical. Heat stress can inhibit the absorption of nutrients in the digestive tract which can affect the weight of the digestive organs and affect the relative weights of lymphoid organs of broiler chicken. The research was conducted at Poultry Production Laboratory, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang on 08-23 March 2018. This study aims to examine the relative weights of the small intestine and the relative weight of lymphoid organs of finisher period broiler chicken which are reared in different temperatures. The material used in this research is broiler chicken strain CP 707 male finisher period (age 21 days) as many as 20 chicken with an average body weight of 1167 g. The research used the t-test with 2 treatments of 10 replications. The treatment applied is T1: heat temperature and T2: comfortable temperature. The parameters observed were relative weights of the small intestine (duodenum, jejenum, ileum) and lymphoid organs (bursa fabricius, thymus, spleen). The results of the study showed that the relative weight of the small intestine consisting of the duodenum, jejunum and ileum at heat and comfortable rearing temperatures was respectively 0.25%; 0.66%; 0.55% and 0.34%; 0.79%; 0.71%, as well as the relative weight of lymphoid organs consisting of bursa fabricius, thymus and spleen exchanges at heat and comfortable rearing temperatures of 0.07%; 0.23%; 0.11% and 0.09%; 0.28%; 0.16%. The rearing temperature is significantly different with the relative weight of the small intestine and lymphoid organs of finisher period broiler (P<0.05). The conclusion of the research was that finisher period broiler chicken reared at a comfortable temperature have a higher relative weight of small intestine and lymphoid organs compared to broiler finisher period which are maintained at hot temperatures.

Abstract

The aims of this research was determine the difference in the profile of red blood and body weight of broilers kept in the highlands and lowlands. The material of this study used 40 starter and finisher period chickens aged 21 and 35 days. The parameters observed were the profile of red blood and body weight. Data were analyzed using a t-test to test an average of 2 populations. The results showed that differences in place height were not significantly different (P> 0.05) in the number of erythrocytes and hemoglobin but were significantly different (p <0.05) in hematocrit and body weight. The conclusion of this study the profile of red blood broilers kept at different altitudes is still normal under the erythrocyte and hemoglobin level but the increase in temperature in the lowlands increases hematocrit values and decreases production seen from the body weight of broilers falling below normal.

Abstract

This research is an applied research carried out in broiler closed house with the aim of assessing the effect of ammonia emissions levels in different zones which affect the broiler meat quality in the dry season. Seven hundred and twenty broilers which taken from a portion of population in closed house with a capacity of 11.000 were used. The treatment applied is a change in ammonia emissions at a different zones which is measured on 0, 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 length of broiler house from inlet. The parameters observed were pH, color and Water Holding Capacity (WHC) of broiler chicken meat. The results obtained indicate that an increase in ammonia emissions on zones 3 and 4 significantly affecting the increase of WHC value in zones 3 and 4 while other parameters do not. The increase of WHC value was an indicator of the decrease in broiler meat quality. It was concluded that the increase in ammonia emissions in zones 3 and 4 decreases the meat quality in the form of changes in the value of WHC without affecting pH and color values of broiler chicken breast meat.

Abstract

The research objective was to produce a product assembly and feed technology and natural additives to improve food quality and sustainable food security. The results of the first year obtained isolates of lactic acid bacteria and lignochloritic bacteria that have potential as probiotics for livestock, namely growth, high production, and enzyme activity. Isolates of lignochloritic bacteria grow well in the intestine, but lower in the gizzard and ventricles. Isolates as probiotics tend to increase feed intake, growth, the production of eggs, meat and egg protein but lower feed conversion, meat fat, and egg cholesterol.Key words: feed additive, food additive, probiotic, antibiotic, antioxidant
