Abstract

The purpose of the research was to  obtain  information regarding the performance of indigenous chicken  under   intensive  rearing. The  performance criteria were the increasing body abdominal weight, fat, rectal temperature, and the indigenous chicken’s mortality within the 5-week starter phase treatment. Research was conducted using 108 Day Old Chick (DOC). Data variance was analysed  based  on  the  split  plot  design  (3  types  of cage  litter  materials,  5 weeks  of data collection,  and   4   replications)   for   weight   gain   and   abdominal   fat parameters,   and completely  randomized  design  in  time  for rectal temperature. The result indicated a significant  effect  of  different  litter  materials  towards  weight  gain  (P  <0.01), the  highest body weight  was found on  chicken treated with rice straw litter; there was  no effect  of litter material on abdominal fat percentage; there was a significant effect (P < 0.01) of age towards rectal temperature; and there were no  interactions  between litter material with age,  on body weight  gain,  abdominal  fat,  and  rectal  temperature.  Chickens  under intensive  rearing  in rice straw floored cages were proven to have a mortality rate reduced by 3.7% in the starter phase.doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.12777/ijse.4.2.2013.52-56 [How to cite this article: Sulistyoningsih, M., Sunarti, D., Suprijatna, E., & Isroli, I. Abstract

This study aims at comparing the behavioral response of broiler chickens maintainedat different closed house length in the dry season. 600 broiler chickens with an average weightof 41.30 ± 2.68 g and two closed house units, each with a length of 60 m and 120 m having acapacity of 11,000 and 22,000 were used. Heat production is represented through eating, walking, and stretching behaviors. This research observed drinking and resting behaviors of thechickens. This is descriptive research conducted in the starter period (14 days old) of thechickens. The results show that the resting and stretching behaviors of chickens residing in the120 m closed house are higher than those in the 60 m closed house; no difference is observedin drinking behaviors. The average frequency and duration of walking and eating of chickensresiding in the 120 m closed house are lower than those in the 60 m closed house indicatingthat broilers reduce the frequency and duration of walking and eating. The findings show thatchickens raised in longer cages will show behavioral responses representing an increase of heatloss and a reduction of heat production. Keywords: broiler chicken behavior, heat loss, heat production, dry season, closed house.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect the use of fermented shrimp  flour   waste (FSW) with different concentrations on the ration of the productivity of Japanese quail egg (Coturnix-coturnix japanica). This study used 250 female quails 8 weeks old. Research ingredients consist of corn, bran, soybean meal, shrimp flour, meat bone meal (MBM), lysin, methionin, lime, premix and FSW Shrimp waste consists of head, body skin and shrimp tail which is the rest of the shrimp stripping industry. The study design was using Complete Random Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment unit consisted of T0 = Rations without TLUF, T1 = Ration using non fermented shrimp flour 7.5%, T2 = Ration using 5% TLUF, T3 = Ration using 7.5% TLUF and T4 = Ration using 10% TLUF. The data obtained were analyzed by using F test at 5% level, followed by Duncan test if any treatment effect. Parameters observed were feed consumption, hen day production (HDP), egg mass, feed conversion and income over feed cost (IOFC). The result of variance analysis showed that the treatment gave significant effect (P<0.05) to feed consumption and egg mass, while in HDP, feed conversion and IOFC did not show significant effect (P>0.05). The conclusion of this research is the use of fermented shrimp flour waste in quail ration can increase consumption, egg mass and IOFC but can not affect the production and conversion of feed. The highest IOFC value is in T2 treatment.

Abstract

As a tropical country, Indonesia has a diverse air temperature range, reaching more than 34 °C during the day. This temperature is not suitable for rearing of broiler chickens because it induces heat stress. Heat stress can reduce the broilers immune system, it can also cause various diseases, the decrease in growth rate and production and making it uneconomical. Heat stress can inhibit the absorption of nutrients in the digestive tract which can affect the weight of the digestive organs and affect the relative weights of lymphoid organs of broiler chicken. The research was conducted at Poultry Production Laboratory, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang on 08-23 March 2018. This study aims to examine the relative weights of the small intestine and the relative weight of lymphoid organs of finisher period broiler chicken which are reared in different temperatures. The material used in this research is broiler chicken strain CP 707 male finisher period (age 21 days) as many as 20 chicken with an average body weight of 1167 g. The research used the t-test with 2 treatments of 10 replications. The treatment applied is T1: heat temperature and T2: comfortable temperature. The parameters observed were relative weights of the small intestine (duodenum, jejenum, ileum) and lymphoid organs (bursa fabricius, thymus, spleen). The results of the study showed that the relative weight of the small intestine consisting of the duodenum, jejunum and ileum at heat and comfortable rearing temperatures was respectively 0.25%; 0.66%; 0.55% and 0.34%; 0.79%; 0.71%, as well as the relative weight of lymphoid organs consisting of bursa fabricius, thymus and spleen exchanges at heat and comfortable rearing temperatures of 0.07%; 0.23%; 0.11% and 0.09%; 0.28%; 0.16%. The rearing temperature is significantly different with the relative weight of the small intestine and lymphoid organs of finisher period broiler (P<0.05). The conclusion of the research was that finisher period broiler chicken reared at a comfortable temperature have a higher relative weight of small intestine and lymphoid organs compared to broiler finisher period which are maintained at hot temperatures.

Abstract

The significant impact on the national income highlights the value of expansion and economic development in Indonesia. Micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) play a crucial role in the overall tax revenue of the country. By utilizing secondary data collected by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), this research attempts to measure the influence of UMKM growth on Indonesia's GDP between 2010 and 2013. Descriptive qualitative analysis is the method employed in compiling this research data. The findings of this study demonstrate that the sector that can provide a fairly relevant contribution to the country's GDP through labor and investment is the UMKM sector. Micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) have an important role in driving the development of new markets and creating new job opportunities. Their contribution can enhance Indonesia's GDP and overall balance of payments, thereby increasing their significance in fostering opportunities and economic growth.
