Abstract

This study aims to protect the maritime environment from the spread of foreign species or harmful aquatic organisms and pathogens due to the discharge of ballast water from ships in order to prevent, minimize and completely eliminate risks to the environment, human health, wealth and resources arising from the transfer of aquatic organisms. harmful and pathogenic through the control and management of ballast water and sediment from ships, as well as to avoid unwanted side effects from such control and to encourage the development of related science and technology. The problems raised in this study are (1) What is the Ballast Water Exchange Standard (Reg. D-1), (2) What is the Ballast Water Performance Standard (Reg. D-2)?, (3) What is the Ballast Water Management Plan (BWMP) (Rule B-1) and (4) What is the combination of treatment technology. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method using data reduction analysis techniques, data presentation, and drawing conclusions as a method to determine the causes and efforts to overcome them. The results show that by applying the Ballast Water Performance Standard (Reg.D-2) with a combination of treatment technology, it can protect the maritime environment with the required ballast water performance standards. As required in the convention concerning the control and management of ballast water and sediment from ships/The International Convention for The Control and Management of Ship's Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004, in this convention it is required that ships of 400 gross tonnage and above are subject to this convention, not including floating platforms, FSUs and FPSOs are required to participate in the survey determined and meet the requirements of the BWM Convention. The conclusion of this study is that by installing BWMT to meet Reg. D-2 can protect the maritime environment from the spread of foreign species or aquatic organisms and pathogens.

Abstract

The main aim of the article is to suggest what and how a contemporary and revised version of humanism, inflected with critical realism and Marxism, can contribute to sociology. I mainly focus on two areas in which sociology is often lacking today: theorizing the relationship between structure and agency, and deciding what to do with moral evaluations in sociological analyses. I submit that the solution for both lies in trying finally to transcend the traditionally hostile and mutually exclusive paradigms of "humanist" or "cultural" Marxism on the one hand and "anti-humanist" or "scientific" Marxism on the other. This allows us to carefully re-establish the agency of human subjects and the moral dimension, both of which were and continue to be dismissed by anti-humanist or post-humanist social science, without neglecting the objective and causally relevant existence of social structures at the same time

Abstract

Technological developments have helped human life in various fields, including education. In practice, technology has a positive influence on student learning outcomes. This research will be carried out to see how effective the use of technology is for student learning outcomes. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. The data used in this study comes from various research results and previous studies, which still have relevance to the content of this research. The study results then found that technology can assist educators in providing material to students. Then students can also be helped to understand the material delivered by the teacher through technology. Various uses of this technology prove the effectiveness of the use of technology to improve student learning outcomes. Therefore, educators, such as teachers, must use the right technology to carry out the learning process.

Abstract

One industry that uses technology based on artificial intelligence in its operations is the government sector. Applying artificial intelligence in government settings can offer significant opportunities, but doing so comes with several obstacles that must be conquered first. Despite these obstacles, the application of AI in government settings can offer substantial possibilities. This article addresses the potential and challenges of integrating artificial intelligence in government and presents ideas to solve these challenges. The report also provides some background information on artificial intelligence. A qualitative technique combined with descriptive methodologies was used for this investigation. According to the findings of this investigation, the application of artificial intelligence in government settings carries with it a significant possibility of enhancing the quality of public services, improving the quality of decisions made, and enhancing the transparency and accountability of government operations. Nevertheless, some obstacles need to be conquered, such as concerns about protecting one's privacy and data, as well as worries regarding making decisions that are not fair.

Abstract

This article has as its objective to present a study of the impact of tax costs of the investment destined to the expansion of a metallurgical plant in Bolivia, compared with the tax load that would occur if such the investment were made in other countries, specifically, the USA, Canada and Chile. The study has been developed within the context of recognition that certain events which provoke effects upon the level of competitiveness of companies are beyond their action range. Among such events, the tax load, an integral element of government macroeconomic policies, has been considered in this study. The multiple case study method was used to measure the tax cost of a planned investment, contemplating the effective legislation in each of the examined countries. Results of the study allow concluding that, among the four countries under analysis, Brazil presents the largest tax cost, significantly greater than the other countries, which offer fiscal incentives, including a negative tax load. Among the remaining three countries, the company competitiveness has been favoured according to the following order: by Chile, the USA and Canada.
