Abstract

Lampung Province in 2022 ranked seventh nationally in beef cattle production with 906.6 thousand head and third in goat production with 1.67 million head, establishing itself as a key center for the provision of sacrificial animals. The training of volunteers in ante-mortem and post-mortem inspection of sacrificial animals aims to ensure the health of these animals. The sequence of outreach activities comprises five stages: 1) Administrative preparation; 2) Provision of training materials to volunteer inspectors; 3) Training in ante-mortem inspection of goats and cattle; 4) Training in post-mortem examination of goats; and 5) Evaluation of activities. The results from this community outreach initiative includes: 1) Training sessions and practical exercises in ante-mortem and post-mortem examination were attended by 104 volunteer inspectors in Lampung Province in 2023, resulting in a 10.55% increase in participants' knowledge from pre-activity (pretest) levels of 77.51% to 88.06% post-activity (posttest), categorized as high; 2) Ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections of sacrificial animals were conducted by 21 volunteer inspectors from 104 participants who took part in provision of training materials (20.19%)  across seven districts/cities in Lampung Province; 3) A total of 535 sacrificial animals were inspected, comprising 242 cattle and 293 goats with Bandar Lampung City having the largest proportion of inspection sites. Conclusion of this activity there was an increase in the knowledge of sacrificial animal inspection volunteers after the training.

Abstract

The agricultural practices carried out by the people of Aunupe Village have been going on for several generations, but the agricultural system used is not optimal because they still use a conventional farming system, namely monoculture. Apart from that, the agricultural input used is chemical fertilizer which of course does not meet the organic aspect and is not sustainable, because high chemical input and long use can damage the texture and nutrients of the soil. For this reason, community empowerment through training in the application of organic farming techniques in the form of agrosilvo conservation in an agroforestry pattern needs to be encouraged so that local communities who use land in forest areas not only obtain agricultural products but can also benefit from environmental and economic services so that they can be sustainable. Thus, the appropriate alternative that can be implemented is to utilize a non-timber farming system combined with maintaining wood trees, known as an agroforestry system, namely agrosilvo conservation. This service aims to provide knowledge and examples to the farming community regarding how to cultivate agriculture using a combination of non-timber plants and woody plants, namely with the conservation agrosilvo system. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The results of the PKMI program activities are the socialization of agro-silvoconservation activities and increased knowledge and capacity of the community in carrying out farming using the agrosilvo-conservation method.

Abstract

The waste problem in Aceh Besar District has been going on for quite some time now, which root cause can be tracked back to the lack of waste collection and treatment facilities compared to its residents’ waste growth. Therefore, the amount of untreated waste continues to increase. Meunasah Papeun Village as one of the villages in Aceh Besar District also faces the same problem, where the facilities and capacity of the Village Waste Management Unit (VWM) cannot keep up with the growth of residents' waste. Untreated waste ends up in illegal dumps or is burned by residents. This has reduced the comfort and quality of the village environment. In this Community Development Program (CDP), an approach was taken to reduce the waste that ended up in landfills through education and training on recycling and composting. The process sorted waste into three categories: organic, non-organic and residual waste. Some organic waste was composted and the rest became residue. Non-organic waste was sorted into recyclable and residual groups. This CDP was carried out in collaboration with Bank Sampah USK (BSU) to collect residents' recyclable waste. The residual was collected by VWM to be sent into the landfill. The residents who participated in these activities were able to cut their waste from a third to more than half. The extra money from recycling that was deposited into BSU was an additional advantage.

Abstract

Blang Krueng Village has potential in the field of animal husbandry, but the livestock raised is still traditional, so that many livestock lack feed, this causes the supply of minerals to the livestock's body to decrease. Urea molasses multinutrient block (UMMB) is one of the additional feeds with a high content of nutritional supplements, especially minerals for ruminants in solid form. The purpose of the service activity is to increase community income based on the development of the ability of the farmer community by increasing the knowledge and skills of farmers regarding technology for making nutrient block and capa leaf cream to increase their cattle production. The method that used in this activity is to use the approach of community participation methods in development or Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). The results of this activity showed that 95% of participants are interested in practicing, developing, and transmitting their knowledge of how to make UMMB and capa leaf cream to members of farmer groups around them. The conclusion, farmers will share the knowledge that has been obtained during the service to other farmer group members as the target group of service activities.

Abstract

Panancangan Village is located in Cibadak Sub-District, Lebak District, Banten Province. Several village residents had professions as oyster mushroom farmers and the results of cultivating these mushrooms could provide residents with an income of IDR 11,000 per kilo. During initial observations, the community empowerment team found that there were two main problems. The first was environmental problem. The environment around the village office looked barren and the air around the village feels very hot during the day. The second was social problem. Lack of residents’ skills and knowledge in the fields of mushroom management and food packaging, product marketing, and entrepreneurship, causes farmers to only sell their mushrooms in raw form. The objectives of this community service are providing education to village residents to increase environmental conservation awareness and increasing social development through training and education. Method used is through training both non-practical and practical training in plant cultivation and oyster mushroom management, food packaging, marketing, and entrepreneurship. The evaluation results showed that the training was effective and provided positive benefits for environmental and social improvements.
