Abstract

The study was concerned with the techniques for curbing youth unemployment and restiveness through global partnership in Technical Vocational Education and Training for achieving sustainable development goals 2016-2030 in North-East Nigeria. As the survey research design was adopted, four specific objectives and four null hypotheses guided the study. The population of the study was 468 subjects, consisting of 282 Social workers and 186 Vocational guidance counselors in six states of the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The entire population was used as the sample for the study because of its small size. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire titled - Curbing Youth Unemployment and Restiveness through Global Partnership in Technical Vocational Education and Training Questionnaire (CYURGPTEVTQ), validated by three experts with a Cronbach alpha correlation coefficient of 0.88. The researchers and two research assistants administered the instrument. Mean, and Standard deviation was used to answer the research questions, while student t-test statistics were used to analyze the null hypotheses at a 0.05 level of significance (P = 0.05). The study showed that youth unemployment was the critical factor generating community restiveness. Based on the findings, jobs should be created, and youths should be equipped with relevant skills, attitudes, and knowledge through TVET to curb youth unemployment and restiveness.

Abstract

Teachers have a role in building a civilization that upholds values and norms. Students are the party that the teacher focuses on to be educated. Of course, they have perceptions of teacher competence. This study aims to develop and validate a scale of perceptions of teacher competency. The instrument consists of four aspects: pedagogic, professional, personality, and social. This study uses Rasch analysis to test the construct validity of the teacher's competency perception scale. The construct validity test involved 400 students. Data analysis using WINSTEPS Rasch Software provides information about respondents' quality and instruments, easy and difficult items for respondents to agree on, fit order items, and unidimensionality. The results of the application of Rasch analysis showed that the teacher's competency perception scale is good, precise, and has item conformity with the model. The teacher competency perception scale is a reliable and valid tool to measure students' level of peace accurately. This study discusses the implications and recommendations for further research for implementing learning that optimizes the four teacher competencies.

The challenges of premarital counseling arise due to early marriage, divorce, marriage due to prior pregnancy, or various partner problems. As educators for students and prospective couples, counselors can conduct premarital counseling based on needs. The premarital counseling model has yet to be formed for the profession's development, so this study aims to analyze the needs of premarital counseling. The research method type is quantitative descriptive, with 21 students as subjects and a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was an open questionnaire analyzed using quantitative description through percentages. The results of the study found five basic and salient needs for premarital counseling regarding the conditions for pillars of marriage to be valid, knowledge to form a happy family, setting goals for marriage, selecting criteria for a good husband/wife candidate in religion, and understanding the wisdom behind the prohibition to marry individuals who different faiths. Premarital counselors, as educators who are Islamic, competent, professional, and have integrity, use the Al-Qur'an and Sunnah in answering life's problems with a positive counseling mindset so that they know the relationship with God, application in life, awareness, and meaningful self-quality. The five needs of premarital counseling with an Islamic approach are the basis for developing a premarital counseling model with an Islamic system to be implemented in group and individual counseling. The design of Islamic premarital counseling can be designed for the prevention of early marriages and unwanted cases.

Counselor creativity is one aspect that needs to be strengthened by counselors in providing counseling services. The creativity of this counselor can encourage the emergence of meaningful counseling services and significantly impact changes in counselee behavior. This article explains the integration of reality counseling with the creative arts. This article is a structured and systematic literature review of the development of ideas and reality counseling research related to the creative arts. This article is an analysis of 51 articles published from 2010 to 2020. In addition, three scientific articles directly relate to combining creative arts and reality counseling. A study of these articles found that creative arts can increase the effectiveness of reality counseling with the WDEP (wants, doing, evaluation, planning) system pattern. Creative arts supporting the efficacy of the WDEP system pattern of reality counseling are drawings, puppets, metaphors, and sand trays. The combination of reality counseling by utilizing creative arts such as drawing, puppets, metaphors, and sand trays produces operational guidelines for counselors consisting of four counseling sessions. Integrating creative arts into reality counseling is a form of professionalism for counselors in counseling services. Operating procedures for combining reality counseling with creative arts are discussed in this article. The findings of this study provide recommendations for further research to identify the effectiveness of counseling empirically in overcoming specific problems in counselees.
