Abstract

Sisingaan performances are one manifestation of the results of cultural societies in which there is an auditive, visual, and text message. The research carried out semantic-semiotic and etnopedagogy studies on sisingaan performances in Subang Regency from a language perspective. The method used is descriptive qualitative and in dissecting this research the approaches were semantics, semiotics and ethnopedaogy. In language research, the sisingaan is known to experience a shift in meaning based on its function and existence. Sisingaan characterization is interpreted as a form of resistance to colonialism. The result showed that the denotation of Sisingaan itself was made from wood, yarn and so on. Then, the connotation stage sisingaan art evolves its meaning into something that is historically principle and very rich in philosophy. Sisingaan is interpreted as one of the ways to convey criticism and resistance to the invaders, this is indicated by the many writings in the media which regularly write that sisingaan is a symbol of resistance to invaders (Dutch and British). Society symbolizes sisingaan structure as symbols that have meaning, four people who guide sisingaan are symbolized as oppressed people, who are forced to submit to invaders, then sisingaan is symbolized as occupying power over the occupied territories, in this matter is the Subang district. Furthermore, the child who occupies the lion is symbolized as the young generation of the nation who will continue the resistance against the invaders and is predicted to become the leader of the nation.

Abstract

The Braga heritage area is among the most famous tourist destinations in Bandung, Indonesia as this street is the location of numerous colonial-style heritage structures. Meanwhile, Generations Z reportedly will predominate the majority of travelers in the travel and tourism industry. They are viewed, though, as lacking a strong enough fascination with the subject of quality tourism including historical and heritage attractions. Interestingly, the coffee experience, which is also increasingly available in Braga, is beginning to draw the interest of Generation Z. The research question is whether the growth of heritage tourism such as in Braga Street, which rely on historical narrative, will be supported in the future by the rise of the Gen-Z tourist market circles, and whether coffee experience will be strong enough to attract them to come. In this qualitative research approach, ten respondents were agreed to describe their experiences as they perceived them. This study finds that the attractiveness of heritage buildings in the Braga area and the coffee experience are mutually reinforcing. If there was no place for Generation Z to get coffee, they would be hesitant to visit the Braga Heritage area to admire the historic buildings. The heritage atmosphere provided in the Braga area, on the other hand, was reported to be what inspired Gen Z tourists to have a coffee experience there. This article also discusses a number of other conceptual findings regarding how Gen Z perceives the heritage precinct of Braga.

Abstract

The Thousand Islands are one of the popular tourist locations nearby Jakarta, Indonesia's capital city. However, it is regrettable that not many people are aware of several locations in the Thousand Islands. Siput Island, which is part of Kelapa Island Village, is a marine tourism destination that not many people know much about or frequently visit. In order to attract tourists, it is therefore vital to promote Siput's tourism industry. Purpose: The study's objectives were to ascertain the current and potential circumstances on the island of Siput, as well as the difficulties and potential strategies for promoting marine tourism there. Methodology: The researcher's method is a qualitative one that includes interviews, observation, and documentation. Data triangulation is the analytical approach employed. Result: The results show that Kelapa Island has advantages in terms of uniqueness and beliefs held by individuals in the local community. The role of MSMEs around the island is also one of the advantages possessed by Kelapa Island. In addition, it was also found that the weakness of Kelapa Island is the lack of available funding for further demolishment. While rivalry, egotism, and natural calamities pose challenges, the potential of Pulau Kelapa is what draws several businesses to invest there. The 4A (Attraction, Accessibility, Amenities, & Ancillary) tourist development strategy for Pulau Kelapa has certain components that have been completed, beginning with attractions in the form of activities and cuisine, while amenities still need to be concentrated on restrooms and places of worship.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to discuss case studies and grounded theory research strategies in the field of tourism to encourage researchers to adopt the qualitative approach in conducting research. This paper addresses the topic of how to improve the reliability, validity, and generalizability of qualitative research. Yin (2018) proposed that a case study can be used as a research strategy in qualitative research to verify and extend a theory, meanwhile, for Eisenhardt (1989) and Gioia et al. (2012), a case study is used to build a theory using grounded theory. Both strategies are equally useful in the tourism sector. The choice of the research strategy depends on the research paradigm and how the researchers position themselves in the paradigm inquiry namely: ontologically, epistemologically, and methodologically. This article is significant to encourage researchers in tourism to adopt a qualitative approach in conducting research when the researchers intend to gain a deep understanding of the phenomena in tourism such as customer behavior, purchase intention, decision-making process, and tourist motivation.

Abstract

Film-induced tourism refers to the phenomenon of people visiting places because they were featured in popular movies or TV shows. The power of cinema to inspire travel has been recognized by the tourism industry for many years, and it has become a significant source of income for many destinations around the world. The concept of film-induced tourism has gained momentum with the rise of social media and the internet, which have made it easier for travelers to research and plan their trips based on the locations they have seen on screen. The impact of film-induced tourism can be significant for both the destinations and the film industry. For destinations, it can create jobs, boost local businesses, and promote the local culture and heritage. For the film industry, it can generate additional revenue and increase exposure for their productions. The concept of film-induced tourism has gained momentum with the rise of social media and the internet, which makes it easier for travelers to research and plan their trips based on the locations they have seen on screens. This is what the Tourism and Creative Economy Service is trying to take advantage of by launching the web series 'Tiba-Tiba NgeGUIDE'. There are two main factors that are discussed in depth, namely the process of making films including pre- production, production and post-production and also the web series itself which is a medium for promoting Jakarta tourism. Literature study, observation, and documentation try to be optimized to collect the required data. In conclusion, the web series Tiba-Tiba NgeGUIDE has succeeded in becoming a media/tool that promotes Jakarta tourism and increases audience awareness of Jakarta's tourist destinations.
