Barista : Jurnal Kajian Bahasa dan Pariwisata (ISSN 2356-1602; e-ISSN 2622-5999) is a peer-reviewed journal which is published by Unit Bahasa, Politeknik Pariwisata NHI Bandung, Indonesia. Barista aims at initiating and stimulating advances in Language and tourism research. Therefore, it publishes papers that promote new ideas, models, approaches, and paradigms by contributing to the advances in knowledge and theory of Language and tourism. The scope of this journal are: (1) Foreign Language Study and teaching; (2) Study of Indonesian Language, Regional Language and or its teaching; (3) Study of the development of tourism in Indonesia; (4) Study of tourism material, and; (5) Study of tourism HR development. The journal covers applied research studies and review articles, both in a format of the full-length articles and research notes. Applied research studies are expected to examine relationships among variables relevant to langage and tourism by employing appropriate analytical or statistical techniques. High-quality review articles that address the latest advances and develop theoretical knowledge or thinking about key aspects of hospitality and tourism are accepted. Research notes are short articles that report advances in methodology, exploratory research findings or extensions / discussions of prior research. Barista will also welcome commentary in response to published articles.

Abstract

Many studies have demonstrated a large impact on the job satisfaction and the way it influences productivity of employee or staff performance in order to increase hotel performance. This research is focused on analyzing employee job satisfaction level at InterContinental Bali Resort using Gruneberg Job Satisfaction Model as main theory. The data on this study gathered by distributing questionnaires and conducting interviews. After that, the result of it will be analyzed in quantitative and qualitative methods. The result from the research is most employees in Food & Beverage Service at Intercontinental Bali Resort are satisfied with the indicators stated by Gruneberg theory, however some improvements was addressed and findings were discussed.

Abstract

Analyzing the effect of direct compensation towards employee performance is essential for every business especially hospitality business. This research’s aims are to determine the effect of direct compensation towards employee performance, and know how to improve the employee performance through direct compensation front office department in St. Regis Bali Resort, based on theory of Mangkunegara and Bangun. The data of this research was collected through distributing online questionnaire, conducting interview, and observing the secondary data. In order to validate the data, data triangulation and SPSS are used when testing the data. The data analysis used are simple linear regression test, t-test, and coefficient determinant test. As the result of the research, there is a positive and significant effect of direct compensation on employee performance in Front Office Department at St. Regis Bali Resort. Thus, knowing the effect of direct compensation towards employee performance as well as optimizing the direct compensation provided are recommended to be done in order to maintain and improve employee performance.

Abstract

Physical development in the Lovina Tourism Area has several impacts, so it is necessary to conduct an evaluation of the development in the Lovina Tourism Area. Problems that arise regarding: 1) Impact arising from physical development; 2) Development of the Lovina Tourism Area is evaluated from a physical aspect. The research objective is to evaluate the physical development in the Lovina Tourism Area in Buleleng Regency towards sustainable tourism. Data were collected through group discussions, observations, and interviews. Sampling through group discussion (group discussion) and interviews. In analyzing the problems and research results, quantitative descriptive analysis was used. The results showed that the physical development in the Lovina Tourism Area had an impact on the Lovina Tourism Area, including: Physical impact, namely the proliferation of buildings as a means of tourism which resulted in excess supply, changes in beach cleanliness conditions, poorly maintained condition of tourism facilities; Social impact, namely changes in community behavior that mimic external cultural behavior, increased unemployment; The cultural impact, namely changes in traditional ceremonial facilities, decreased mutual cooperation and reduced artistic activities. The evaluations that have been carried out include: Physical aspects, namely the conversion of agricultural land to tourism land, less optimal public facilities to support tourism, not optimal waste or waste management, and violations of party boundaries; Social aspects, namely changes in the behavior of the people who tend to imitate foreign cultures, as well as shifting market segments from foreign tourists to domestic tourists; Cultural aspects, namely the decline in mutual cooperation activities, the decline in artistic activities, the erosion of the subak organization due to the narrowing of agricultural land. The government is expected to organize tourism facilities to create an attraction for the Lovina Tourism Area towards sustainable tourism and in accordance with the new life order.

Abstract

Palembang is one of the cities in the province of South Sumatera, where there are numerous aspect of tourism in this city. Palembang has a fairly long river namely Musi River. Ampera Bridge as one icon of Palembang city crosses the river. There is also a tourism spot namely Sultan Mahmud Baharuddin II Museum nearby. A museum is a storage place for historical objects. Not solely for storing such objects, you can study their history and the events underlying which able to increase your knowledge. The media used in promotion during this new normal era such as today is social media, where the medium is affordable yet highly impacful. As new normal as it is today, prospective tourists would like to spend more time at home. In case if the museum carries out a promotion, the message to be conveyed is in their hands immediately; and they will find it easier to access the information if it is carried out through that way. The promotions in new normal era are carried out through hard sell messages, where the information delivery is continuing even in such period. Education and important information has become the main content in promoting the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Museum in this new normal era. This study uses the theory of social media advertising, where the promotion done in the new normal time is through instagram social media.

Abstract

The city of Cirebon has a lot of potential for both tangible and intangible historical cultural heritages, so it is only right that the Cirebon city government makes all the riches of historical cultural heritage as a potential for future tourism. A comprehensive and integrated effort is needed in developing the city of Cirebon as a city for cultural tourism by involving many stakeholders, both from the government, DPRD, private sector, community and also actors of art and culture, so that Cirebon City can become a leading cultural tourism city. The large number of cultural potentials it has compared to other areas in West Java Province, makes Cirebon City has a very big opportunity to become a city for cultural tourism that is superior to others. With so many cultural heritages from various historical periods that are owned, there is no doubt that the superiority of cultural heritage values ​​in the city of Cirebon has a very high value and must be preserved and maintained as part of the effort to preserve the nation's culture. In order to further increase tourism in the city of Cirebon, contemporary tourist destinations need to be developed to serve the desires and tastes of tourists. The Karangwangi Corridor can be a strategy for developing cultural tourism that can be done. Several attempts to make it happen, such as; physical arrangement of roads that are good and beautiful, engineering traffic so they don't get jammed, arrangement of pedestrians so that pedestrians feel comfortable, arrangement of green open spaces so that the area becomes shady, arrangement of street furniture that adds to the aesthetics of the road, arrangement of city lights as lighting, arrangement billboards to be orderly and beautiful, and so on.
